Duluth, Minn. / Storm traps locals along Lake Superior
March 4, 2007
Geneva, Illinois
Photographer states :: The recent thaw, near flood and re-freeze has caused a bit of an ice jam at Fabyan Woods forest preserve.
The reason I noted the entry on the headline is the same reason I noted this picture. The thawing of massive ice build up will flood communities. Ice doesn't flood. It's a solid.
Lake Superior froze over this year. That's a lot of frozen water.
Gaisburg Mountain is host to an antenna which most citizens dislike but like the services the antenna delivers.
Especially when it comes to the tourist economy of skiing. The snow on the mountain for this time of year seems very sparse. Gaisberg is 1288 meters in elevation. That's like 4200 feet or something. There should be a lot more snow than this.
