This is something like the second collision in a month of a US warship and a cargo ship.

This appears to be human error and this is not simply a bumper accident. How much human error, how much shipping lane traffic and how much deliberate attack? This is serious, sailors are missing and the destroyer is badly disabled. The USS Fitzgerald is a member of the Carl Vinson carrier group.

The USA has deployed their ships into the Sea of Japan to monitor and intercept the missiles of North Korea. A destroyer helps protect the carrier and interferes with any military assault against it. This mission is not a minor detail in the region and what the heck are USA military ships doing shipping lanes?

Who was piloting the freighter? A distant cousin of Kim?

Tokyo - Search and rescue (click here) efforts went on after dark for seven U.S. sailors missing after the U.S. Navy destroyer USS Fitzgerald collided with a Philippine-flagged container ship more than three times its size off eastern Japan early on Saturday.

The Fitzgerald, an Aegis guided missile destroyer, collided with the merchant vessel some 56 nautical miles southwest of Yokosuka, the Navy said.

Three aboard the destroyer had been medically evacuated to the U.S. Naval Hospital in Yokosuka, including the ship's commanding officer, Cmdr. Bryce Benson, who was reported to be in stable condition, the Navy said. The other two were being treated for lacerations and bruises, while other injured were being assessed aboard the ship, it said.

The USS Fitzgerald sailed into port on Saturday evening but search and rescue efforts by U.S. and Japanese aircraft and surface vessels were continuing for the seven missing sailors, the Navy said. Their names are being withheld until the families have been notified, it added.

Benson took command of the Fitzgerald on May 13. He had previously commanded a minesweeper based in Sasebo in western Japan....

Washington - A US destroyer (click here) rescued two pilots and a crewman Wednesday after their Navy helicopter crashed in the waters near Guam, according to the service.

A medical team aboard the USS Dewey examined the helicopter crew and reported no apparent injuries.

The incident occurred as the MH-60R Sea Hawk was performing "routine flight operations," with the cause of the crash currently under investigation, the Navy said in a press release....

What is the ready status of the USA military? Retiring increase? Resignation increase? What is going on? It seems to me to be a lot of interplay in the region of North Korea and the Philippines. This is not normal.

There were a lot of retirements and such during the "W" years and the military was forced to advance officers that may not have been ready. What is going on?

We have a commander and chief that leaks ship locations to despots. How much of this is new personnel and/or new commands and how much is worrisome and possibly attacks on the USA Navy. What degree of disablement has the Navy experienced since January 20, 2017?

Disabling a military is a real strategy. Cargo ships the size of a small mountain are destroying USA Destroyers? Really?

Andimba Toivo ya Toivo, once a resident of Robben Island prison has passed away at the age of 92.

Mr. ya Toivo kisses the ground upon his return to Namibia from exile in Angola in 1989.

Andimba Toivo ya Toivo, (click here) a Namibian independence leader whose struggle against his country’s South African rulers landed him for 16 years in the infamous Robben Island prison, where with his steadfastness he earned the admiration of Nelson Mandela, a fellow inmate, died June 9. He was 92.

His death was reported by the Associated Press and by Namibian outlets including New Era, which said Mr. ya Toivo died at his home in a suburb of Windhoek, the country’s capital, of a suspected heart attack.

Mr. ya Toivo fought what the London Guardian once described as a decades-long “war of nerves” with South Africa in behalf of Namibia. South Africa assumed control of the onetime German colony through a League of Nations mandate at the end of World War I....

Donald Trump is correct, they are laughing, but, they aren't laughing at the country. (click here)

The death count is to 17 now. I don't think there will ever be an accurate death toll. I don't know how they will be able to enter that tower.

The building is unstable and dangerous. As sad and sacred so many lives lost in that building are, the city is going to have to consider demolishing the building for the safety of the area.

Thousands of homes (click here) in tower blocks across the UK are undergoing urgent safety reviews after a fire that claimed at least 17 lives in London, amid concerns that exterior cladding commonly used on such buildings could have led to the horrific speed at which the flames spread.

Residents said they had sounded the alarm over issues dating back several years at Grenfell Tower, which was covered in aluminium panels to improve its “external appearance” last year.

Buildings across the UK renovated by the same firm that installed the tower's cladding will now be reviewed, The Independent has learnt.

Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, was among those demanding an immediate review of fire safety at blocks across the country as police launched a separate criminal investigation into the disaster....

Start with normal occupancy and where the head of the household worked. Then expand from there into school attendance and absences at work. It is going to be impossible to recover the bodies in that building. Families and friends need to take account of loved ones that lived in the building and decide if their absence from phone calls and the like is normal or not.

How many more buildings are fitted with these tiles. They have to be removed as soon as possible.

Cladding (click here) believed to have been used on Grenfell Tower is banned in the US, it has emerged, amid revelations that it would have cost just £5,000 extra for the contractors to apply a fire-resistant version of panelling to the building....

...The panels believed to have been fitted to the outside of Grenfell Tower are produced by US company Reynobond, which makes three types of panel: one with a flammable plastic core and two with fire-resistant cores.

It is thought that contractors chose the cheaper, more combustible version for Grenfell, which has a polyethylene core and is known as PE.

A salesman for the US company Reynobond, which produces the panels, told The Times the type of panel believed to have been used on Grenfell Tower was banned on tall buildings in the US “because of the fire and smoke spread”.

The Dubai fire occurred for the same reasons.

...The high-rise (click here) Fountain Views complex, which is being built by state-backed Dubai developer Emaar Properties, eventually will connect to the massive Dubai Mall across the street. It's planned to eventually be home to 788 apartments and a hotel.

Emaar, which built both the Dubai Mall and the tower struck by the 2015 blaze, declined to immediately comment.

Dramatic fires have hit skyscrapers in Dubai and other fast-growing cities in the United Arab Emirates in recent years. Building and safety experts have cited a popular type of cladding covering the buildings that can be highly flammable. Authorities say they've changed fire safety rules in the sheikhdom to address the danger, but have offered few details....
Russia believes al-Baghdadi is dead in an air strike. Congratulations. His idea of a caliphate dies with him. It is disgusting the number of young minds and hearts he corrupted into brutally killing innocent people. His death brings recognition of a painful period in Islamic history.

There is still a threat from his diaspora, but, it will abate in time. His death is reassurance of the growing desire for peace in the Middle East. Stabilizing Syria and Libya is the only real challenge left. Iran has no reason to continue to arm the Shia Crescent with a stabilizing region. Enough. All faiths and ethnicity are guaranteed a place and right to exist. The childrrn are to be given a future.

Senator Bernie Sanders said it all. The violence is not the answer and it isn't.

June 14, 2017
By Jose Pagliery

...On Wednesday, (click here) Senator Sanders publicly acknowledged that Hodgkinson had volunteered for his presidential campaign last year, but he denounced the violence as "despicable."

Hodgkinson's own descriptions on social media portray him as an avid consumer of political shows. His favorite television shows were listed as "Real Time with Bill Maher;" "The Rachel Maddow Show;" "Democracy Now!" and other left-leaning programs.

His favorite movie? The documentary "Inequality for All," featuring progressive economist Robert Reich.

He had also joined several anti-GOP Facebook groups, including "Terminate The Republican Party;" "The Road to Hell Is Paved With Republicans;" and "Join The Resistance Worldwide!!"...

The Hodgkinson family lost a member today and I am sure they didn't expect any of this either.

President Donald Trump also stated the US House Bill for ending the Affordable Care Act is mean. That is something. He said it BEFORE the shooting today. At some point I recall him calling for the reinstatement of Glass-Steagall. He needs to lead and get it done if he meant it.

The country is too divided and no one seems interested in closing that divide. There is a lot of work to be done to help bring all Americans up to speed again in restoring the Middle Class and sentence reform is still needed.

We don't need the hate or the violence. We need gun control. We need to talk about improving lives and not restoring the ability to rob the country and bank wealth. The USA needs to be the wholesome country it used to be before the USA Dollar became more important than American lives.

Shut up, Newt. Just shut up the country doesn't need to hear from another right wing nut.

Rep. Steve Scalise is lying in critical condition in a hospital bed and all Gingrich can do is escalate the hate.

SHUT UP!

I think the leader of the Republican party currently in the White House did a relatively good job at addressing the country and he wasn't interested in hate.

Washington (CNN)Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (click here) responded to the shooting at a Republican baseball practice on Wednesday by saying it was "part of a pattern" of behavior on the left.

Gingrich, speaking on Fox News' "Outnumbered," offered his prayers to those injured and promptly lumped the violent incident in with what he called a broader trend coming from those opposed to President Donald Trump.

"It's part of a pattern," Gingrich said. "You've had an increasing intensity of hostility on the left."...

Newt Gingrich hated President Obama, was the mastermind of the Working Poor and while denouncing the ACA as the worst policy ever, made millions if not billions from the roll out of the Affordable Care Act.

Shut up you flying moron!

Michigan Health Director Nick Lyon and four other officials (click here) are accused of failing to act on a Legionnaires' disease outbreak associated with the city’s lead-poisoning problems.

June 14, 2017
By Vann R. Newkirk

On Wednesday morning, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Director Nick Lyon became both the highest-ranking person charged in the ongoing Flint water-crisis investigation. He and four other Michigan officials received the first involuntary manslaughter charges in the investigation as well.

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette’s office charged Lyon with involuntary manslaughter in court in connection to deaths caused by an outbreak of Legionnaire’s disease, which many experts believe occurred because Lyon’s department failed to warn Flint residents of the dangers of their crumbling water infrastructure. His subordinate Eden Wells, the chief medical officer of the department, was also charged with obstruction of justice and lying to a police officer.

Later, during a press conference, Schuette announced that he would be charging four additional officials, including former Flint Emergence Manager Darnell Earley, former state environmental official Liane Shekter-Smith, former Flint Public Works director Howard Croft, and state water supervisor Stephen Busch with manslaughter, in addition to previously announced against them. All five of the involuntary manslaughter charges, including Lyon’s, are linked to the death of Robert Skidmore, who died from Legionnaire’s disease in 2015 before a public outbreak notice was issued....

The acute kidney failure means there was a sudden onset of kidney failure.
Mr. Nelson did not have a kidney disease before he fell ill with Legionella pneumonia. Bacterial infections like this often result in "septic shock" which takes the life of the victim through system failures of the body. It is not a simple or easy death.

Another nightmare in London.

A fire tore through a 24-story apartment building on June 14 in west London, shortly before 1 a.m. The London Fire Commissioner said “a number” of people have been confirmed dead.
At least six people (click here) were killed, more than 70 injured and many others missing on Wednesday as a fire ripped through a high-rise apartment building in west London where residents had long warned of the potential risk of a catastrophic blaze.

Witnesses reported people jumping from parts of the 24-story building after being trapped by the advancing flames. A thick plume of smoke could be seen for miles around.

Children banged on closed windows as they were enveloped by the dark smoke. A woman dropped her baby from at least a dozen stories up, desperately hoping someone would catch the infant in the street below.

Hundreds of other residents, many of whom were asleep when the blaze broke out shortly before 1 a.m., were forced to flee down dark and smoky stairwells. Grenfell Tower, which is publicly subsidized housing that prioritizes low-income and disabled residents of one of London’s poshest neighborhoods, was engulfed within minutes, witnesses said....

The verbal witnessing of this journalist is incredible. He saw people fade from the windows and most probably die. It is believed children died in the fire. There are citizens of London noticing people missing as the day wears on. There are school children missing their playmates. The school children are searching for their friends. This is an unmatched tragedy for London. There is a growing awareness of missing people and concern for their whereabouts.

Below Ana Ospina is concerned for her friend, Jessie.

14 June 2017

Ana Ospina tweeted this image of her 13-year-old niece Jessie who is missing after the Grenfell Tower fire.

The London Fire Brigade (click here) has confirmed that there have been fatalities in the Grenfell Tower fire, which consumed the block in west London in the early hours of the morning local time.

People have been desperately searching for their loved ones who live in the building as people appeared to be trapped inside, the Telegraph reports.

The leader of Kensington and Chelsea Borough Nick Paget-Brown said "several hundred" people would have been in the block when the fire broke out.

Children are believed to be among those missing, as school students search for their friends....

The firefighters became exhausted and the fire won it's status of inferno. Firefighting is a two edged sword; the enemy that is the fire and the victims of it. A fire such as this has to be as emotionally devastating as well as physically. To realize fighting the blaze is not saving lives is a defeat alone. Fighting the fire from the lower floors meant the rising smoke would simply cause more victims. It seems as though they were on a battle without end and the hopelessness of the circumstances set in.

How are the Capital Police doing?

My understanding is there were 50 shoots that rang out. Yes? The fact it took so many shots to hit the target and then only wounded him sounds like a burst of anger rather than pre-meditated.

Steve Scalise is mentioned on this blog several times over years past. Until Steve Bannon, Scalise was the highest ranking White Supremacist Republican in DC. He remains the highest ranking White Supremacist elected.

I think he was a target for that reason. Steve Scalise is a die in the wool White Supremacist who has traveled to Europe to attend conventions. There is no mistake, unless the gunman was seeing Scalise's wife intimately, it was attempted murder to end the life of the highest ranking ELECTED White Supremacist in the USA.

Have a better day. I disdain the man.

Rep. Roger Williams, a Republican of Texas, said in a statement that one of his aides was shot.

Officials described a scene of chaos and of players taking cover wherever they could on the field.

Rep. Mike Bishop from Michigan said the gunman was standing outside the fence line behind third base aiming for the field’s only exit....

My deepest gratitude to the Democratic Congress for defending the constitution of the greatest country that ever existed on Earth.

It is my observation that a plutocratic minority came into existence beginning with the repeal of "Glass-Steagall." That minority grew in wealth during the George W. Bush years and caused the 2008 global economic collapse. Their bailout facilitated a restructuring of commerce across the globe. That restructuring was facilitated by corruption and crime in the previous eight years. This was noted in Europe as well as the USA.

To make a long story short, the first President of the USA was elected in 2016 from this plutocracy under the guise of a patriotic party named, "The Tea Party," a Republican Party extremist arm. As the first plutocratic president the Trump Administration has stomped the USA Constitution and Bill of Rights.

It is about time Congress took it's place in enforcing the provisions of the USA Constitution to uphold it's integrity. The Congressional Republicans are afraid of Mr. Trump and his political clout within their party. The Congressional Republicans have relinquished the USA Constitution to the back seat of their Congressional business agenda to further exploit the USA's fiscal characteristics sending more wealth to their plutocrats and demising further the middle class and poor.

The first notable "Temperate Disturbance" manifested in latitudes where "Temperate Rainforests" exist.

The current wind map. (click here) Kindly note the top speed is 24.3 miles per hour. If the phenomena that had been sending out severe weather for 48 hours existed in the tropics it would be considered a "Tropical Disturbance."

Tropical Disturbance: (click here)

A discrete tropical weather system of apparently organized convection -- generally 100 to 300 nmi in diameter -- originating in the tropics or subtropics, having a nonfrontal migratory character, and maintaining its identity for 24 hours or more. It may or may not be associated with a detectable perturbation of the wind field.

Given the longitude and latitude of the disturbance this phenomena is best named a "Temperate Distrubance." The special aspect that describes it in this fashion is the definition from NOAA.

To the right:

0930.18z
UNISYS Water Vapor Satellite of the north and west hemisphere

"...maintaining its identity for 24 hours or more. It may or may not be associated with a detectable perturbation of the wind field."

The phenomena never dissipated it's wind field for over 48 hours. This phenomena is NOT a mid-latitude vortex. It has a very different pattern of behavior than a mid-latitude vortex. It emitted severe weather that carried with it high winds and torrential rain. These severe weather patterns were sustained for hours all to themselves. This is not a normal mid-latitude vortex. This is a phenomena with characteristics of a Superstorm, but, more in that it emitted severe storms from within it's own physics.

A Tropical Disturbance is named so because it sustains itself in a wind pattern without attaining "Tropical Storm" sustained winds. This "Temperate Disturbance" has the same sustained pattern but at higher latitudes. It is my opinion this Temperate Disturbance needs to be defined as it may escalate to a sustained status that will build to higher wind speeds IF the smaller storms cease. If the higher winds are met, we will have seen the first of s high latitude "Temperate Storm" no different in nature of the "Tropical Storm." It will be the first LAND BASED storms of this nature.

UNISYS Water Vapor Satellite of the north and west hemisphere

The phenomena as it existed today is unique to any past weather patterns. I have never seen anything like it in 17 years of observations of the North America continent. The most interesting thing about this phenomena is realized when noted there are "Temperate Rainforests" at this latitude. Those Temperate Rainforests have existed a very long time.

The June 13, 2017, 1430.18z satellite image ended the 48 hours prior the Temperate Disturbance established a pattern of severe storm emissions. The previous two satellite images is it's transformation from Temperate Disturbance to mid-latitude vortex. The 48 hour phenomena was never a mid-latitude vortex.

The Russian attack on Ukraine's power grid.

I might add, Ukraine was under a Russian sympathizer as President in Viktor Yushchenko. He was ousted from power February 23, 2014. Ukraine under his leadership was made weak and vulnerable. This should be of no surprise that Ukraine was vulnerable to Russian attacks of any kind.

Ukraine never expected to have to defend itself against Russia. There was a treaty. There is another treaty today, but, Russia has been ignoring it's role in upholding treaties so much as to make Ukraine a victim to it's remaining power as an international power.

It was 3:30 p.m. last December 23, (2015) (click here) and residents of the Ivano-Frankivsk region of Western Ukraine were preparing to end their workday and head home through the cold winter streets. Inside the Prykarpattyaoblenergo control center, which distributes power to the region's residents, operators too were nearing the end of their shift. But just as one worker was organizing papers at his desk that day, the cursor on his computer suddenly skittered across the screen of its own accord.

He watched as it navigated purposefully toward buttons controlling the circuit breakers at a substation in the region and then clicked on a box to open the breakers and take the substation offline. A dialogue window popped up on screen asking to confirm the action, and the operator stared dumbfounded as the cursor glided to the box and clicked to affirm. Somewhere in a region outside the city he knew that thousands of residents had just lost their lights and heaters....

In less than a year after this attack Ukraine successfully tested it's renewed military strength in missile tests.

Ukraine carried out missile launches Thursday near Crimea (click here) -- territory that Russia annexed more than two years ago -- as part of military exercises, Ukrainian state news agency Ukrinform reported.

The drills involve the test firing of medium-range surface-to-air missiles, the news agency said.

"Everything goes according to the plan. There is no response from the Russian Federation. Ukrainian military are ready for any developments," Ukrinform cited military spokesman Volodymyr Kryzhanivsky as saying on Ukrainian TV.

Kryzhanivsky reportedly said the drills in southern Ukraine did not pose any threat to Crimea and that Ukraine was acting in accordance with international law....

Regardless of the electrical grid failure Ukraine did not back down and continued on it's course to independence and military strength. I sincerely don't believe the USA national security regarding it's defense capability relies completely on an electrical grid. Those would have to be long lines to any aircraft carrier.

Don't they go on gas anyway?
The Republicans are doing little to nothing about the substance of the hearing except to provide an election ad.

Nothing is going to be resolved today. Sessions has already recused himself from the investigation. That is an obvious conflict of interest. He won't be answering any questions with substance.

This is a waste of time. Records have to be subpoenaed.

There you go. Sessions is as scared of perjury as any other charges that are possible.

Oh, well, the Soviet Union collapsed and it is unfortunate we cannot communicate better than we do with Russia.

Ukraine is nothing to this man. THERE WAS A TREATY BROKEN BY RUSSIA, but, we should be on better terms than every with them. Amazing.

Why would Sessions take on Trumps diatribe about Russia? Loyalty? He is worried about perjury based on what loyalty to Trump?

I don't recall Sessions oath of office included loyalty to Trump. I think it was loyalty to the country and defense of the US Constitution.

The region involved spans the continent and is located at 45 degrees north latitude. The western vortex is a reverse circulation system and very similarly found with Superstorms.

Instead of moving east, it is stationary. It accumulates water vapor and at some point will send storms that deliver high winds and torrential rain that sustains for hours at a time.

Additionally, Tropicl Storm Calvin manifested in the east Pacific at the same time the 45 degree vortex formed.

...The question is not whether he’s vengeful,” (click here) conservative columnist Ben Shapiro told me. “The question is how willing he is to use the levers of government to exact that revenge.”...

Revenge is the enforcement of standards not widely accepted. Revenge is the basis of organized crime. ie: The "Sniffer Dogs" of law enforcement were being exceptionally successful in ferreting out heroine. In retribution, the drug cartels of Mexico placed fentanyl in heroine shipments to kill the dogs.

One has to question the idea that Trump has exceptional personal wealth worth in the face of so many business failures. There are legitimate questions that brings the IRS to his enterprises. No doubt about it. There is no harassment, there are IRS agents that have sincere concerns about the legitimacy of his taxes.

Revenge and cronyism are not desirable characteristics in a president. His statements about Dodd-Frank are proof enough he has plans for his power and it isn't to benefit the American people so much as him, his family and friends. The ethics are obvious and the idea he is committing crimes all along the way from his days as a real estate broker has to be asked.

Who did Trump level revenge of and why? If those he sought revenge are breaking the law he should be reporting that and advocating for better laws. There is no excuse for revenge. After the people and businesses he left in the breach when he declared bankruptcy again and again.

How did this guy make it into the White House? Oh, yeah, Russia. He is loyal to his financial backers without a doubt. Ruling by consensus is fine if it is legal, but, what Trump practices is illegal. He goes over the line.

In my opinion, he practiced intimidation with the banks from his earliest investments. Banks could not afford to foreclose. The banks were then required to restructure the debt and allow different payment arrangements. Intimidation of such nature is unethical, but, when realizing he pre-determined the crimes he was prepared to commit as a strategy it changes from ethical issues to one of illegal exploitation and lies to banks who first saw their investments as secure.

Comey is the bright shiny object in the room. And in the meantime what happened with Wall Street corruption?

The corruption in his administration is completely obvious."...friend's of mine that can't borrow money..."

Wall Street will collapse because Donald Trump's friends need to borrow money. Amazing. What does that say about Donald Trump's friends.

Consumer advocates criticized House Republicans’ push to effectively defang the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau with a bill
passed late last week, but some observers warn that the bill’s biggest threat is that it opens the door to a repeat of the 2008 financial crisis.

I told you so. The USA is well on the way to sinking the global economy AGAIN.

“It really undermines supervision and it really destroys a lot of other protections against ‘too big to fail,’” said Marcus Stanley, policy director at Americans for Financial Reform. “It goes through and comprehensively disempowers regulators and weakens systemic risk regulation in a huge range of areas.”

Mike Konczal, a fellow at the Roosevelt Institute, characterized the Financial CHOICE Act — which is likely to be scaled back in the Senate — as an opening volley that lays out Republican priorities for regulatory rollback. “It sets a tone for how the GOP views financial reform overall,” he said.
