Campaign lawyers for President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney (click here) have reportedly expressed concerns that Candy Crowley, CNN's award-winning chief political correspondent, will ask questions in her role as moderator of Tuesday's town hall-style presidential debate.
The report on Time Magazine's website indicated the lawyers expressed concern to the Commission on Presidential Debates after an interview in which Crowley described her role as the debate's moderator....
President Obama can't set the record straight if Ms. Crowley redirects the intent of the person asking the question? Mitt Romney certainly will do as he pleases. The person asking the question isn't given a muzzle after asking their question are they?
The complaint is about power, not about communication. It is hideous.
I am quite sure President Obama would clear the question with the person asking it, not Ms. Crowley. Who knows what Romney will do, probably call in the polygraphers to determine if the questioner is lying about the original wording of the question.
I can hear Romney now, "Corporations are people my friend, I wish one was here tonight."
