The basic fraud of “bate and switch” used by the insurance industry (among the most so called reliable companies) is first being tried in elderly care through Medicare. I do not believe any of these substitution programs are legally allowed for payment through Medicare.
Medical/Surgical Advocates are unlicensed, untrained administrative assistants that are used as navigators to the ALLOWED medical services covered by insurers. Their purpose is not to follow doctor’s orders or treatment plans, but, to dictate what is available through the insurance company and demand the patient to demand the doctor to order what is allowed.
An LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) has one year of education and clinical experience without advanced assessment skills. They are not legally allowed to begin IV catheters or access long term access ports into the body. They carry out orders from physicians and nurse practitioners.
An RN (Registered Nurse) has anywhere from 2 years (Associate Degree) up to 4 years (Bachelor of Science) of education and clinical experience. Registered Nurses can be unspoken case managers without the title. (The actual Case Managers can also be master’s degree educated with or without special certification but primarily watch where to get dollars through the patients hospital process. These MS in Nursing also do staff training of RNs additional certification within the hospital, but, primarily through professional organizations and state nursing licensing offices.)
NP (Nurse Practitioner) is a nurse with an advanced Ph.D. degree. The can write prescriptions. While many if not most Americans regard them the same as M.D.s, they are not. As a matter of fact, ALL NPs work under the license of an MD.
The Bate and Switch of the insurance companies occurs after joining the insurance program. The CEOs try to make it insidiously undetectable, but, it screams of financial intimidation of Medicare patients.
ANY person to advocate or substitute for an MD is acting out of ignorance for what is best for the patient. The ONLY capacity that can accurately diagnose and order treatment and medications and/or surgery are M.D.s either female or male.
I have proof of the methodology used by Blue Care Network and it is overwhelming built to exploit the elderly for profit.
