Rafah is on the border. It is a matter of strategic importance to Hamas to receive supplies from Iran. It is also a place where refugees can escape Gaza.
It is understandable why Hamas was willing to negotiate a ceasefire to stop the IDF from closing that door. In knowing the strategic importance to Hamas, it only realizes why the IDF has to take the city. I do believe this is the final border issue.
