The Chicago Skyway is closed due the high winds and debris on the roadway on Nov. 12, 2015.
Chicago police (click here) shut down part of the Skyway on Thursday morning after debris kicked up by high winds struck two semis.
The Skyway closed down between 91st and 106th streets around 2:20 a.m. after winds blew cables from nearby scaffolding onto the road and two semis were hit, according to authorities. One truck's windshield was broken and another's side mirror was broken. No injuries were reported.
Police expect the Skyway to remain closed most of Thursday due to the high winds.
Downed power lines were reported across the Chicago area, causing scattered outages, according to Commonwealth Edison and fire officials. There were no reports of significant damage.
Wind gusts up to 50 mph were expected to persist throughout the area into the afternoon, with the strongest mostly south of Interstate 80, according to the National Weather Service....
