The hurricanes are gone. They were absorbed into the dark cloud vortex when it took over the Pacific and Atlantic. The Atlantic has come a long way to have clouds there again, but, the air movement hasn't stopped. The ITCZ is populated.
It is not the first time I've seen stalled air masses at 20 north latitude in both oceans near North America. The system with the stalled air is far larger than ever before.
It appears to be mass movement of water vapor back over the continent.
