September 5, 2005. It's about darn time. Whoever expected this level of incompetent, negligence or racism. I don't want to hear how it is not either. People don't stop to realize how decisions are made because a community seems insigificant. When a populous of people 'get by' on government programs or are the working poor they don't make a big splash that demands attention. They also are oppressed and until their lives are completely threatened don't demonstrate or get upset enough to demand to be safe from levees that are questionably fit to protect them. Let the newspapers in this country and around the world realize who they are serving and who is UNDER-REPRESENTED that have not just their best interests ignored but their very lives in danger. I congratulate "The Times-Picayune" for finally coming out of it's oppression. I expect much, much more of the same.
