Trump thinks nothing of toying with the USA national security. If a private firm is working closely with the USA Defense Department and proves to be an asset, the company becomes a part of that national security.
When a company becomes part of the USA national security it automatically has a secure work environment for the company structure. That does NOT define ANY idea of invention rightfully belongs to the USA. Trump attempted a hostile takeover of this company’s product. That is illegal and Anthropic deserves at the very least an apology.
Private entities of any kind that become an asset to the national security of the USA are valued as an enhancement. That means a private company achieved a real goal the government could not achieve alone. Why would the government mess with that?
Donald John Trump chronically takes others achievements as his own. He does it all the time. Physical objects like award trophies including the Nobel for peace is taken by him as if he achieved the award on his own. Sports trophies are not safe in the presence of Trump. He takes all sorts of stuff and considers it a gift. Why not take the very value of a company like Anthropic and use it as a bargaining chip with our worst enemies?
Anthropic was under threat by Trump. They are right to fight back. It is amazing they still want to be part of the government. We should be grateful for the fight.
