These are nearly simutaneous satellites of the same event in the Gulf of Mexico. It is easily discerned the 'support' system for Dean extends to the equator and into the tropical Atlantic and Pacific. These storms have characteristics of traditional hurricanes be receive 'energy' infusions from much larger systems.

I don't have a loop for this, but, the Gulf storm known as Dean which reaches into the Pacific now estimated to be a Cat 1 with 70 (slight over 80 mph) knot winds. It still has incredible loft to it's 'eye' and why these storms are so very different is because they are not autonomous in the heat and humidity that supports them. These storms are more a hybrid from the traditional hurricanes, so they can pack more punch especially it would seem in their storm surges.

While other news reveals a downed USA Helicopter where all 14 are feared dead and ONLY 500 leaks at the Botched Bechtel Big Dig in Boston. Hey, be grateful, it could have been 501. Imagine that 15 dead in Iraq and less than that from a Cat 5 hurricane. Something is "W"rong with this picture. Could it be the difference in leadership? I think so.
