The Congress of the USA is a powerful body. For as poorly its rating on any given day its power is significant so long as it doesn’t abdicate to a dictator. It is time it have rules to live by that respects the people they represent and not regard their constituents as political tools.
I disagree with Senator Kennedy more often than I agree with him, but, this expression of respect for the people of this country is valued by me more than he knows. I value the people who I have elected. They are human beings with families and responsibilities, too. I hold no malice toward them for any of their votes and as they approach these two bills they should consider their own circumstances and those of their colleagues to pass one or both of the bills.
As human beings we need our circumstances to provide for basic needs. I think everyone knows what those needs are. There is no debate to what allows for good health, including food and water. If we all can please simply address the basic needs of every American, especially that of children, our status as a great country will return. A great country is not based on its military alone.
These bills provide brevity to the decisions that accompany a shut down of the federal government. The decision to pass them should be made with brevity. One or both should become law.
Thank you, Senator Kennedy.
By the way, the Democrats are principled, not emotional.
