The states need to work with one vendor. Jeff Bezos. Let him be their purchasing agent and his employees have to be protected too.

One vendor for all 50 states.

This is a deadly paradigm and Trump engineered it. The reason is not important, The fact it exists is.

Trump has a lot to answer for when it comes to the USA government supplying ANY equipment to commercial sellers with international customers. He has a lot to answer for even providing federal supplies to a commercial vendor during a national emergency.

TO DATE TRUMP HAS DONE NOTHING, INCLUDING SUBMITTING PPE TO COMMERCIAL VENDORS, TO SUCCESSFULLY PROTECT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. IT HAS BEEN THE GOVERNORS THE ENTIRE TIME AND NOW THEY HAVE THE BURDEN OF SUING THEIR OWN FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO END THIS HEINOUS PARADIGM WITH TRUMP. I THINK THERE IS A ROLE FOR THE STATE ATTORNEY GENERALS.

GET THIS BEFORE A COURT. THE PROFESSIONALS UNIONS ARE ALSO PLAINTIFFS.

Trump wants every transaction to be a profit for the US Treasury with the goal of never having to pay taxes again. That is why he started the tariffs. This is the same thing.

There needs to be a balance sheet provided by Munchkin at the US Treasury regarding the buying and selling of federal items that are assigned an understanding of making a difference between the life and death of a hospital worker.

Every nurse and doctor in the USA has a right to sue Trump personally and the US Federal Government in general for causing the exportation of PPE and/or ventilators. The states should be receiving these items through FEMA without cost during a national emergency and based only on need.

Get this. FEMA is seeking 100,000 body bags from the military. Are those body bags going to commercial vendors as well? If not, why not? Why are body bags more important to provide to the states than PPE?

The professional unions need to mobilize their lawyers.

I have never heard of sterilizing N95 masks, but, given the reality of the federal government negligence, this may be very necessary.

Hydrogen Peroxide mist? I hope it isn't irritating to the wearer's skin. The danger of rushing to sterilize masks on a large scale without sound research is the illness of entire professional staff and then the patients would die anyway. I am very skeptical.

H2O2 is a harsh disinfectant. A 3 percent solution can clean fomite to kill average coronavirus. But, woven N95 face masks? I wouldn't trust the fibers. I hope I am wrong.

An N95 mask is not at all a surgical mask. It has a specific structure and fibers. When wearing the mask, if the fibers begin to become soft, then the practice is to change the mask to be sure the wearer is not compromised.

This is from Stanford University.

Researchers from Stanford and other universities scoured the scientific literature to create N95decon.org, a web portal that medical professionals can access for trustworthy information on how to decontaminate used N95 masks.

As health workers and first responders (click here) in the United States try to stem a pandemic without adequate protective gear, health officials are forced to consider a stopgap – decontaminating and reusing N95 masks to shield those whose jobs expose them to the virus that causes COVID-19.

Today, a team of 60 scientists and engineers, students and clinicians, drawn from universities and the private sector, are unveiling N95decon.org, a website that synthesizes the scientific literature about mask decontamination to create a set of best practices to decontaminate and reuse this protective face covering during the current emergency.

“While there is no perfect method for decontamination of N95 masks, it is crucial that decision-makers and users have as much information as possible about the strengths and weaknesses of various approaches,” said Manu Prakash, an associate professor of bioengineering at Stanford who helped coordinate this ad hoc, volunteer undertaking. “We aim to provide information and evidence in this critical time to help those on the front lines of this crisis make risk management decisions given the specific conditions and limitations they face.”...
Ron DeSantis is the governor of Florida, right? I have to look it up. I don't pay attention to ignorant people. I think they are a waste of time.

Yep, Ronald Dion DeSantis. He was probably elected because he was once in the military. He is wrong and his decision to allow danger into Floridians lives by allowing religious services is most likely unconstitutional.

It would fall in the fact there is a national emergency due to a deadly virus. This is not the flu. So, people of conscience need to move against him and seek an injunction on the basis of violation of the national emergency.

Florida's COVID-19 Data and Surveillance Dashboard
Florida Department of Health, (click here) Division of Disease Control and Health Protection

That is not a small number.

Total cases 9008

Current deaths 144

That is a death rate of about 2 percent and it will go up as more and more cases manifest because Florida has engaged stay at home orders very, very late.

New York's current death rate is 3 percent (click here). That is as of today.

I believe given the fact the stay at home only started in Florida a couple of days ago, Florida's death rate will be a larger percentage than New York.

Florida's demographics as late as 2019 is 20 percent age 65 and older. (click here)

New York's demographics as late as 2019 is 16.4 percent of 65 and older (click here).

This is the danger that exists when the government prioritizes religion before life and the real role of government. Floridians should not put a great deal of confidence in a governor that can't even understand the danger of a deadly virus when no one in Florida has immunity.

Someone in Florida needs to sue him for allowing danger in the lives of the people.

I think schools should be close for the rest of the year. They are used to schooling at home by now. The beginning of the school next year will be a fresh start.

Gov. Jay Inslee (click here) is extending his order through May 4 that Washington residents stay at home and non-essential businesses remain closed.

For life to return to normal and the economy to be rebuilt, the governor said Washington must remain committed to social distancing, which means staying at least six feet apart from each other.

“We can’t give up or loosen our efforts in this regard. This is the critical moment -- the next several weeks,” Inslee said earlier Thursday during a question-and-answer session on Twitter.
It is what it is.

As the federal supplies find their way to the hotspots the governors have to carry out their priorities.

There are difficult decisions for the governors.

I believe New York State is instituting what is called "Pronouncing the Dead" authority to EMTs. That is not an unusual act for someone less than an MD. Nurses, be they RNs or LPNs, are taught how to pronounce, especially in Hospice in the home.

This would be a new responsibility for EMTs and of course regardless of discipline or certification or license any pronouncement has to be backed by an MD. EMTs are usually patched into an ER and doctors there can ask what the ambulance workers are finding and validate the pronouncement. With that, the person will be brought directly to a morgue.

This is going to sound cold, but, many people have pre-planned funerals and there are morticians that can reply to a death. That means if there is a pronouncement by an EMT on-site with the validation of an MD, the EMTs don't have to transport. They can remove their isolation gear and clean their hands in the ambulance (which is still clean) and go on to the next emergency. A mortician can be notified by the family and/or the hospital of the death and pronouncement and to pick up the person.

If morticians are brought in to transport the dead, there is usually an understanding as to the diagnosis of that person established by an MD in Hospice. In this instance, there is a stark difference in a COVID patient and a Non-COVID patient. So, if a mortician is to transport a person out of a home there needs to be a clear understanding that any unknown reason of death, ie: heart attack, etc.; means the body is taken to the morgue to hold in case it is a COVID death. But, allowing morticians to be involved will move ambulance calls along faster.

This is definitely a rather difficult issue and I believe the governors need to talk to the public and track their illness occurrences and deaths much in the way New York Governor Cuomo does on a regular basis.

I am sorry this is such a burden, but, it is how we carry that burden that matters.
This is a no brainer.

1,000,000 are infected with the virus globally.

There are 236,000 cases in the USA. That is 23.6 percent of the cases in the world.

Total deaths in the world is 50,000 and the USA is a full 10 percent of that.

200,000 people globally have recovered from the virus.

I am not worried about the unemployment rate. They are on leave from work in a mass lay-off. Their employers will be receiving, basically grants, that will pay their employees their normal pay until this national emergency is concluded. This is not a loss of jobs, YET, it is a mass lay off and they will be back to work as soon as it is safe. The "Workers First" law has provided for 14 weeks of pay to all the effected Americans. There is plenty of room for safety if the stay at home orders are extended past April.

I might point out that the million - billionaires that grabbed their money and ran were completely foolish. The USA economy is intact and a large number of Americans are on lay off TO PROTECT THEIR HEALTH.

The current markets have finally figured out what is going on and they are stable. There are not large fluctuations in the markets over the past week because the cowards realized they acted stupidly. If the markets held their ground rather than catering to the permanent yellow streak down their backs, the DOW would still be at 29 thousand.

Nothing here bothers me EXCEPT the number of people infected and the deaths.

I cannot believe Ellis Marcelis (click here) has died from this virus.

Jim Bernard, (click here) who has owned the Chevron in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood since April 2001, has seen what happens to the gasoline business when something shocks the economy.

But neither the 9/11 attacks nor the Great Recession prepared him for the coronavirus pandemic: where earlier downturns cut his gasoline sales by 10% to 20%, today’s slump has dropped them by two-thirds.

“It’s cratered,” said Bernard, 53, on a recent morning. “I mean, look at the cars out on the road and do the math.”

Most of Bernard’s peers are probably doing that same math.

With much of the Seattle area in coronavirus-containment mode, people are driving less — the King County section of Interstate 5, for example, has around half its normal traffic — and that’s meant fewer fill-ups at the region’s gas stations.

There needs to be an investigation into the money-grabbing Wall Streeters. Their greed cost Americans large losses in the 401Ks.

This is outrageous. The US House needs to evaluate what happened here.

This is not a political issue. The scathing letter was appropriate for a ship at sea with increasing crew members becoming ill and unable to serve in their capacity.

The Navy wants to know how the media got it? From a spouse, father, mother, sibling or friend of those on that ship. Anyone could be the leaker and the US Military has no right to remove a seasoned officer at a time of national emergency over a new article!

Who knows how they got the letter. Oh, may, a conspiracy to demand help for the sick.

If the military had listened to the first requests this wouldn't have happened at all. The commander had to distribute a memo to the sailors so they knew he was on their side and he was doing everything in his power to get them help.

The U.S. Navy (click here) is expected to relieve the commander of the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt, who wrote a scathing letter that leaked to the public asking the Navy for stronger measures to control a coronavirus outbreak on board, U.S. officials told Reuters on Thursday.

The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Captain Brett Crozier was being relieved not because he wrote the letter and sent it up through the chain of command but because the Navy believes he leaked it to the media.

One of the officials said a formal announcement could be made as early as Thursday.

Over 100 personnel on the 5,000-person ship have tested positive for the coronavirus so far.

I hope this medication sincerely works to defeat COVID-19

Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) (click here) is considered a disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD). It can decrease the pain and swelling of arthritis. It may prevent joint damage and reduce the risk of long-term disability. Hydroxychloroquine is in a class of medications that was first used to prevent and treat malaria. Today, it is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, some symptoms of lupus, childhood arthritis (or juvenile idiopathic arthritis) and other autoimmune diseases. It is not clear why hydroxychloroquine is effective at treating autoimmune diseases. It is believed that hydroxychloroquine interferes with the communication of cells in the immune system.

Besides waiting for good news, I was also wondering if the FDA would consider this medication as a prophylactic for those with compromising medical conditions until the vaccine is perfected?

There are serious side effects over time so this idea can't be taken lightly, but, since it is used as a treatment for serious disease it might be offered as a preventive measure for COVID-19.
I saw Speaker Pelosi on Andrea Mitchell's noon news report. I think both ladies are great. Nancy Pelosi is a great speaker. She is not afraid of anyone or anything. She had a new dress. I should say I don't recall seeing that dress on her before. It is a very nice ensemble or at least what I could see of it.

I was right about McConnell. He is such a rhetorical political animal. He never addresses issues with clarity, he just throws rhetoric at it. So tell us, Mitch, why is it you don't see another package to assistance to protect the people of the country? I mean he simply attacked the speaker without any clear indication that he understands the problems the country and it's people now face.

By George T. Conway, III

George T. Conway III is a lawyer and an adviser to the Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump super PAC. He is a co-founder of Checks & Balances, a network of lawyers advocating for the rule of law.

There should have been shame enough (click here) in orchestrating the acquittal of an impeached president who, in order to extort help for his reelection campaign, unlawfully withheld security aid to an ally. Shame enough in turning the Senate impeachment trial into a sham by refusing to hear a single live witness.

But it turns out Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) was just getting started.

On Tuesday, he added to the disgrace by claiming that impeachment distracted officials from dealing with the coronavirus. Speaking to radio host (and Post columnist) Hugh Hewitt, McConnell said the virus “came up while we were, you know, tied down in the impeachment trial. And I think it diverted the attention of the government, because everything, every day, was all about impeachment.”

This is gaslighting of the highest order. Leave aside that the president now claims that he presciently “felt it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic” and that he “always treated the Chinese Virus very seriously."...

While "Moscow" Mitch gaslights the public Trump was refusing the advice of all his advisors. He was suffering, as frequently he is, from gaslighting narcissism (click here) and spinning his own reality. It took days if not at least two weeks to stop Trump from lying about the future of the people of the country and their vulnerability to COVID-19.

I stated then that Trump was hoping the virus would simply be added to the annual deaths of the flu and the country wouldn't notice that COVID-19 was a danger to all Americans in a way the flu never has. Americans are vaccinated every year for the flu and there was absolutely no treatment and/or vaccine for COVID-19. Think about that. The president of the USA was actually willing to let Americans become exposed to a deadly virus hoping the statistics would fade into the flu statistics. That is more than gaslighting. There is a reason why he calls it coronavirus and not COVID-19.

But, I digress.

The Speaker is correct in beginning a bipartisan investigation into the COVID-19 response. There are a lot of moving parts, including the discovery of a Chinese scientist carrying a deadly virus into a Detroit airport. That is only the beginning of the events surrounding this disease that invaded the USA very deeply. The attempt to ignore this virus by the president only begins with a poorly executed plane ride for Americans coming from China. The group included people testing positive for COVID-19.

I am grateful for the fact there are a full 14 weeks of unemployment in the "Workers First" bill. I won't be collecting unemployment, but, I know many people facing bills without a check coming in every week. Families. It is a magnificent law.

I thank Speaker Pelosi for her dedicated leadership.
