September 8, 2005 0030 gmt (z) GOES East. The Gulf of Mexico convection center has become larger to encompass Mexico. It has the appearance of fueling Ophelia while bring it across Florida. A split 'eye' is nothing new. It's a double walled eye. We have seen this before earlier in the season.
