Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg (click here) struggled to explain the social media company’s new policy on fact-checking political ads under questioning from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., during a Wednesday hearing.
The company recently announced that to protect political speech it would no longer fact-check ads from politicians, essentially allowing campaigns to pay Facebook to spread disinformation.
At the hearing of the House Financial Services Committee, Zuckerberg said the company’s policy was to take down posts from anyone, including politicians, calling for violence or attempting to suppress voter turnout or participation in the census, but his response to other questions was less clear.
“Could I run ads targeting Republicans in primaries saying that they voted for the Green New Deal?” asked Ocasio-Cortez. “If you’re not fact-checking political advertisements, I’m just trying to understand the bounds here, what’s fair game.”...

What's the code of principles of the International Fact-Checking Network?
At first glance, this looks like a dumping ground for responsible management of information. The organization was formed in 2015 and to date, this is the first time anyone concerned about fair and free elections has heard of it yet alone it's reliability and scope. It says it is global, but, to what standard does such a small organization sift through daily fact-checking from around the world?
To what extent does Mr. Zukerberg understand the process this organization carries out fact-checking and to what proof has he measured their reliability?\
I do not believe there are any standards other than the media professional ethics to define quality fact-checking. There is no legislation setting a standard, either state or federal, that I am aware of to date. MDs, lawyers, and even business accounting firms have regulations regarding professional standards; in a world of lies and propaganda where is the gold standard? How reliable is Facebook in it's trust of this global organization?
The International Fact-Checking Network (click here) is a unit of the Poynter Institute dedicated to bringing together fact-checkers worldwide. The IFCN was launched in September 2015 to support a booming crop of fact-checking initiatives by promoting best practices and exchanges in this field.

This is common to the disrespect Republicans have for the US Constitution and the Democratic party.
Speaker Pelosi needs to send the Capitol Police to the meeting room to restore order. This occurred before, not with US Senators, but, it has occurred before.
When the Florida recount was being conducted following the 2000 elections, a group of rude and irreverent Republicans stormed the official state counting room.
Send the Capitol Police to restore order to the CLOSED SESSION meeting room. Bring the dogs.

Is the media going to continue to take this "fake news" lying down?
There is no such thing as fake news. Either the media is reporting correctly or there are errors that need to be corrected. Retractions and corrections are issued in the media when reporting doesn't track with the facts. So why is Hannity allowed to harass Trump and Trump just slither away to carry out Hannity's directions to enhance the propaganda that is Fake News and the Deep State?
The Times and the Post can't allow a Fox News commentator to slander them and just let it slip by. The White House is not supposed to ignore the news of the day. This is outrageous and something needs to be done. Fox, Hannity and the spineless president, Trump should be held accountable for continued defaming of the media services in the country.

The White House (click here) said Tuesday it will not be renewing subscriptions to The New York Times and The Washington Post, two papers the president frequently attacks as “fake” and which he suggested canceling the previous night in a TV appearance.
Monday on Fox News’ “Hannity,” President Donald Trump called the Times “a fake newspaper” and said “we don’t even want it in the White House anymore.”“We’re going to probably terminate that and The Washington Post,” Trump said. “They’re fake.”
Trump’s “terminate” remarks were interpreted by journalists on Twitter as meaning canceling paper subscriptions, rather than kicking reporters out of the White House. White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham confirmed to POLITICO that he was talking about subscriptions, “which we won’t be renewing.”’
Representatives from the Post and Times declined to comment....
