June 5, 2006. 6:00 PM. Not very different from last week. The peninsula still has the highest temperatures but less of it is above freezing. It's just that it is far less optimistic that the ice shelves will return any time soon. As long as they are compromised the terraces won't regenerate and the standing ice itself can be undermined with direct contact with the warmer air surrounding the continent. This time of year the very coldest temperatures see little sunlight and are the extremist points south on Earth. Posted by Picasa
