"Good Night, Moon" - Musk has the better approach

First quarter

7.3 day old moon

48.7 percent lit

I have stated this before, the Moon is Earth's satellite. It is in perfect orbit around Earth. To use the moon for settlements or mining is a fool's errand. There is nothing to say there can't be a waystation on the Moon to transition to Mars, but, for a permanent settlement, it makes no sense. Earth is not that far away. To blast into the Moon is foolishness. It already has craters and the moon dust is very fine and easily displaced. The moon environment is not a place to cause more moon dust. The entire idea of mining the moon is not based in scientific reality. LEAVE THE MOON ALONE.

I am not saying Jeff Bezos should give up on a space venture if that is his passion, but, the moon is not the answer to space exploration. To be realistic, I think space stations need to be perfected before any deep space challenge is attempted.

Musk, the founder of SpaceX, (click here) wants to launch people to Mars, establish a self-sustaining city there, and use the red planet as a base from which to further explore the solar system.

Bezos, meanwhile, talks of using his rocket company, Blue Origin, to put a permanent base on the moon, build up huge space colonies, and eventually have 1 trillion people living and working in space....
