September 10, 2005. Pascagoula, Mississippi.

This picture bothered me a bit. I have long been a fan of brick structures in areas with turbulent weather especially tornadoes. There are other pictures on this blog that bear that out. The idea that a brick structure will withstand nearly any force of nature including hurricanes/tornadoes with the exception of a roof, but, people would be safe in that structure.

This defies that.

The house next door is not a brick structure and is standing. The hammock is near the top of the trees but the trees are standing with some fallen branches. This is supposed to be a brick house and not just a foundation.

It is an odd occurrence.

A worry.

But, most certainly an event that defies any force I have noted about such a storm before. It had to be a tornado OR whirlpool. The more I look at the branches lying about it seems like a severe whirlpool to me.

Photographer states :: A brick house once stood here, wiped away by Katrina. Notice the hammock up in the trees in the background. Taken in Pascagoula, Mississippi almost two weeks after Katrina hit.
