Washington - A significant number of young people (click here) are registering to vote in Florida, and they could tilt this year’s midterm elections in the nation’s largest swing state, according to a new analysis of voter registration patterns.

The analysis by TargetSmart, a data firm that works on behalf of Democrats, shows that the share of newly registered Florida voters between the ages of 18-29 increased by eight percentage points in the two and a half months after the Valentine’s Day mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Voters between the ages of 18-29 made up 26.23 percent of all new voter registrations in Florida in the two and a half months before Feb. 14, 2018. In the two and a half months after the shooting, young voters made up 34.22 percent of all new voter registrations in Florida....

Parkland — Nine months (click here) after 17 classmates and teachers were gunned down at their Florida school, Parkland students are finally facing the moment they’ve been leading up to with marches, school walkouts and voter-registration events throughout the country: their first Election Day.

The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student activists set their sights on the 4 million U.S. citizens turning 18 this year. They’re hoping to counteract the voter apathy that’s especially prevalent among the youth during midterm elections. Many of the activists, now household names like David Hogg, postponed college plans to mobilize young voters. Many of them support gun reform, in the name of their fallen classmates....

According to the Washington Post, (click here) new research from University of Florida political scientist Daniel Smith indicates that 18-21 year old voters in Parkland, Florida  a city that has become synonymous both with school shooting violence and civic youth engagement  saw an unusually high number of mail-in ballots rejected during the 2018 midterm election:

About 1 in 7 mail-in ballots submitted by college-age voters in Parkland were rejected or failed to arrive in time to be counted, according to an analysis. The findings are adding to questions about the reliability and fairness of the Florida electoral system, including its ballot signature requirement that became a flash point in the November recount between U.S. Sen Rick Scott (R) and the Democrat he ousted from office, Bill Nelson....
There needs to be a thorough investigation to the death of a Sandy Hook parent. It is reported he was under constant harassment by political conspiracy theorists.

When does Trump surrender to Russia, before of after they fly bombers over the USA?

This level of a foreign power should never be tolerated near shore of the USA. Yet, there it is. The bombers carrying nukes need pilots.

Two Russian military planes (click here) landed in Venezuela's main airport on Saturday, reportedly carrying dozens of troops and large amounts of equipment.

The planes were sent to "fulfil technical military contracts", Russia's Sputnik news agency reported.

Javier Mayorca, a Venezuelan journalist, wrote on Twitter that he saw about 100 troops and 35 tonnes of equipment offloaded from the planes.

It comes three months after the two nations held joint military exercises.

Russia has long been an ally of Venezuela, lending the South American nation billions of dollars and backing its oil industry and military.

Russia has also vocally opposed moves from the US to impose sanctions on the government of Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro....

The Russian general leading the invasion into Venezuela is Vasily Tonkoshhurov (click here).

The foreign invasion mentioned in this article is the USA. The USA has a right to be in the Western Hemisphere, Russia does not.

...Vladimir Putin sent his First Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Land Forces, Colonel General Vasily Tonkoshkurov, to assure the Bolivarian Republic that Russia stands ready to assist the country in times of foreign aggression....

...A flight-tracking website showed that two planes left from a Russian military airport bound for Caracas on Friday, and another flight-tracking site showed that one plane left Caracas on Sunday.

That comes three months after the two nations held military exercises on Venezuelan soil that President Nicolas Maduro called a sign of strengthening relations, but which Washington criticized as a “Russian encroachment in the region.”...

I might point out Maduro does not need nuclear capacity jets to suppress the civil war in his country.

McConnell is obstructing the separation of powers. It is the responsibility of Congress to provide oversight and McConnell is having none of it.

25 March 2019

Washington - U.S. Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell (click here) on Monday blocked a second attempt by Democrats to pass a measure aimed at prodding the Justice Department to release to the public Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Earlier this month, the House of Representatives voted 420-0 in favor of making the report public, with no Republican opposition.

On Sunday, Attorney General William Barr informed Congress that Mueller had concluded that President Donald Trump’s campaign did not collude with Russia to influence the outcome of the 2016 election. But the probe left unresolved the question of whether Trump engaged in obstruction of justice.

“There is no good reason not to make the report public,” Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said.

What is McConnell hiding?

It depends on the source, but, the idea the Special Council was HOUSED in the DOJ is nonsense as to the outcome of the findings.

Robert Mueller didn't have a boss housed in the DOJ. He was the boss. I am quite confident the decision to hand the findings of the Special Council to the AG and Asst. AG was due to any idea of conflict of interest or retribution for the firing of James Comey. I fully expect Robert Mueller believed the AG would act in good faith to the findings and carry out the final decision to indict. It would unite the country in understanding the impact of dealing at any level with a hostile enemy as if a friend.

Special Council (click herecounsel appointed to fill a particular need, a government official charged with protecting employees from illegal practices by employers and especially from employer reprisal for whistleblowing

Here is the law (click here):

§ 600.6 Powers and authority.
Subject to the limitations in the following paragraphs, the Special Counsel shall exercise, within the scope of his or her jurisdiction, the full power and independent authority to exercise all investigative and prosecutorial functions of any United States Attorney. Except as provided in this part, the Special Counsel shall determine whether and to what extent to inform or consult with the Attorney General or others within the Department about the conduct of his or her duties and responsibilities.

The LAW is obvious. The build up by the White House of the importance of the Attorney General is nonsense. Special Council Mueller had full authority of the law of the USA to bring about an outcome that should be received in full by the USA Congress and quite possibly the American people.

Robert Mueller handed the findings to the AG to submit it to the process and that didn't happen. Barr truncated the authority of the Special Council by issuing a stupid letter.

It would seem that Asst. AG Rosenstein was able to wrench the AG's arm enough to reveal there is no exoneration of Trump and that is the truth. While Robert Mueller did not subpoena the president for direct questions or submit indictments for him and his family, he fully expected the AG to carry out the FACTS and provide the Congress with the same.

The AG is obstructing the process and is truncating the authority of the US Congress as well as the DOJ.
I am not surprised Former Director of the FBI Mueller left any indictments of Trump and his family to the Attorney General. Robert Mueller was given the task of the investigation only a few days after Jim Comey was fired. The two men knew each other. If the Special Council handed down an indictment against Trump and/or his family it would be viewed as revenge for Comey's firing. Robert Mueller would not compromise the country in that way. The Former Director would not allow something as petty as a conflict of interest enter into the picture when the outcome was the well being of the country. I strongly believe Robert Mueller would ignore his best instincts to provide a tamper proof investigation.
Little Known Fact

The word psychopath is no longer used in the profession. But, one of the cardinal signs of such a person is indifference to tragedy and death and the ability to talk one's way out of trouble.

Being void and perhaps openly hostile toward suffering is not a normal state of mind, especially when it is attached to money.

It may be too early in Trump's presidency (click here) to tell if his "America First" foreign policy is a success or failure. But, this report reveals U.S. alliances and partnerships are at risk.

The median worldwide who disapproval of the leadership of:

USA - 43 percent
Russia - 36 percent
China - 30 percent
Germany - 25 percent

Approval of USA leadership:

40 percent drop in Canada
28 percent drop in Mexico

I think it is time for the Clintons to sue Lindsey Graham, the RNC and the president for slandering their names as fodder for their base. There is nothing that implicates either Bill or Hillary in wrong doing anywhere. The laws Trump likes to point to were enacted AFTER Hillary Clinton served as Secretary of State. The electronic White House was first established by President Barak Obama, I think his cabinet would remember when the new federal GUIDELINES were passed.

Trump Demands Reporters Be Fired After Release Of Mueller Report. (click here for Washington Post article - thank you)

Trump is obsessed with the media, mostly the news media. He is not to dictate the role of the press to his presidency. He has a lot of shady dealings with USA enemies. I remind, a Washington Post journalist has been murdered because of freedom of speech in a Saudi embassy. Donald Trump will not dictate the composition of the USA press pool.

One thing that is rarely said about Trump is that the product he produced was not about wealth, except for his own. The Trump brand is about fraud. I still wonder why his role in Trump University hasn't landed him an indictment. And Trump U. is just the surface of a life of extravagant spending and financial failures. That pattern is usually attributed to a con man.

Now, this is interesting.

William Safire, if memory serves me well, was a conservative columnist with the New York Times. Bill Safire retired while "W" was in office. But, his replacement is still there today, namely the highly acclaimed columnist, David Brooks. I think most folks consider Brooks to be a conservative columnist.

No one can take away the patriotic luster of George H. W. Bush. The man was an American hero. But, of course, there would be fallout from Reagan's Iran-Contra days that would land at the desk of the Vice President. So, it was Barr that covered all that up.

I don't recall hearing anything about H.W.'s involvement with Iran-Contra or something called "Iraqgate?" If this is Barr's claim to fame than he is a cover-up expert and that is the reason he is in the AG chair right now.

Back in 1992, (click here) the last time Bill Barr was U.S. attorney general, iconic New York Times writer William Safire referred to him as “Coverup-General Barr” because of his role in burying evidence of then-President George H.W. Bush’s involvement in “Iraqgate” and “Iron-Contra.”
General Barr has struck again—this time, in similar fashion, burying Mueller’s report and cherry-picking fragments of sentences from it to justify Trump’s behavior. In his letter, he notes that Robert Mueller “leaves it to the attorney general to decide whether the conduct described in the report constitutes a crime.”...

Sorry to hear Michael Avenatti has been charged with extortion of a major USA company, "Nike." Nike is multinational and among the top Wall Street earning companies. Why did Avenatti think he could get away with it? I hope he has a good defense.

What bothers me about such indictments is that Avenatti is a Trump foe. That should concern everyone to make sure the facts are correct and the trial or other proceedings are appropriate.

Why asylum? To believe in human life.

On March 25, 1949, (click here) the Soviet government deported nearly 100,000 people from occupied Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania to Siberia.

There is a lot about the Trump criminality that is being ignored.

Let there be no doubt, Former Director Comey's firing is obstruction of justice because there was already an investigation underway regarding Russian influence in the 2016 elections. William Barr isn't even protecting the FBI.

Donald Trump has been very successful in hiding his criminal activities. Let no one forget he was seeking to build a Trump Tower in Moscow up to the day he won the election. There were sanctions in place. He should not have been pursuing it at all.

Then there are all the people involved with him and his family directly that have been charged, tried and/or plead guilty. No other president has had the issues that Trump has had and continues to have. He refuses to find qualified candidates for high level government positions. That has to be at least a breach in ethics.

The Trump Charities was closed down because of corruption within the Trump family. There is definitely criminality within Trump and his business practices. So Americans need to remain vigilant. He is not a good president.

There needs to be rule of law returned to the ability of the DOJ to indict a sitting president. The entire idea that a sitting president is above the law leads to events such as treason with impunity. Those standards are toxic to democracy.

And don't forget the criminals of the Trump CROWD. There have been credible attempts of terrorism on the press and Democratic leaders. It has never been stated by Trump that he does not approve of such activity.

There is a lot about Trump that is not decent, ethical or exactly legal.

Is there any link between these people and White Nationalists or White Supremacists?

Not to diminish the crimes perpetrated in the past, but, what are these people both personally and professionally pursuing today?

A German industrial dynasty (click here) with big stakes in various international brands has admitted brutality towards slave labourers during Nazi rule.
A partner in JAB Holding, Peter Harf, said the Reimann family was shocked by links to Nazi abuses, discovered by the Bild am Sonntag newspaper in archives.
"[Albert] Reimann senior and Reimann junior were guilty... they belonged actually in prison," said Mr Harf.
The family will donate €10m (£8.6m) "to a suitable organisation", he said.
Bild am Sonntag reports (in German) that female slaves from Nazi-occupied eastern Europe - treated as racially inferior - were beaten and sexually abused at Reimann premises in Ludwigshafen, in the Rhineland. Among them was a Russian maid.
The Reimann family fortune today is estimated at €33bn, which would make it Germany's second-wealthiest family.
JAB Holding, their investment firm, has major stakes in various consumer brands, including Keurig Dr Pepper beverages, Coty Inc beauty products, Jacobs Douwe Egberts coffee and the Pret A Manger sandwich chain....

There is a lot of work to be done in regard to escalating gun violence.

Gun dealers have to prove they can secure their stock from theft and unlicensed dealers need to be found and prosecuted. Laws need to reflect the danger the country faces and written to strengthen measures to end gun violence. This is not about drug possession although it tends to go hand in hand. This is about securing citizens, including those like children that do not yet have a vote.

As disgraced former police officer Richard Wince (click here) awaited sentencing last year for illegal gun dealing, his lawyer told the judge Wince had already learned a hard lesson and asked that his client receive probation.

The prosecutor, however, pressed for prison time. Wince—as a cop—should have known better than anyone the risks associated with his black-market gun sales, he argued.

But there was one issue on which both sides could agree: The law under which Wince was about to be sentenced that day in a federal courtroom in Virginia was badly flawed.

It's "unconstitutionally vague," the defense attorney said.

"I'm not a big fan of the statute," the prosecutor conceded.

Both men were referring to the Firearms Owners' Protection Act, a decades-old federal statute originally proposed by the National Rifle Association that dictates who is required to have a license to sell guns, and who is not....

The political right wing has enacted corrupt legislation that does not serve any purpose in protecting citizens from harm. This act was passed some time ago and needs to be reviewed for it's worthiness. This was enacted by a Republican from Illinois and it is dangerous law.

S.49 - Firearms Owners' Protection Act (click here)
99th Congress (1985-1986)

Firearms Owners' Protection Act - Amends the Gun Control Act of 1968 to redefine "gun dealer," excluding those making occasional sales or repairs. Exempts certain activities involving ammunition from current prohibitions.

Permits the interstate sale of rifles and shotguns, provided: (1) the transferee and transferor meet in person to accomplish the transfer; and (2) such sale complies with the laws of both States. Presumes the licensee to have actual knowledge of the laws of both States.

Repeals certain recordkeeping requirements for the sale of ammunition (but retaining such requirements for armor-piercing ammunition).

Revises the current prohibition against the sale of firearms or ammunition to certain categories of individuals by: (1) prohibiting such sales by all persons (current law covers only licensees); and (2) including as additional categories illegal aliens, dishonorably discharged members of the armed forces, and U.S. citizens who renounce their citizenship. Extends the prohibition against shipping firearms or ammunition in interstate or foreign commerce to include such individuals.

Makes it unlawful, with certain exceptions, for any individual to transfer or possess a machine gun.

Excludes pawnbrokers dealing in ammuniction from current licensing requirements. Declares that a licensed dealer's personal collection of firearms shall not be subject to recordkeeping requirements.in specific circumstances.

Permits the Secretary of the Treasury to revoke a license only where the holder "willfully" violates a provision of this Act....

That last provision is especially precious. With the liberalness of the law, there are few to no ways to violent the law. The law does nothing to protect citizens form the corruption it promotes. It is a bad law and needs to be ripped out by the roots.

Trump never expected this gathering to become public knowledge.

This isn't Nixon, this is worse than Nixon.

The Barr Report stated there was no collusion between Russia and the Trump Campaign. Why did they show up for classified information shortly after the inauguration?

The Barr Report doesn't make sense from the evidence that exists. In stating he would not indict a sitting president or his family, Barr is not only pandering to Trump's deepest fears but, he has opened the USA to further meddling.

Treason isn't just about soldiers and their strategy. That is propaganda. The longer Trump gets away with his violation of the trust of the presidency, the more damage he will do.

18 US Code 2381. Treason. (click here)

Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

Trump is a servant to Putin. No one can deny that.

March 24, 2019

So much about the rise of Donald Trump defied reason. (click here) But in the spring of 2016, he displayed one habit that I found beyond perplexing: He couldn’t stop praising Vladimir Putin. What made his obsequiousness so galling was that it often came in response to questions that warranted moral disdain: What about the assassination of journalists critical of the Russian government? Are you bothered by the invasion of Crimea? Whereas most of Trump’s policy positions shifted over the course of the campaign, his apologetics for Putin were a rare source of constancy.

As Trump raced to the Republican nomination, I began to search for ulterior explanations for Trump’s adoration of Putin—and the fact that his campaign served as a magnet for so many advisers and consultants with ties to Russian interests. On July 4, 2016, I published a piece in Slate pointing to Putin’s pattern of intervening on behalf of candidates hostile to the Western alliance, and arguing that we were seeing the same sort of interference unfolding in the United States. And I spent much of the next three years trying to understand the nature of that interference....

...As Michael Kinsley famously quipped, “The scandal isn’t what’s illegal; the scandal is what’s legal.” Lying to the electorate, adjusting foreign policy for the sake of personal lucre, and undermining an investigation seem to me pretty sound impeachable offenses—they might also happen to be technically legal.

Through his investigation, Mueller has also provided a plausible answer to the question that first bothered me. Trump’s motive for praising Putin appears to have been, in large part, commercial. With his relentless pursuit of Trump Tower Moscow, the Republican nominee for president had active commercial interests in Russia that he failed to disclose to the American people. In fact, he explicitly and shamelessly lied about them....

Trump is the fool that Putin always hoped for. Trump believes Russia wants to be friends. Friends don't park nuclear capacity jets in Venezuela.

...hoping to convince the Russians that he was a good partner. To enrich himself, Trump promised to realign American foreign policy.

This is the very definition of corruption, and it provides the plot line that runs through the entirety of Trump’s political life....

...But Mueller has apparently endorsed the fundamental underlying case emanating from the intelligence community: The Russians were actively working to secure Trump’s victory. What makes their interference so horrifying is that it involved the theft of information and the active manipulation of public perceptions. All of that is arguably far worse than Watergate....

Erdogan is using the White Nationalist attack in New Zealand as a campaign tool.

By Zeynep Bilginsoy and Susan Fraser

Istanbul — New Zealand's deputy prime minister (click here) said the gunman accused of killing 50 people in two mosques in the South Pacific nation would spend the rest of his life in isolation in prison and called for solidarity to eradicate "hate-filled ideologies."

Winston Peters was speaking at an emergency session of the 57-member Organization of Islamic Cooperation's executive committee called by Turkey to combat prejudice against Muslims in the wake of the attack.

Peters' attendance comes amid controversy sparked by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan who, at election campaign rallies, has been screening video clips of the attack, despite efforts by New Zealand to prevent the video's spread.

Erdogan also drew Australia's ire for comments suggesting that Australians and New Zealanders with anti-Muslim sentiments would be sent back in coffins like their ancestors who fought against Turks in the World War I Battle of Gallipoli....

"Okeydoke"

And that is exactly what Barr said to Trump to take the AG spot. "Okeydoke, no indicting a sitting president or his family."

It is a corrupt White House, the US House has to continue to conduct oversight.

The country is no longer a place that is "of the people." It is a place that is of the Dollar. It shows every in the politics and now the Midwest may not recover for sometime due to that fact.

There is no sense in rebuilding levees that will collapse again when the next rainy season occurs. There needs to be a comprehensive plan for the climate crisis in the USA and it better occur as soon as possible before more levees or dams in the country break. This is not a minor issue. Government has neglected the people in regard to securing the future for decades. It is time the people realize American scientists have been correct all along. The evidence is in and there is no doubting the reality of their words.

Twenty-five years ago a comet named "Shoemaker-Levy 9" sent a fragment into Jupiter. The date was July 21, 1994. It was one of the first real viral experiences on the world wide web.

See the comet fragment left a dent in Jupiter. Jupiter is a gas giant composed of primarily hydrogen and helium. it is a good thing Jupiter is in the cooler part of the solar system. But, the gaseous nature of Jupiter means that a dent might be permanent. Sure enough, in 1994 when that comet fragment hit Jupiter has left a scar. This is still Jupiter 25 years later.
