Closed Skyway
Brian Jackson / Chicago Tribune
The Chicago Skyway is closed due the high winds and debris on the roadway on Nov. 12, 2015.
Chicago police (click here) shut down part of the Skyway on Thursday morning after debris kicked up by high winds struck two semis. The
Skyway closed down between 91st and 106th streets around 2:20 a.m.
after winds blew cables from nearby scaffolding onto the road and two
semis were hit, according to authorities. One truck's windshield was
broken and another's side mirror was broken. No injuries were reported. Police expect the Skyway to remain closed most of Thursday due to the high winds. Downed
power lines were reported across the Chicago area, causing scattered
outages, according to Commonwealth Edison and fire officials. There
were no reports of significant damage. Wind gusts up to 50 mph were expected to persist
throughout the area into the afternoon, with the strongest mostly south
of Interstate 80, according to the National Weather Service....
