July 23, 2005. Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Photographer states: I captured this as sirens started and winds went from 15mph out of S-SE to an instant 80+MPH out of the NW. A literal Whiteout followed for 10 mins. Downed trees, power and pingpong size hail. Chippewa Falls WI NOON
I GOT THE FEELING from these pictures that this photographer was scared but capturing this picture was so important even if it was the last thing they did. People want other to know what is happening to them for a reason. It isn't because they think extraordinary weather is fun. Noted. There is a 'pale blue line' of sky between the who cloud bans. The system probably had considerable rotation. The wall cloud has similar characteristics to a hurricane's edge. Exactly the same actually. This was a terrestrial hurricane. Not just a storm. The air was probably cool coming off the Arctic Circle.
