I don’t know anyone that has walked through hell to save their own lives and those of their children that would ignore “the next step” to citizenship.
I ran into this when working in home care during the HIV outbreak when it was new. Children were being born with the need to receive regular intravenous antibody treatment and the Hispanic community in Massachusetts was undereducated to what HIV was, how it was transmitted, and how to prevent infection. The reason they were undereducated about the virus and its prevention is because they didn’t read or speak English. We, as a team, had to teach them about being well with pamphlets and those that spoke the language. We took ownership of the problem.
The legal status immigrants that “did it right” haven’t registered for the next status because they don’t know. Send two or three Social Workers as a group who speak the language to their communities with necessary documents to bring them up to speed. Have police escort for everyone’s security. The documents are at least SOMETHING to provide guidance to authorities along the way.
We don’t know that ANY of the executive orders Trump signed can hold water. Proceed with normal avenues of legal pathways until judges weigh in about this stuff.
Don’t worry about it. Just do it. For humanities’ sake try to help them.
Look, there is no energy emergency. The 14th Amendment has more clout than Trump. Congress is pathetically putting forward a budget while they grandstand politically on an unnecessary federal measure regarding abortion. It is coming together slowly, so keep going.
Be brave. Care. It’s okay to care. Don’t interfere with law enforcement when they present themselves. Abhor violence and avoid it at all costs.
Language barriers create confusion and fear. Those that want to remove those barriers will be welcome.
Trump is a criminal and racketeer.
Go forward with pride and love of others. The immigrants have the right idea and good intentions. They wouldn’t have come here otherwise. They have obeyed the law and guidelines all this time.
