This is how it is being sold to the public. Lots of compassion for and we are back to naming laws for victims. The fact of the matter is there are already laws on the books to place alerts to victims, family and community when felons are released from prison or jail. This amendment is not necessary. The notification system is electronic and so long as the current information is there for people who need to know, the system works. If it doesn't work then it needs to be repaired or updated, but, there is no need for another law.

By the way, when is Florida going to adopt a law named for the people that die without health insurance every year? They leave behind husbands, wives, children and families. Somehow a revised constitution doesn't seem complete without a healthcare provision that gives families of the poor and working poor their medications when their income excepts Medicaid which is really easy to exceed these days.

That’s why I am supporting a constitutional amendment that would grant and ensure victims and their families the right to be heard. The Florida Constitution Revision Commission has a unique opportunity this year to make changes to our state constitution.

After her funeral, her family walked into a grocery store where they were confronted by the murderer. They had never even been informed he had been released on bail....
