The Trump FCC

The Trump FCC is going to have a very difficult time censoring media. The source of information has become very diverse with small operators using their iPhones on location. Ant attack by Trump’s FCC on major media is mute.

There are many international media services that have become part of our economy that will never have censorship imposed. All the USA major media services need to be left to conduct their best business practices in providing uncensored information.

Censored information is something Musk’s X is not capable of, selective censorship seems to be accepted by his subscribers.

They might be free elections but they are grossly unfair.

The presidential elections of 2024 were monitored for free will voters, but, were definitely not fair due to Musk’s thumb on the scale.

The Citizens United decision was a huge anti-democracy folly.

Big day for Bezos and John Glenn

Jeff Bezos has a tradition at Blue Origin in naming his rockets after Mercury program astronauts. The first launch of Blue Origins large rocket is named after the first Mercury astronaut to orbit the Earth and late Senator John Glenn.

I congratulate Jeff Bezos for his steadfast belief in his and his staff’s ability to achieve their goals.

Go New Glenn !

He wants to be Czar of the World.

Now, Musk is getting heat from Trump about his “hate your government rants,” and Musk’s father said his son wants to buy Liverpool. I doubt the Beetles would approve.

The truth of the matter is that these million-billionaires make money by stirring people up in revolt of their governments. It pulls in more and more participants looking for some sort of control. Bannon has done the same thing by stirring up controversy in Europe pushing dangerous agendas of the unpopular right wing.

It can be called a movement by the Plutocrats. Trump is just looking for a permanent place to eat his hamburgers believing he has control of the world with media on fire over his latest tabloid statement. Musk and now Zuckerberg are reeling in more and more participants on their media platforms in tattletaling gossip. The reflections of injustice by these CEOs are creating real problems economically as well. London is seeing its hospitality industry begin to falter. The same is true for Hawaii.

Steve Bannon is the best and initial example. He started his ranting on Brietbart making Trump a superstar. His failing millionaire could do nothing right with repeated bankruptcies, but, Bannon proved to others he could create tabloid politics without real truths that resulted in wealth building for those that sparked a flame of revolution. Revolution is “hot stuff.” Very muscular. White nationalists/Alt Right thrive on it. White male political and sexy.

So, with Trump taking the White House without any real character or capacity, billionaires who are bored found new pastimes that bring in real revenues. Rove wrote the book, Bannon ran with it in the USA and now abroad, Musk found real acceptance on a social platform he bought for his own purposes while doing business with communists.

It is a real mess and I am beginning to wonder when voters within democracies will finally reflect on their own foolishness? Justice is vital to democracy, but, while corruption exists, bringing focus to the corruption is important; the real proof of the strength of the people is still in honest conduct of the courts brought on by free and fair elections.

In support of every inflammatory million-billionaire stands Putin, Xi, Kim, and Iran’s Ayatollah.

Citizens of democracies need to realize there is profound peril in their actions and dummied down decisions.

This is illegal aggression.

Call the cops and charge with assault.

I don’t know of any officials that would use their children in a PR stunt. Usually, children are shielded from the press and public appearances.

Musk can’t simply invade the country seeking some kind of retribution for federal spending. It is minimally harassment and quite frankly assault. Civil suits can be filed and unions need to have their shop stewards report on these tactics.

These guys are wackos. They are advertising for, “super high IQ individuals that are small government revolutionaries willing to work 80
hours per week on non-glamorous cost cutting.” It sounds like a recruitment for Space  X. Is this a volunteer capacity? 80 hours per week doesn’t come cheap. That according to overtime standards is at least equivalent to 100 hours of pay. Even at minimum wage that’s a lot of money. We are better off just paying the federal personnel to do their jobs. It will be cheaper.

Tell them to go home and grow up first. Throw ‘em in jail.

This is a money grab. It has nothing to do with federal efficiency.

If people are confused about the aggression shown Greenland…

 …just think, “It’s a Putin thing.”

Vladimir Putin had aggressively moved to recall the Russian diaspora, place a tax on dual citizenship, invaded and occupied Crimea while having in place a plot to disarm Ukraine while one of his lieutenants, Viktor Yanukovych was in power. Once Ukraine’s national military was restored Putin then invaded a non-aggressive, peaceful country hoping an economic trade would be developed with Russia.

The greater global community primarily points to Putin as an aggressor and ostracizes him. Trump admires Putin. By taking the stance of an aggressor Trump seeks to alleviate Putin’s bad image and instead takes a stance similar to the Communist leader. There is no other reason to threaten the people of Greenland.

Denmark may want to sue Trump personally for his ill will and behavior. Nothing Trump states is official USA policy. Even as president it is not official policy.

I sincerely believe Trump is as unstable as he is wealthy. Trump is a problem. All his lousy life he has been a problem. Trump always latched onto government money without being able to conduct himself successfully otherwise. There is a very long history to draw on to prove his in grossly inept and extremely corrupt. The people of this country afforded him sixteen years of a tax free existence so he could solve his problems. He hasn’t yet.

A lot of people have made money and gained power off his eccentricity. His lawyers are among those people that have hitched themselves to his glory wagon. He is not qualified to lead the USA simply by the fact a power hungry Musk paved his way to power.

Trump continually makes trouble for others as if he has some sort of virtue we all need to understand and appreciate. He is a vehicle for corrupted power and nothing more. His election was based in that corrupt power with measurable lies, deceptions, and empty promises. His only purpose is to acquire wealth no matter the mechanism of power he decides serves him best. There is nothing legitimate about his presidency regardless of the electoral college vote. His presidency is bought and paid for without a moment of benevolence expected from him toward the people, but, only those looking for their payoff.

Trump and his buddy are nothing more than jokers. Putin said he has an interest in the Arctic. Ya think?

The only real interest Russia holds in the Arctic is war. Russia has done incredible damage to those waters and his own land. He has harassed Europe immeasurably with his nonsense. There is nuclear debris that floats into European waters regularly. There are cut cables, and erupted gas pipelines. Europe is far better off being autonomous from any trade with Russia regardless of Trump’s mischief.

This is going to be four stupendously ridiculous years that will mostly prove to be entertaining. I am confident court actions in the ICC as well as the World Trade Organization, and the UN will be numerous. So much so it can service as a distraction while the corrupt attendants to Trump will be hard at work without detection in the background causing all sorts of frustrations.

The people of New York spoke.

It was not a political decision. The jury found him guilty on the evidence. The country did not elect Trump, Elon Musk did.

The Farm Bill is coming up. These folks have important information about the future of plants.

The Salk Institute considers farms as heroes.

The Salk Institute can be Monsanto's best friend or worst enemy. There is only one choice, we have to go where Salk leads.

HAVE YOU READ IT !?!?!

Here it is.

Emission Gap Report 2023 (click here)

As greenhouse gas emissions hit new highs, (click here) temperature records tumble and climate impacts intensify, the Emissions Gap Report 2023: Broken Record – Temperatures hit new highs, yet world fails to cut emissions (again) finds that the world is heading for a temperature rise far above the Paris Agreement goals unless countries deliver more than they have promised. The report is the 14th edition in a series that brings together many of the world’s top climate scientists to look at future trends in greenhouse gas emissions and provide potential solutions to the challenge of global warming.

The Climate Crisis is getting worse. Much worse.

I have in the past mentioned the MIXING of the air masses of the stratosphere and the troposphere in climate events. These mixing episodes were actively driven by the climate crisis. The entries are here on the blog.

The illustration to the left are the different layers of Earth's atmosphere. Each layer has it's own defining characteristics.

Below is a video released by NASA illustrating the gravity waves of Helene. Helene was the hurricane that stalled over western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee. Helene's death toll has reached 246 as of January 7th.

These gravity waves reached the Mesosphere. That is a whole lot of energy from that storm that also blew the tops off the Smoky Mountains. This is unheard of and a new tipping point for Earth. We can't keep doing this to ourselves.

As the International Space Station (click here) traveled over the southeastern United States on Sept. 26, 2024, AWE observed atmospheric gravity waves generated by Hurricane Helene as the storm slammed into the gulf coast of Florida. The curved bands extending to the northwest of Florida, artificially colored red, yellow, and blue, show changes in brightness (or radiance) in a wavelength of infrared light produced by airglow in Earth’s mesosphere. The small black circles on the continent mark the locations of cities. Credit: Utah State University

The abuse of Earth's troposphere by polluting more and more greenhouse gases is dangerous, reckless, without a bit of inhibition of fear to the very serious outcomes we are all facing.

THIS MUST STOP!

This damage is caused by the heating that currently occurs on Earth (click here).

This was the correct action to take as the country moves to electric vehicles.

In this photo (click here) provided by the United States Coast Guard, a Coast Guard helicopter crew from Air Station Kodiak conducts the 13th hoist of 18 crewmen from the mobile drilling unit Kulluk on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, 80 miles southwest of Kodiak City, Alaska.

...Shell, one of the world’s largest oil companies (click here), cited “disappointing” results from the well it drilled off the coast of Alaska as well as the high costs of such exploration and the challenges of seeking future U.S. permits.

So, after spending approximately $7 billion, it’s giving up on the project. It won’t seek a permit next year, and its efforts to shed related 2017 financial commitments suggest its departure may be permanent. Its news coincided with the launch of the Energy Transitions Commission, a global group including Shell that aims to address both energy poverty and climate change....

2015 was a precipitates year of decisions by Shell as their icebreaker was severely damaged in the Arctic (click here). This is the Arctic OCEAN. It is the top of the world. It is a hostile environment. There is no safety margin there. Just because the Gulf of Mexico can be drilled between hurricanes, doesn't mean it can be accomplished in the Arctic Ocean.

...The consensus (click here) is clear – as Arctic sea ice melts, polar bears are finding it harder to hunt, mate and breed. While polar bears have shown some ability to adapt to changes in their surroundings – for example, by foraging for food on land, or swimming more to hunt for prey – scientists project that as sea ice diminishes, polar bears will find it harder to survive and populations will decline....

...temperatures in the Arctic are rising nearly four times as fast as the global average, and Arctic sea ice extent has declined since 1979 for every month of the year....

A polar bear (click here) feeds on the jaws of a bowhead whale harvested by natives along the coast of ANWR.

Today, President Biden took action (click here) to protect the entire U.S. East coast, the eastern Gulf of Mexico, the Pacific off the coasts of Washington, Oregon, and California, and additional portions of the Northern Bering Sea in Alaska from future oil and natural gas leasing. In protecting more than 625 million acres of the U.S. ocean from offshore drilling, President Biden has determined that the environmental and economic risks and harms that would result from drilling in these areas outweigh their limited fossil fuel resource potential. With these withdrawals, President Biden has now conserved over 670 million acres of America’s lands and waters, more than any other president in history....

This is sincerely a closed issue. To engage is a dialogue or a lawsuit as Alaska is conducting about drilling ANWR is completely mute and nothing more than inflammatory propaganda.

No oil or gas company sought to drill (click here) in a contentious wildlife refuge in Alaska, the Interior Department announced Wednesday.

As required by a 2017 law, the Biden administration offered the private sector the chance to drill on tracts in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

However, it said Wednesday that no company submitted a bid to do so. The deadline to submit bids to drill was Monday.

“The lack of interest from oil companies in development in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge reflects what we and they have known all along — there are some places too special and sacred to put at risk with oil and gas drilling,” Laura Daniel-Davis, acting deputy secretary of the Interior Department, said in a statement....

It is time for the country to begin to have the words "Climate Crisis" in their daily dialogue.

There was only one place (click here) in the state of California where a fire could be ignited with this intensity and that is exactly what occurred. Everything that could have been done was being done and everything that is being done is being done.

...Conversely, drought worsened for southern California...

...A dry start (click here) to the winter and using 90-day SPI (click here) and soil moisture, moderate drought (D1) was expanded across southern California. The NDMC short-term blend, 90-day SPI, and many 28-day average streamflows below the 10th percentile supported the addition of severe drought (D2) to portions of southern California. The Santa Ana winds during early January are likely to exacerbate the worsening drought conditions. Consistent with the NDMC short-term blend along with 30 to 120-day SPI, D2 was expanded for portions of southeastern Arizona and southwestern New Mexico. Based on water year to date (WYTD: October 1, 2024 to January 6, 2025) precipitation averaging above normal and snow water equivalent (SWE) above the 80th percentile, a 1-category improvement was made to southwestern Idaho, eastern to central Oregon, eastern Washington and a small part of northwestern Montana. This 1-category improvement is also supported by NDMC drought blends and SPIs at various time scales. As of January 7, SWE was above-normal (period of record: 1991-2020) across the southern Cascades along with eastern Oregon and southwestern Idaho. SWE was highly variable for the Sierra Nevada Mountains and below-normal across the Four Corners Region.

California was doing all it could (click here) and farther ahead of any other state of the country with a population of nearly 39 million Americans. It is the climate and the severe drought of southern California that sparked an inferno with winds that would not relent.

Two incredible Americans

One lost to us today leaving a vast memory of humanitarian values. The other still precious to the American values we all should embrace.

Wednesday, January 08, 2025

This is from the New York Times of the great humanitarian James Earl Carter, Jr.

The Republicans can own the tragedies across America.

These tragedies are not normal. They are extreme outcomes that have become impossible to recover from, including the massive floods in North Carolina up to and including these massive infernos in California.

There was a time in the USA when emergencies were manageable, but, Earth is showing its dominance.

For decades, if not a century government officials have been warned about fossil fuels all the way back to Henry Ford’s Model T. There was hope while Senators McCain and Clinton were working as a team to end fossil fuel use. But, the Republicans across the board since have been retreating into climate crisis denial ever since.

The people of California knew long ago the climate was a huge issue and attempted to adjust their lives and businesses to meet the challenges. What is occurring to them now is the most grossly unfair scenarios imaginable, because, they made the sacrifices but are still unable to reap the benefits.

Below is information that simply blows the mind. These ancient structures are power lines still standing in Texas. The people in Texas are not important enough to bring their power grid out of the dark ages, even if these are not currently functioning. Now, there is moron coming into the White House that only seeks to make political dogma statements to attempt to remove Democrats and democracy from the people.

President Biden has worked miracles in the four years he has been in the Oval Office. Climate measures have moved forward and there is at least a chance we can reverse the severe and life threatening reality of the climate crisis.

The American people need to come together to end these tragedies as well as maintaining their status as a Middle Class stronghold. The Climate Crisis has to be prioritized in every household across this country. The Climate Crisis has to be a bread and butter realty if this world is to stem the danger.

These ancient structures must come down as well as the politics that keep them standing.

The leaders of the firefighters…

…need a consolidated strategy. They need a joint meeting of the authorities involved, including the Governor on Zoom. The idea of setting backfires in these winds is highly dangerous and could involve suburbs. To realize in order to contain these infernos more homes maybe sacrificed only proves how complicated this is for those trying to end this.

The Governor may need to ask the National Guard to assist in whatever way they can, but, sheltering 10’s of thousands of people is similar to a Katrina scenario. People will have to be bussed out to safety until this is over.

Containment is the only hope at this point. No one fighting to end this should feel anything but heroic status. This is a highly dangerous and near impossible situation. The firefighters need to be identified to their leaders and kept in a record of attendance so no one is lost.

The country regularly comes together for severe flooding. Well. This is a flood of flames. People need shelter away from danger.

Think outside the box, including flame suppression. It is past “normal” methodology.

Fire chiefs have to have measures that work. That means in such extreme situations the Governor may have to authorize such a use. For such emergency use, concentrate in containment of the contamination, and cleanup even if it means Brownfields or Superfund classification!

These fires are exhaustive to the firefighters. It is possible there are less and less firefighters if there is no end in sight. Firefighters are human beings with incredible capacity, but, they aren’t machines that can hold the line without fatigue.

These fires have to be contained as soon as they erupt with winds like these. THE EMBERS are carried a loft and over a wide distance quickly.

The wind gusts are high and carrying embers.

No words can describe the bravery of our firefighters.

The fire is dominated by the wind and any fire breaks that can be established if that is possible.

The art world needs to address the emergency at the museum. Smoke damage alone can be of concern. ANYONE going near a museum piece should be credentialed and checked by a secure process. Art theft is well known to these folks.

Preventing the spread should be prioritized rather than fighting the flames. Areas on fire are already lost. High density population areas need to be addressed to contain the emergency. The wind is not going to stop and that is the fuel to the inferno.

Farewell to a 100 year old humanitarian and President of the USA.

We were lucky to have him for so long.
