A small but mighty player (click here) in international trade, Netherlands shipped US$652.2 billion worth of goods around the globe in 2017. That dollar amount reflects a 14.2% increase since 2013 and a 46.6% uptick from 2016 to 2017 for the powerful European Union member....
...The unemployment rate for the Netherlands was 4.1% as of February 2018 down from 5.3% one year earlier, according to Trading Economics....
...The following export product groups represent the highest dollar value in Dutch global shipments during 2017. Also shown is the percentage share each export category represents in terms of overall exports from the Netherlands.
- Machinery including computers: US$93.5 billion (14.3% of total exports)
- Electrical machinery, equipment: $87.4 billion (13.4%)
- Mineral fuels including oil: $80.3 billion (12.3%)
- Pharmaceuticals: $33.5 billion (5.1%)
- Optical, technical, medical apparatus: $30.1 billion (4.6%)
- Vehicles: $27.3 billion (4.2%)
- Plastics, plastic articles: $25.4 billion (3.9%)
- Organic chemicals: $21.4 billion (3.3%)
- Iron, steel: $14.8 billion (2.3%)
- Live trees, plants, cut flowers: $10.3 billion (1.6%)
