Temperatures at 8 AM to 9AM at not too bad yet, right? I suppose it is how folks see 80 degree heat. I see it as liveable and that is why I don't see it as hot. But, there are predictions today for triple digit temperatures. Think infrastructure, too.

There will be as much as 10 to 15 degree heat change in a matter of hours. That means there will be wicked movement in expansion plates. The expansion plates might be able to handle it, but, the concrete it is connected to might not. The metal and concrete will both be expanding and at different rates in short periods of time.

With triple digit heat, the rails and sidewalks fall under concern. I know no one wants to hear this, but, sooner or later this society has to consider moving work hours to earlier or later in the day. That's right, in the dark. Earlier is better simply because the heating hasn't taken place yet.
