Clapper? Clapper is an expert on Iran? Right.
This is the expert on Iran and he is never asked for an appearance in the US press. It is easier to call Iran a rouge country from a distance than actually come to terms with what occurs in and out of his country in regard to nuclear non-proliferation.
If no one recognizes this man I would not be surprised.
“The issue of inspections of Iranian sites that are not declared nuclear
sites is one of the issues that remains to be resolved in negotiation.
While the issue is challenging, it is not unresolvable,” Paul Pillar
tells the Tehran Times in an exclusive interview....
I would fully expect no one knows Paul Pillar. He was with the USA CIA for 28 years. I think he has good judgement and he is not throwing the baby out with the bathwater. It was down right decent of him to lend his face and words to the insight of the Iranian talks.
As soon as there is any negative words over Iran the entire discussion turns into a right wing political uptick. It's nonsense. The talks in France is about Iran's nuclear capacity. It isn't about anything else. If Iran wants to put it's diaspora in the path of death, that isn't a good idea but has nothing to do with the talks.
His public participation is not unusual for Mr. Pillar. This is an essay on American negotitations:
...This is markedly different (click here) from the rest of the world's conception of negotiation, in which each side begins with positions that neither side will get or expects to get entirely, followed by a process of give-and-take and mutual concession to arrive at a compromise that meets the needs of each side enough that it is better for each than no agreement at all....
The essay talks about negotiations not a particular negotiation. The perilous diplomacy of the political right wing is war. "Everything is on the table." So, somehow in right wing diplomacy there is give and take. "There will be no talks." Absolutes don't work in diplomacy. That is why the US political right wing is completely ineffective in diplomacy. They are lucky Switzerland tolerates their bad behavior and political rhetoric designed to bring failured diplomacy.
There isn't everything on the table regardless of the rhetoric. There is an isolated Iran or one that complies with the Non-Proliferation Treaty as many other countries already understands.
There is no Big Bang going on here. The day the talks fail is the day Iran returns to an isolation status no different than North Korea and Pakistan. The people of these countries become unimportant, their politics are completely in disarray as terrorists work at appearing legitimate in order to get their hands on 'the nukes.' Iran will become one of those countries. It is the way the world works.
Nuclear weapons for as easy as they are to build and proliferate carry very heavy costs. I firmly believe Iran doesn't want to go there. Iranians are interesting folks and can add so much the cultural richness of the world. The Supreme Leader is putting his people, including the diaspora, into a corner that will imperil their lives and that of their children. The Supreme Leader is probably the equivalent of Clapper always escalating war without any reason to do otherwise. It's all nonsense.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Saudi Arabia says (click here) Yemen's Shiite rebels have launched two
separate attacks along the kingdom's border, killing three Saudi
soldiers.
The Wednesday night attacks reflect how despite three months of Saudi-led airstrikes targeting the rebels known as Houthis, the rebels are still capable of launching deadly attacks along the kingdom's border.
The Saudi Press Agency carried a military statement on Thursday, saying that two soldiers died in the border region of Najran, while the third died in the region of Asir.
Houthis frequently fire missiles from inside Yemen at Saudi border posts. More than two dozen Saudi soldiers have been killed in such attacks.
The unrest in Yemen has killed more than 1,000 civilians since March, displaced more than a million and led to severe shortages of food, water and electricity.
The Supreme Leader is not leading, he is causing the deaths of his followers.
I can hear the political right wing of the USA, "There should be American boots on the ground." I think there needs to be more than border guards at the Saudi border. There needs to be a military presence to end the assaults and rocket launches.
The Saudis already have the Patriot Missile System.
The IDF isn't coming to help Saudi Arabia? Oh, that's right, the Israeli politicians are to busy ranting about racism.
