A pleasant surprise occured this week for subscribers to "Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Medicare HMO Subscribers;" their out of pocket costs were cut dramatically beginning January 2012.
The monthly subscriber fee was reduced by 80% and the co-pay for doctor visits was reduced by 60%.
The average monthly subscription rate was $80.90. As of January 1, 2012 the monthly subscription rate will now be $16.40.
The co-pay for physician visits was $15.00. As of January 1, 2012 the monthly co-pay will now be $5.00.
Depending on the plan (click title to entry - thank you) the monthly fee costs nothing. There are now options to be enrolled in a Medicare Supplemental Plan without cost which makes seeking health care affordable. It will allow all those on Medicare to have their annual physical examinations with preventive care regardless of income.
The Medicare recipient will now have more disposable income to help with other costs now. For those on fixed incomes it will help increase quality of life.
For all those breathing a sigh of relief for the holidays, "Thank you, America."
