What is an illegitimate government? My definition.

One never bargained for. Departing from the regular or expected. Presented out of deception and manipulation. Sort of a like applying 'Truth in Advertising' to government authority. In other words there is 'poor performance,' 'incompetency' and then simply 'premediated criminal intent.'

In the case of Iran if there is a government directive that suddenly turns against the people of that nation; a legitimately elected government can become an illegitimate government. Especially, if the strategy used by the government disaffects the people and alienates them away from their expected futures.

In the year 2007 we don't expect the world to change so radically that day to day confuses the future. When I wake up in the morning, short of a minor incident in life like a cold or traffic accident that affects only me, I sincerely expect to carry out my expected activity of the day. Iranian people are not far from that parameter either. Iran is not a war torn country and while there are political issues I sincerely don't see any reason why Iranians would be arrested or jailed for carrying out 'normal' activities. Political unrest is different than government domination of lives, futures and treasure. Political unrest does not have to be dominated by violence.

Do I believe the American Neocons currently 'occupying' the Executive Branch is illegitimate? Absolutely. They are criminals all the way to the White House. The "W"rong doing by this administration is significant. So, I sincerely feel that a legitimately elected government can become an illegitimate government when the people of a nation find themselves 'captives' of it's power. Absolutely.
