Bolton is a failure. He was a failure when he was the UN Ambassador under "W." He alienated everyone at the UN and was mostly alone when he demanded to give a speech. He was horrible and he still is. He doesn't care who dies and neither does Trump. The difference between Bolton and Haley is that Bolton never has to be lectured by Trump to get it right.
Here, Bolton made the Middle East news. A USA national security adviser either doesn't have a strong stomach to listen to a torture tap or simply doesn't care about Americans, their interests, including safety for American citizens.

US National Security Adviser John Bolton (click here) has said he doesn't need to listen to the audio recording of Jamal Khashoggi’s murder because he doesn’t understand Arabic.
Speaking to reporters in a confrontational manner on Tuesday, Bolton asked: “Why do you think I should? What do you think I'll learn from it?”
“I’m just trying to make the point that everybody who says ‘why don’t you listen to the tape’ – unless you speak Arabic, what are you going to get from it?” he said.
Bolton's comments come as US President Donald Trump is under pressure from members of his own Republican party, as well as US intelligence officials and Democrats, to take decisive action to hold Saudi leaders accountable for Khashoggi's murder.
Trump's administration has defended Saudi Arabia and its crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, since the killing of Khashoggi, a Saudi journalist and prominent columnist for the Washington Post who was murdered inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on 2 October.
As national security adviser, Bolton reports directly to Trump on matters relating to foreign policy and military affairs and leads the National Security Council, which dictates the White House's national security policy to other branches of the federal government....

I am sure Russia would approve .
The government channel in the USA is C-Span. C-Span does a great job and exhibits no corruption. Enough of the harassment of the press and Trump needs to do his job and stop trying to sabotage the democracy of the USA.
CNN does a good job. They have good anchors. Wolf Blitzer is highly reputable and has been on international assignment in the past, especially where the USA has interests with their troops.
Enough.

President Donald Trump (click here) said that would compete with CNN for viewers across the globe, a suggestion that prompted comparisons to networks run by the governments of Russia and China.
In afternoon tweets, Trump took aim at one of his favorite targets, CNN, which he said "doesn't do great" in terms of US ratings but has "very little competition" outside the country, where it is a "powerful voice portraying the United States in an unfair and false way."
"Something has to be done, including the possibility of the United States starting our own Worldwide Network to show the World the way we really are, GREAT!" Trump said....
Wasn't FOX holdings sold off after the UK debacle where a missing girls phone was hacked into and the fallout that went along with that?

Sensitive personal details (click here) including salaries and redundancy entitlements of senior staff at Rupert Murdoch's News Corp Australia have been emailed across parts of the organisation as it battles staff disquiet over layoffs.
News Corp Australia staff expressed shock at receiving an email about 9am on Wednesday, detailing "the redundancy summary" for employees "over 200K".
The email reveals a redundancy entitlement of nearly $210,000 to The Australian's contributing economics editor Judith Sloan and details her $357,000 salary....
If the US government were ever to nationalize any competition with CNN it probably would be the new career move by Don, Jr. The government would be paying the salaries and expenses of such a venture. The USA government doesn't need rating wars. Most branches of the military already have their own media service, including newspapers.
The garage sale at FOX continues.

US regulators (click here) have cleared Walt Disney Co's plan to buy most of 21st Century Fox, removing a final barrier to the $71.3bn (£54.2bn) deal.
The approval requires the sale of Fox's regional sports networks in the US, due to competition concerns, the Justice Department's antitrust division said.
Disney, which had signalled willingness to sell the sports networks, said it was "pleased" with the decision.
The deal still needs approval in other countries to go forward.
Disney is planning to buy Fox's entertainment assets in the hope of beefing up the range of content it can offer, as it plans services to compete with streaming companies such as Netflix.
Fox, which is led by Rupert Murdoch and his family, plans to retain its news and sports divisions, creating a new company for those holdings, which include the flagship Fox News Channel.
Five reasons why the Murdochs are selling Fox to Disney
The Justice Department said without the sale of the 22 regional sports networks, the deal may have led to higher prices for cable sports watchers in local markets, where Fox and Disney currently compete....

GM's E100 is manufactured in China for the Chinese market. China needs an electric car and I applaud Barra for taking the initiative.

...The E100, (click here) which is Baojun's first electric car, is powered by a single 39-horsepower electric motor and has a top speed of 62 miles an hour. The E100 can drive about 96 miles on a fully charged battery, according to GM....
Trump huffs and puffs to blow the house of GM down, but, he isn't able to. The electric car subsidies are an empty threat. The Volt is one of the cars Barra is cutting production and there is only a 200,000 car subsidy as an incentive. GM has sold nearly that many already.

If Russia is launching a land based aggression, there will be refugees.

Much of Ukraine (click here) will introduce martial law after Russia fired on and seized three of its naval ships in the Black Sea, prompting warnings of a dangerous escalation in their four-year conflict and strong western condemnation of Moscow.
Ukraine’s parliament on Monday approved the decree issued by President Petro Poroshenko, who said his nation must react to a “new phase of aggression” and face the “extremely serious threat of a land-based operation” by Russian forces.
Mr Poroshenko said martial law would apply to 10 “high-risk” border regions, starting on Wednesday and lasting for just 30 days, so as not to effect presidential elections due in March and to ease concern that he might try to postpone the vote. He insisted that the special measures would “allow us, in the event of invasion, to react and mobilise all resources as quickly as possible” and would not bring “restrictions on the rights and freedoms of citizens or the introduction of censorship”....

Military build-up (click here)......in the western regions of Russia is both a consequence and a symptom pointing to the fact that ‘hawks’ have taken over in the Kremlin. This means, the Russian government is preparing for a long-lasting confrontation with the West. Evidently, it is going to complicate the environment for all countries in the region, especially those on the ‘confrontation line’: Ukraine-Belarus-Moldova.
The news about the relocation of the 28th Motorised Brigade of the Russian Ground Forces from Urals to the Bryansk region has raised concerns in Belarus. That said, apparently, the actions of the Russian military leadership are not connected with the Belarusian-Russian relations in any way. Moreover, their connection with the Russian-Ukrainian war is rather indirect.
It should be recalled, that during the reform held by former Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov, military units have been drastically reduced and division level units abolished (except for the one in the Far East). Priority districts included South (Caucasus region) and Centre (formerly Soviet Central Asia). The former Russian Defence Ministry leadership regarded Western Military District as the support area. Of the 50 armoured and mechanized infantry battalions of the Russian Ground Forces in 2008 by late 2010, only 22 battalions were scattered from Murmansk in the north to Belgorod the south and from Kaliningrad in the west to Komi in the east....
The propaganda is interesting. It is as if The West invaded the USSR rather than it falling apart leaving only Russia dedicated to communism.
...Russian generals, who negatively perceived NATO’s eastward expansion, have criticised a sharp reduction in the military forces in the west....
The Russians' military leadership are working on false directives. It is making decisions based on the idea The West are the expansionists and not Russia. The entire idea plays into the idea Russia has to rescue "Russian people" as those in Crimea because of the evil West.
Putin is engaged in political rhetoric that is driving the idea that Russia is a victim to The West. It is why NATO is an enemy to Russia and the obsession by Putin to defeat the evil West. Putin in placing Russia directly in the path of war because of his brinkmanship. The bridge to Crimea was built because Ukraine is vulnerable to any Putin directive to war to reclaim the Post Soviet country. However, Ukraine is now a member of NATO and Putin has to reassess his recklessness in providing Russia's treasury to a bridge that will not survive any war with The West.
NATO cannot continue to allow Putin his reckless politics. Russia is threatening European allies directly. Russia continues to PLAY war games that increase impingements on NATO countries sovereignty. The lousy Putin politics of brinkmanship is at work and it has to end sooner or later. The NATO alliance is vital and Russia needs to be pushed back into it's borders and the bridge to Crimea is a direct threat to NATO and needs to be either internationally regulated to prevent war or destroyed to end the war before it begins based in Putin's nationalism and political rhetoric.
Russia moving against Ukraine vessels including a tugboat is a huge miscalculation because the military leadership actually believes it has the moral high ground.
Russia needs leadership that honors treaties and not use them to calculate brinkmanship. Putin is no longer a viable diplomatic leader.

There is a drop in production of steel in China because of the drop in demand due to tariffs.
November 14, 2018
By Jennifer Compton
A major capital improvement project in Dover (click here) is more than $1 million over budget, and officials said tariffs on steel are at least partly to blame.
This is where it gets interesting though. One would expect the price of steel to increase because there was less production, but, that isn't happening. There is a surplus of steel in China, so the cost dropped. GM is trying to estimate it's cost with increases in steel tariffs. Once China sells it's surplus the prices will increase, hence, GM may be ahead of the curve in that it sees the increase coming.
I also believe CEO of GM, Mary Barra has built in some liquidity in her decision making when it comes to plant closings, however, she is absolutely correct in knowing the fall in CAR sales seems absolute. There is an increase in athletic interests in the USA.
So, with a rise in costs due to tariffs and expecting steel costs to escalate after the glut is gone from China, GM has to survive the radical changes within the economy. THERE IS NO ROOM FOR MARGINAL CHANGES AT GM. The company is huge.

...Global steel margins (click here) have been well supported since early 2017, when China began shutting illegal scrap induction furnaces. That left China short on construction steels, allowing blast furnace-based steelmakers to expand output. Much of the illegal output went unreported in official statistics.
China's crude steel output hit a record high in October at 82.55mn t, putting its year-to-date output up by 6.4pc at 782.46mn t and on track to surpass 900mn t for 2018, around half of the world's total supply. With China's growth slowing for its real estate and infrastructure investment, its steel supply is now in surplus and increasingly showing up in seaborne spot markets. Six months ago, its mills did not sell into export. Today they are slashing offers, sending the Argus Chinese export rebar price down by $19/t to $494/t fob China today....

...The cost-cutting plan (click here) includes closing the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant and Warren Transmission Operations in Warren.
GM isn't making money on cars. It's making money on trucks and SUVs. All the cuts are coming from the decision to get rid of six car models, including the Buick LaCrosse, the Cadillac CT6 and XTS, and the Chevrolet Cruze, Impala and Volt.
"They forget (that) the taxpayers, our membership, the communities, the politicians all came to them in their darkest day. There was no jobs with a bankrupt GM, but this is how we in America are repaid," said UAW GM Vice President Terry Dittes.
There are 1,500 employees at the General Motors Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plant and another 335 at the Warren Transmission plant. The other shutdowns are in Ohio, Baltimore and Ontario.
"There's people in there bawling their eyes out. I've never seen anything like it," Dittes said.
GM offered a buyout to 18,000 salaried workers this month, but only about 2,200 took it. The company said layoffs were likely if it didn't get enough takers. Union workers affected have the opportunity to relocate if jobs are available elsewhere.

“No matter how hard I worked, how much schooling I got, every door was shut,” he said recently. “So I figured, well, there’s one door that’s always open, and that’s [the sheriff’s] office. That’s the one job they forgot to safeguard against.”
Even as he gained momentum, he was out-fundraised by McDonnell 8 to 1.
But the dark horse candidate used the county’s political mood to his advantage, experts said, trumpeting his status as a Democrat and claiming he would be the first Democratic sheriff in the county in 138 years. A New York judge (click here) has ruled that a lawsuit brought by the state's attorney general against President Trump and the Trump Foundation can proceed, a decision that could expose the president and his charity to millions in potential penalties.
The lawsuit was filed in June by Attorney General Barbara Underwood and involves allegations that Trump improperly used the foundation to settle business disputes and to support his 2016 campaign for the presidency. The suit also names three of the president's children, Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump and Eric Trump.
In her decision on Friday, Justice Saliann Scarpulla dismissed efforts by the president's lawyers to have the case dismissed, ruling that a sitting president can face a civil lawsuit in state court for actions that preceded his time in office. Scarpulla is the second judge this year to rule that as president, Trump is not immune to civil court cases.
"I find I have jurisdiction over Mr. Trump," Scarpulla wrote in her 27-page ruling, in which she cited the Supreme Court's 1997 ruling on Paula Jones' sexual harassment lawsuit against Bill Clinton....
