President Donald Trump (click here) -- back in the final days of his presidency -- didn't exactly make a secret of his effort to overturn the election he'd just lost and so it's very easy to get tired of thinking about it, now that he's out of office and his official powers have been clipped.
But in addition to the lies he was spreading all along, we continue to learn new and distrubing details about his obstinate and pernicious efforts to poison the system from within, which included an "Apprentice"-style showdown between two top Justice Department officials at the White House and threats of resignation.
Woven together, they show that Trump's assault on democracy, which looks more and more like an attempted coup, was even more reckless and insistent than previously thought.
The recent news includes these items:
Trump pressured acting DOJ officials like acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen on December 27 to "Just say that the election was corrupt + leave the rest to me and the R (Republican). Congressmen," according to the notes of acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue's notes, shared with House investigators.
A day later, on December 28, at least one acting DOJ official, Jeffrey Clark, who was in charge of the civil division, apparently bought into Trump's lies, or wanted to assuage him, and drafted a letter suggesting there were election irregularities in the election (there weren't), but it was rebuffed by other top acting officials.
Officials like Rosen's chief of staff Patrick Hovakimian drafted letters of resignation in case his boss was pushed out in favor of Clark....
I remember Betsy DeVos saying upon her nomination as Education Secretary, sometimes you just have to get rid of everything and start over. There was incident after incident and all the Republicans would do is cover it up and explain it away. Trump closed down scientific labs and disposed of records, a hundred years or more of records. Who does that?
SARS-CoV-2 Lies
When: Friday, February 7, and Wednesday, February 19
The claim: The coronavirus would weaken “when we get into April, in the warmer weather—that has a very negative effect on that, and that type of a virus.”
The truth: When Trump made this claim, it was too early to tell whether the virus’s spread would be dampened by warmer conditions, though public health experts and epidemiologists were immediately skeptical of Trump’s comment. But the spring and summer have passed, and the pandemic is still raging....
All there were only were lies and more lies and death and more death. The European version of SARS-CoV-2 had already arrived and was quickly spreading in New York. An entire community had to be shut down to stop it. Entire families were threatened and siblings were being buried together. This was the USA? Not in my book.
Miami was a disaster. And, why? Because Trump never closed the airports from Brazil for over a month of the people suffering in Florida.
The northwest was being plowed under by SARS-CoV-2 before the people from China flying into the USA were stopped.
All Trump did during his entire presidency was lie and play fear-mongering politics to turn American against American. That occurred for four long years that were nothing but an attempt to end the democracy known as the United States of America. Trump was a treasonist and he used all kinds of antics to further his politics of deceit and undermining a well-established and absolutely incredible government.
President's Day, Memorial Day, and Veteran's Day were all opportunities to pretend to admire the people that died to defend and uphold the USA Constitution. Secretly, he would insult a former USA General on the reason his son died in service to his country.
Donald John Trump is a horrible human being. He has issues no one can solve. That is often the case of criminals.
January 6th was an act of treason to end the USA Constitution. Even the most radical of activists in this country has never tried to commit treason or overthrow the government. Even the people that burned the flag in protest were not interested in overthrowing the USA. The people that died at Kent State were protestors. They weren't the enemy and they did not see this country as the enemy. They wanted a war to end because the people in power abused their power. That is not a demand to overthrow this government, it is a demand to MAKE IT WORK WITHOUT CORRUPTION!
I WANT IT TO WORK WITHOUT CORRUPTION and if I had a nickle for every time I have written that here I would be a trillionaire.
The point is that while people wind their way through the myriad of documents and testimony and the US Justice Department states in order for justice to be done there needs to be tax returns released and people to testify.
How many people look for the victories for humanity expressed and ordered by a president? I do. Many other people do. Time and time again, there was nothing but assaults on humanitarian actions by the USA, including the suffering at the USA southern border BEFORE there was a deadly pandemic.
Donald John Trump wanted to destroy this country and allow some sort of sick kingship to take over. That was the dream of an American about his country. He wanted to destroy the USA and rule it as his own kingdom. That is a sad statement about the mental health of the man in the White House and his minions.
Sure, the PROOF is finally making it's way to the public so the country knows exactly who they were dealing with, but, the signs and EVIDENCE were there the entire time.
