At the beginning of President Obama's first term he pushed for the development of "Green Chemistry."

Green chemistry (click here) is the design of chemical products and processes that reduce or eliminate the generation of hazardous substances. EPA's efforts to speed the adoption of this revolutionary and diverse discipline have led to significant environmental benefits, innovation and a strengthened economy. A Pike Research Report from 2011 concluded that green chemicals will save industry $65.5 billion by 2020.

The Obama Administration has made the USA safer with funding for this program.
