Russia likes to say this is none of The West's business. It is between the family of former Soviet states. I don't think so.

The issue facing the USA and Germany in the case of Ukraine is the blatant breaking of the treaty that secured Ukraine from having nuclear weapons. It is understandable how Russia would want Ukraine disarmed from it's former nuclear arsenal, but, to Europe it was a big sigh of relief to end Russian nuclear weapons parked on Europe's border.

When Russia acted aggressively against Ukraine after Yanukovych was ousted from power, was a violation of the treaty with the USA, Germany and Ukraine; but; also placed Europe in grave danger if Russia were to rebuild the arsenal in Ukraine.

To some, annexing Crimea and the invasion into eastern Ukraine bordering Russia was a given. But, when realizing what Russia gave up in national security by violating that particular treaty, was pure foolishness. Instead of Ukraine maintaining neutrality, as a country under treaty obligation to never rearm any nuclear capacity; President Putin thought he would simply take over Ukraine as a former state and according to him 'under siege' from militants. Putin bargained and now there is a problem and Ukraine has reconstituted it's national military with missile capacity. Additionally, there were sanctions placed again on Russia and it's oligarchs. I, personally believe, it was a huge blunder by Vladimir Putin in all fronts; national security as well as economic isolation of a BRIC country.

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s (click here) invasion of Ukraine posed the most serious challenge to European security in decades. In one stroke, he thumbed his nose at the Helsinki Accords of 1975, the Paris Charter of 1990, the Budapest Memorandum of 1994, and other agreements and commitments that had kept the peace in Europe—with the exception of the Balkans—since the end of World War II. Suddenly, the post–Cold War order was torn to shreds, and many worried that if Putin’s brazen act was left unchallenged, other authoritarian regimes would think they, too, could get away with aggression against their neighbors.

On balance, the Western reaction to Putin’s invasion of Ukraine was much stronger than Putin anticipated, even if it was less than what many advocated. At the time Putin made his move, few would have thought that a year later the West would have in place a harsh sanctions regime against Russian officials and entities. Russia was too big and important, both strategically and commercially—or so Putin and others assumed. But Putin left the West little choice. His thuggish treatment of his own population belied his claims that he cared about the plight of ethnic Russians and Russian speakers in Ukraine. His cold-blooded reaction to the tragic shoot-down of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 turned around the mood in Germany, among other places, overnight.

The combination of Putin’s misplaying his hand numerous times during 2014 and the resolve of the West to take a stand against his aggression has left the Russian leader facing the gravest crisis of his presidency. There is some talk that Putin might not even serve out his current term, which runs until 2018....

The price being paid by all in the face of Russia's decision to follow the Old Communists rather than striking a new tone has been extremely tragic. The error by Russia to invade Ukraine and annex Crimea is a snowball rolling downhill and it never seems to end.

Tomorrow belongs to the next generation and refusing to allow that to occur globally has been stifling for Russia and the USA, especially when it comes to the climate crisis. President Putin has to step back from the brink of continued disaster and redefine the future of Russia to recapture it's movement toward peace. If Russia had not invaded Ukraine it could have a world stage to ridicule the USA for all it's offences as well.

On November 14, (click here) the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued its preliminary findings that “there exists a sensible or reasonable justification for a belief that a crime [my italics] falling within the jurisdiction of the Court ‘has been or is being committed’” within the Crimean and Donbas territories of Ukraine. On release of the ICC report, Russia announced that it would withdraw from the organization because it "failed to meet the expectations to become a truly independent, authoritative international tribunal." The ICC report intensifies Russia’s isolation following the Joint Investigative Team’s (JIT) blaming Russia for shooting down MH17.

Russia thus finds itself in the questionable company of Burundi, Gabon, Iraq, Afghanistan, Columbia, and Niger as suspects in creating international armed conflicts. The ICC report demolishes Putin’s narrative of the Ukrainian conflict, which paints Russia as an innocent bystander. Following the ICC report and Russia’s angry withdrawal from the international tribunal, there should be no further reference to “civil war,” “separatists,” or “insurgents.” Instead the conflict that has claimed 9,578 lives is an “international armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine.” Another consequence is that Russia, as a party to the conflict, should no longer have a “peacemaker” seat in negotiations in Minsk.

The ICC report is particularly embarrassing for the Kremlin as it tries to peddle its parallel-reality version of the Ukraine conflict to the incoming Donald Trump administration....

There is a global community with rights seeking justice. It is not just East vs West in a regression to the cold war. The invasion by Russia was completely wrong and the negligence of the USA to be a moral leader on climate is egregious. Neither country are the international heroes many had hoped they would become. It is a mess, all because of the politics of each country. Not because of a moral right or wrong, but, because each politics dictates moronity.

The Magnitsky Act was enacted into law on December 14, 2012.

H.R.  6156 (112th): (click here) Russia and Moldova Jackson-Vanik Repeal and Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act of 2012
Who was Sergei Magnitsky? (click here)
Mr Magnitsky was an auditor at a Moscow law firm when he discovered what he said was a massive fraud by Russian tax officials and police officers.
He uncovered the alleged theft of $230m (£150m). After reporting it to the authorities, he was himself detained in 2008 on suspicion of aiding tax evasion, and died in custody on 16 November 2009 at the age of 37.
He acted as a legal adviser for London-based Hermitage Capital Management (HCM), where colleagues insist the case against him was fabricated to make him halt his investigations.
Despite his death Russian prosecutors decided to put him on trial - a case dismissed as a "circus" by his family and by HCM founder Bill Browder, who was himself tried in absentia. Mr Browder is now a British citizen, based in London.

Washington — The Senate was nearly unanimous on Thursday (click here) passing a bill that would slap Russia with new sanctions and give Congress the power to review any White House attempts to roll them back.

The Senate approved the bill 98-2, with Republican Rand Paul of Kentucky and Independent Bernie Sanders of Vermont voting against the measure. The bill, which includes both Russian and Iranian sanctions, now heads to the House, which still needs to pass it before it goes to President Donald Trump's desk.

The measure is widely seen as a rebuke to Trump, as it hits Russia with new sanctions to punish Moscow for its interference in US elections, as well as over Moscow's aggression in Ukraine and Syria.

The bill establishes a review process for Congress to have a say whether the White House eases Russia sanctions. It also establishes new sanctions against those conducting cyberattacks on behalf of the Russian government as well as supplying arms to Syrian President Bashar Assad, and it allows for sanctions to hit Russia's mining, metals, shipping and railways sectors....

Sanctions on Russia were to be "ripped up" (click here) early in the Trump administration, then-national security adviser Mike Flynn said on Inauguration Day, according to new information released Wednesday.

The new details suggest that President Trump and his aides not only were amenable to new negotiations with Russia about its bilateral relationship with the U.S — despite its attack on the 2016 presidential election — but had concluded by the time they took office that they would definitely void existing sanctions.

That information comes from a letter released by the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md....

Donald Trump Jr. asked a Russian lawyer (click here) at the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting whether she had evidence of illegal donations to the Clinton Foundation, the lawyer told the Senate Judiciary Committee in answers to written questions obtained exclusively by NBC News.

The lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, told the committee that she didn't have any such evidence, and that she believes Trump misunderstood the nature of the meeting after receiving emails from a music promoter promising incriminating information on Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump's Democratic opponent.

Once it became apparent that she did not have meaningful information about Clinton, Trump seemed to lose interest, Veselnitskaya said, and the meeting petered out....

"...So, let's give you that opportunity. Os, in June, you met with Donald Trump, Jr., with Jahred Kushner and with Paul Manafort. What was the purpose of that meeting?..."

Indeed.

I believe "Time" made a magnificent choice in "Person of the Year." It doesn't end here, the momentum has to sustain to end this plague. Thank you to "Time."

The "Silence Breakers" (click here) - those who have shared their stories about sexual assault and harassment - have been named Time magazine's Person of the Year.
Numerous women have spoken out publicly since October about sexual misconduct by dozens of high-profile men in entertainment, media, business and sports. Time praised those who have given "voice to open secrets, for moving whisper networks onto social networks, for pushing us all to stop accepting the unacceptable." The magazine's cover features Ashley Judd, Taylor Swift, Susan Fowler and others who say they have been harassed.
Time's announcement was made Wednesday on NBC's "Today" show, where longtime host Matt Lauer was fired last week amid harassment allegations. "Today" host Savannah Guthrie acknowledged Wednesday that this year's winner hits "close to home" and mentioned Lauer by name....

Donald Trump is an extremist right wing, populist that will never care about anything except his politics.

He has no capacity for anything else. I am also quite confident this is not the last time I will write this. Donald Trump is a cad, a reactionary and a moron. He loves to titillate the news media anywhere because he wants the reaction of common people. He loves to enrage others. So, why protest? The man has no power to assign Jerusalem as Israel's capital. I don't want people to die in the fact they are upset. This, in particular, is being said now because these are holy days for many people.

Jerusalem is the capital city of the Abrahamic religions. It has always been their capital city and it will always be their capital city.

Israel always says it will be the best guardian of the city to protect it and keep it open to all faiths. That is a point of view of some Israelis. That is not the point of view of all Israelis. Many of the Hebrew faith realize the significance of Jerusalem and realize it is a city of controversy. They also realize the day there are no tensions regarding Jerusalem, will be the day the people across the globe have found peace.

The issue with Jerusalem is security and to that end all faiths need to contribute to a peaceful Jerusalem.

People like Donald Trump don't even stop to realize there are Palestinians that practice the Christian faith. Jerusalem is not about one faith, it is about all the Abrahamic faiths.

December 5, 2017

Protesters across Palestine (click here) have been burning U.S. flags and images of President Donald Trump ahead of his speech later today where he is expected to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
Hundreds gathered in Gaza City and Ramallah on the West Bank brandishing Palestine flags and placards protesting the anticipated announcement.
Last night, Palestinian Christians gathered in Bethlehem and burned placards featuring Trump's likeness and 'Jerusalem, Palestine's heart, is not up to negotiations,' written on them.
A senior administration official said President Trump will make the announcement at 1pm (6pm GMT) from the White House....

One might ask why Palestine is of such intense interest by most, if not all, the majority Muslim countries. After all it is another city of antiquities that can be found throughout the Middle East. There are holy cities in many places, including Iraq. There are pilgrimages, of the devout, throughout the Middle East. So, what is the big deal with Jerusalem?

Jerusalem has significance to many religions. The Palestinians are without a homeland and that is important, but, they also serve as a toe hold to the right of all faiths to come to Jerusalem in a pilgrimage during their lifetimes. Every majority Muslim country keeps focus on the Palestinians for their homeland plight, but, also because they are significant in their claim upon the land securing the future for all Muslims to come to Jerusalem.

I apologize to all the faiths interested in Jerusalem, including Israel, for the rude and uncivilized behavior of the USA President Donald Trump, especially during this holy time of year. He thinks it's cool to be an outrageous entity. He has a son-in-law with designs upon Israel. The Trump family are very media savvy people with lots of money and they think nothing of controversy. As a matter of fact they thrive on it; their businesses thrive on it. So, in a broader sense of the claims by President Trump lies the understanding, "It is good for business." He is the definition of plutocracy and not any religious faith I am aware of.

Peace.

Donald Trump cannot declare Jerusalem the capital of Israel. He is acting like the US House and naming post offices. I am surprised he didn't name Jerusalem after his first born; Donald Trump, Jr. City on the Hill.

I am curious as to whether or not Roy Moore will be able to display his stone tablets of the Ten Commandments, now that Trump has put a BRAND in Jerusalem.

Saakashvili reveals age-long friendship with Trump (click here). The last head count was 1000 dead when he invaded South Ossetia.

Saakhashvili led the 2003 colour revolution in his homeland, which deposed the then-president Eduard Shevardnadze. But, following his victory in the 2004 Georgian election, he soon aped many of the negative traits of his predecessor, brutally clamping down on protestors and misusing state funds. Four years later, Saakashvili led his country into a disastrous invasion of South Ossetia, which drew Tbilisi into a brief conflict with Moscow.

That was the beginning of the end for "Mischa" in Tblisi, and today he’s wanted on criminal charges in Georgia, accused of “exceeding state powers” during a 2007 crackdown on the opposition and embezzling budget revenues.

Make it a stocking stuffer:

Competitive Authoritarianism: (click here) Hybrid Regimes after the Cold War (Problems of International Politics)

Competitive authoritarian regimes - in which autocrats submit to meaningful multiparty elections but engage in serious democratic abuse - proliferated in the post-Cold War era. Based on a detailed study of 35 cases in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and post-communist Eurasia, this book explores the fate of competitive authoritarian regimes between 1990 and 2008. It finds that where social, economic, and technocratic ties to the West were extensive, as in Eastern Europe and the Americas, the external cost of abuse led incumbents to cede power rather than crack down, which led to democratization. Where ties to the West were limited, external democratizing pressure was weaker and countries rarely democratized. In these cases, regime outcomes hinged on the character of state and ruling party organizations. Where incumbents possessed developed and cohesive coercive party structures, they could thwart opposition challenges, and competitive authoritarian regimes survived; where incumbents lacked such organizational tools, regimes were unstable but rarely democratized.

These so called leaders of democracy, never intend to instill democracy so much as pretend it still exists.

No one is going to like this analogy, but, it needs to be made. Within the USA are coercive powers. Those coercive powers, as they exist today, are the petroleum industry and financial institutions TOO BIG TO FAIL.

In the case of the petroleum industry and all these huge so called family organizations such as the Koch Brothers; they seek profit over every FACT facing the entire world when it comes to the Climate Crisis. The Republicans find these power structures helpful in achieving election and staying in Congress as a career. In return these power structures such as Koch and the Texas Baptist Regimists are a quasi-authority in the corruption of the USA government and instilling their profit motive in place of governance that is benevolent to the people.

In the case of the financial institutes that couped the American people in 2007-2008, there motive is obvious, they want to own the world and control it. Just consider the egos involved. Trust them? Really?

The idea any private institution is TOO BIG TO FAIL, only proves there is a quasi-government within the borders of the USA that pull the strings of elected officials in DC. The way fines of financial institutions replace prison time for CEOs leading the way to destroy Middle Class and housing infrastructure to benefit their own greed, including stockholders, is nothing but pure corruption. The excuse is because THEY ARE TOO BIG TO FAIL. "W"rong! They are not too big to fail and JP Morgan is the prime example of a financial institution that would have been alive and breathing after all the others went bankrupt. Morgan would have been the Last Man Standing, which is the icon for capitalism.

When one puts real ideas of power into places where coercion exists, it gets interesting to think about. Who actually governs and today the USA is facing a tax structure that will no doubt cast many people into poverty and illness. I mean ending the Children's Health Insurance Program.

Example:

...This week, (click here) Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) helped push a tax bill through the Senate that will cost about $1 trillion. At the same time, he lamented the difficulties of finding the money to fund the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), which pays for healthcare for nine million children and costs about $14 billion a year — a program Hatch helped create....

Hatch is ludicrous beyond imagination. There is no morality within the new tax code, only greed. The Republican icon of removing social programs that care for the American people is enforced by ideology that feeds 1 percent of the USA population.

Give me a break, that is an external force controlling the USA government. There is no decision making based on governance. NONE. Add to that the only reason Hillary Clinton is not President is because of Russian interference and harassment of an FBI director by Republican Congressmen when Anthony Weiner's laptop showed HIS WIFE'S correspondence with Hillary Clinton. Does anyone really think Hillary Clinton was interested in Anthony Weiner's sex life?

Weiner was a former Congressman ridiculed for his sexual exploits, not divulging military movements in the Middle East. And that became a political issue? It is ridiculous to realize Comey decided to be 'the man' that would bring 'the truth' to the people. Please, don't get me started.

The country was fine and Hillary Clinton was not a threat to national security.

The Saakhashvili thing is on this blog the day it occurred. Russia had deployed PEACE KEEPERS along the borders between Poland, South Ossetia and Abkhazia. The people of those two countries were peaceful and DISARMED people. They served no particular threat to Poland. And, yes, The West didn't like the Russian Peacekeepers because, as usual, they feared a Russian invasion into Poland.

The day the attack occurred the people of South Ossetia and Abkhazia were living their lives and Polish tanks rolled by orders of it's then president Saakhashvili. The tanks shelled the border towns and at last count there were at least 1000 people dead. There was no reason for the attack and Russia then rolled it's tanks into Poland pushing the attack back to the capital. It was afterward Russia declared the two counties as Russian territories to protect the lives of the people. There were no Polish people injured or dead. I am not sure of the Polish military.

Russia wasn't wrong. They were stationed on the border within a UN resolution to protect the people and they did their job. I don't know what Saakhashvili was trying to do, perhaps, bring a final conflict between NATO and Russia. I guess it gets a little nerve racking when one shares a border with Russia. But, the attack was wrong and Russia acted due to Polish provocation. Poland was left intact without any intention by Russia to bring a war with Poland. That is the truth as it happened and I'm sticking to it.

It seems as through Saakashvili is still another NEW president that wanted an economy and Trump decided to lend his "Trump University" insight and name to any possible profit potential. That is typical Donald Trump. It is money, money, money no matter where the desire takes him or the extreme it took. I am sure Paul Manafort was very helpful.

The vote regarding "Net Neutrality" is coming up on December 15, 2017. Before the new year.

"Net Neutrality" is about freedom of speech and freedom of expression. It could also be said it is about Freedom to Assemble. Unfortunately, these constitutional guarantees can be temporarily interrupted by "The Greedy."

The American people need to stand up to greed and secure the freedoms guaranteed to us. One cannot forget the Trump administration is very dangerous in using propaganda while increasingly lying to the public and subverting our freedoms. The Trump White House wants to change the dialogue the American people are having with each other and their governments.

The FCC is wrong and will have to be proven wrong to end this and bring about a permanent solution to keep the internet open and free for everyone. There is one thing Trump wants more than anything else when it comes to politics and that is control. This measure is proof of it.

Reddit and net neutrality (click here)

FCC Chair AJIT - Pai’s plan to repeal net neutrality provisions (click here) and reclassify broadband providers from “common carriers” to “information services” is an unprecedented giveaway to big broadband providers and a danger to the internet. The move would mean the FCC would have almost no oversight authority over broadband providers like Comcast, Verizon, and AT&T.

For years, those broadband providers have used lawsuits and agency filings to fight FCC oversight and overturn its authority to prevent net neutrality abuses. But never in those companies’ most feverish dreams did they expect an FCC chair would propose to demolish all net neutrality protections and allow ISPs to extract tolls from every business in the country.
Even industry analysts who expected the reclassification of broadband providers from Title II common carriers to Title I information services were stunned. Following Pai’s announcement, independent cable analyst Craig Moffett sent out an email to investors entitled "Shock and Awe and Net Neutrality," writing, “We've known since the election that the FCC would reverse Title II. But we never expected this. Yesterday’s FCC Draft Order on Net Neutrality went much further than we ever could've imagined in not only reversing Title II, but in dismantling virtually all of the important tenets of net neutrality itself....

...The principle of net neutrality (click here) is simple: companies that connect you to the internet must treat all content equally. In policy terms, that means the government ensures internet service providers do not block, slow, or otherwise discriminate against certain content or applications.

In the US, this policy was enshrined in the Open Internet Order in 2015, when the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) passed its strongest net neutrality policies to date.,,,

...will return internet regulations to essentially (click here) the same place they were before a set of 2015 changes reclassified broadband service as a "telecommunication" function rather than an "information exchange" process.

This is significant, as the Title II classification instituted in 2015 views internet service more like a public utility and comes with a heavier set of regulatory requirements, including restricting service providers from speeding up, slowing down or blocking access to any website, content or applications.

Roger Timmerman, CEO of the Utah Telecommunication Open Infrastructure Agency and Utopia's executive director, said the functionality of the internet since the 2015 modifications has been a positive for both consumers and innovation companies.

"Generally, we oppose the repeal of net neutrality rules and feel it's been a good thing for consumers and competition," Timmerman said. "Lack of net neutrality is a real problem, and we forecast that these rules being lifted will lead us to a 'walled garden' scenario, where providers will be able to decide what's inside the walls and what isn't."...

Any elected official should expect to be PRIMARIED if they have committed any sexual harassment or acts against anyone else.

...In Getting Primaried, (click here) Robert G. Boatright shows that primary challenges are not becoming more frequent; they wax and wane in accordance with partisan turnover in Congress. The recent rise of primarying corresponds to the rise of national fundraising bases and new types of partisan organizations supporting candidates around the country. National fundraising efforts and interest group–supported primary challenges have garnered media attention disproportionate to their success in winning elections. Such challenges can work only if groups focus on a small number of incumbents....

This is nonsense. There is no reason for such self-righteous behavior by any man or woman.

Sacramento lobbyist Pamela Lopez (click here) has claimed that, in 2016, Democratic Assemblyman Matt Dababneh followed her into a bathroom, masturbated in front of her and urged her to touch him. Dababneh has strongly denied the allegation.

"It was Matt Dababneh," Lopez told The Times in a November interview.

Lopez jolted the California political world seven weeks ago when she first shared her account of an encounter in Las Vegas, joining more than 140 women as they denounced in an open letter a "pervasive" culture of sexual harassment and misconduct in the state Capitol.

Lopez had not publicly accused Dababneh until Monday, when she formally filed a complaint with the Assembly and named him at a news conference. The Times had been preparing a report on her accusations against Dababneh, and sought the assemblyman’s comment late last week....

Put it into context.

Having a gambler in the White House is a problem. The question is how big of a problem will it become?

There are many aspect of "Sin City." Where there is gambling and lots of money it attracts prostitution, loan sharking and alcoholism and drugs. Will such increased gambling whereby human beings are wagered actually prove to be a benign and/or benevolent method of economics.

...On Monday morning, (click here) the United States Supreme Court heard an hour of oral arguments in a case that could open the door to allowing New Jersey -- and potentially many more states -- to offer legal sports betting. A decision is expected by the end of June at the latest. Some stakeholders aren't waiting....

...Then-casino owner Donald Trump was attracting big events to town, including Mike Tyson heavyweight fights and a Wrestlemania IV in 1988.

The rise of Atlantic City's prominence as an event destination coincided with a construction boom, highlighted by the building of Trump's $1.2 billion Taj Mahal casino. It was Atlantic City's largest casino when it opened in 1990, and dubbed the "eighth wonder of the world" by its owner. But it also marked the beginning of the end of Atlantic City's first prime.

One year after the Taj Mahal opened, the business filed for Chapter 11 reorganization, according to The New York Times.

With Trump's properties struggling, construction in Atlantic City dwindled in the '90s. Gambling, however, did not. In fact, gaming revenue increased marginally year over year for the entire decade and into the new century. In 2003, the Borgata, billed as the first Las Vegas-level casino in Atlantic City, opened and energized the industry. By 2006, Atlantic City was peaking again. The 12 casinos combined to win a state-record $5.2 billion.

It's been downhill ever since....

It is not completely uncharted territory.

...Not all countries (click here) are equally enamored by gambling, though. Some nations have heavily restricted – or even banned – gambling, while others see placing bets as a major part of their way of life. So just which countries have the highest rates of gambling?
While there are different ways of measuring this, it's hard to pick a nation that's more into gambling than Australia. According to many studies, the average Australian spends more money on gambling than in any other nation – over $1,200 per adult each year. That's not that surprising when you consider that over 80% of Australian adults are said to be gamblers, which is also the highest rate in the world.
What's all the more amazing is how far ahead Australia is when compared to most of the world. A 2010 study showed that Singapore (which has two very new and successful casinos) was close behind Australia. But no other nation spends half as much per adult on gambling, with nations like Ireland, Canada and Italy all spending under $600 per adult per year on betting.
That's not to say that those in other countries aren't serious about gambling as well. In the UK, studies show that nearly 75% of adults gamble from time to time, and 85% of American adults are said to have gambled at least once in their lifetime – with 80% of them having done so in the last year....
Once in their lifetimes is hardly gambling for an American.

Percentage Americans owning their homes:

The year 2000 saw 62.8 percent of Americans owned their own home (click here). In, 2016, the percentage of Americans owning a home is 60 percent. In 1990, home ownership for Americans was 63.4 percent. In 2008 saw an American home ownership rate of 61.6 percent of Americans.

The point is that since Donald Trump came into office I am seeing a lot more payday loan type of ads on the iPhone. These are not paycheck size. They are nice tidy sums of $10,000 a shot. Americans may have financial solvency, but, the majority of that is held in their homes, cars and education.

If President Trump and his allies in Congress and elsewhere find it acceptable to increase gambling opportunities (YES, gambling and not gaming) how many Americans will continue to own their homes?

BREXIT could reverse the Ireland Peace Agreement.

December 4, 2017
By Henry Farrell

This is how Ireland voted regarding BREXIT (click here).

A couple of hours ago, (click here) the Financial Times top headline announced that “Britain and Ireland agree Brexit to border deal.” Now there’s a rather different headline: “Brexit deal falls through over Irish border dispute.” The British pound, which had jumped earlier, has now fallen from its earlier highs. Here’s what has just happened to Britain’s Brexit negotiations — and what is likely to happen next.

Britain’s decision to leave the European Union has major consequences for both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland (the part of the island of Ireland still under British rule). Decades of violence were ended when Britain and Ireland negotiated a peace deal in which Britain agreed that Northern Ireland could join the republic if and when Northern Irish people wanted to; the Republic of Ireland agreed to abandon its constitutional claim to the North.

One of the key enabling conditions for this deal was that Britain and the Republic of Ireland were members of the European Union. This had already allowed them to get rid of customs posts at the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. It was also much easier to reach an agreement and maintain it when both countries were part of a broader political union....

Donald Trump needs to stop lying!

President Donald Trump has a very long history of lying.

He has no room to point fingers at anyone else!

I don't believe Michael Flynn has a ruined career for pleading to lying to the FBI. There is nothing stating his career was destroyed. He may not be with the Trump White House anymore, but, there is no reason to believe such a high ranking military man has a ruined career with an FBI investigation.

The FBI did ruin Hillary Clinton's career. She would have won the Presidency, except for Comey. It is a known fact that polls dropped precipitously after Comey disrespected both the female Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Candidate Hillary Clinton.

President Trump is hideous to make such outrageous statements. He learns nothing from an administration that simply does not want to carry out his demands. A recent article stated there are many in his administration that are planning to leave. He cannot work with people no matter how they try and to realize career individuals are vital to our government is more than worrisome for the purge of people leaving.

It is one thing to have an occasional person resign to pursue other interests; it is something quite different when government employees leave in droves. The USA has a problem and it is called "TRUMP."

Is the USA resegregating or did it ever desegregate in the first place?

Are the socio-economic divides of the past still at work to continue racism, bigotry and segregation?

We know minorities in the USA have experienced a significant wealth gap for generations, is it still alive?

"The consequences of creeping racial resegregation constitute nothing less than a national crisis." (click here)

On Sept. 23, 1957, thousands of segregationists blocked nine young black students from enrolling in Little Rock Central High School, an all-white institution in the Arkansas capital. Gov. Orval Faubus ignited a nationwide crisis when he defied the Supreme Court’s landmark 1954 decision on desegregation, Brown v. Board of Education, and deployed the Arkansas National Guard to bar the students. Two days later, President Dwight D. Eisenhower ordered U.S. Army units to escort the Little Rock Nine into the school.

This fall marked the 60th anniversary of this pivotal moment in the history of America’s racial struggle. With the political landscape seemingly as divided as it has ever been, this moment provides an opportunity to examine the depth and contours of segregation in the nation today. Though clear advances have been made since the civil rights movement, the enactment of increasingly conservative social policies over the last half century reveals how tenuous such progress turned out to be....

Where in the world did he think it was okay?

I hear Matt "what's his name?"...Oh, yeah, Matt Lauer, is apologizing.

TOO LATE!

Assaulting, trapping, harassing and abusing women is not forgivable. Men know what it is to be shy, timid, bashful and modest no different than women. These are not foreign feelings to men, so they understand completely the violation when they are caught committing unthinkable advances. Women like to talk, become familiar and be asked to engage in a relationship of any kind. It is called respect.

I don't buy the fact there are profound character flaws in these men because they are conceited.

I think it is more than okay for women to be unforgiving. It is not being cruel or any other adjective or adverb men might attach to women that are unforgiving to inappropriate male advances. I am sure the same holds true for the LGBTQ relationships as well.

There comes a time when social mores become understood as an adult. Taking permission to disregard them because a person has attained power over others is not okay.

Memories are long and scars can be permanent. I don't know what it feels like to be trapped in a room with a man insisting on a sexual encounter, but, I can imagine how terrifying that can be.

These websites need to be scrutinized for terrorist activity.

Boxed out of mainstream crowdfunding sites, (click here) hate groups have taken a new tack: They're building their own financing platforms.

Big-name internet companies moved quickly to boot neo-Nazis after violent clashes between white nationalists and protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia left three dead in August. Crowdfunding platforms, like Patreon and GoFundMe, shuttered fundraisers for far-right causes, while Apple Pay and PayPal cut off services to white nationalists and merchants selling items that promote racism, like clothes bearing Nazi symbols.

To fill the void, neo-Nazi entrepreneurs are building crowdfunding sites of their own. The websites list free speech and fighting censorship as motivation. But critics say their names -- Counter.Fund, Goyfundme and Hatreon -- underscore a darker purpose: financing hate speech.....

"Good Night, Moon"

I don't dive into every earthquake at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. I think most can be really frivolous and propaganda.

More urgent is the continued inhuman conditions in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. I don't want to appear to be unfeeling, but, the country needs to realize what complete devastation is under a Category Five Hurricane. There haven't been media reports out of Texas or Florida since September and October.

North Pole Water Vapor Satellite

There are far reaching problems facing the USA. This image is of the North Pole. It shows at least four large heat transfer systems. The others can't be discerned because of the censorship of Russia and China.

The ITCZ (Intertropical Convergence Zone) is completely disrupted with water vapor carrying heat from the tropical areas to the Arctic Circle.

...In Greenland, (click here) Ward gets a close-up view of Helheim Glacier, one of the country’s fastest-moving glaciers. Between August 2016 and August 2017, scientists say Helheim retreated two miles, the furthest retreat inland they have seen in a decade.
Jason Box, an American climate scientist and professor in glaciology at the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland, tells Ward the “melt is winning this game.”
“Greenland is at the epicenter of climate change,” says Box. “Everything is kind of stacking up that the ice is going faster than forecast. The melt is winning this game.”

Ward also gains rare access to Summit Station, a remote American outpost located at the summit of the Greenland Ice Sheet, to see how scientists and engineers are tracking these climate changes. As temperatures rise and the melt increases, Greenland has become the largest source of sea level rise globally....

The water vapor is extremely dense in 2017 since the heating has intensified over Greenland and Iceland. There is significant heat transfer happening in the northwest hemisphere and probably the entire northern hemisphere. Australia is receiving flooding in some of its cities and towns. Strong storms are frequenting the area.

The climate crisis is real and it is happening now all over the world. The USA simply doesn't care even after the tragedies in the Caribbean Sea. This is a perspective no one should forget and definitely should reflect on.

The Republican Congress just voted for a tax cut that will add $1.4 trillion to the national debt. Does anyone actually think that is going to support the needs of the country when swath of land after swath of land is devastated and made economic disaster areas for years to decades to come?

The effects of Climate Change, (click here) particularly sea-level rise, is an overwhelming problem for the Caribbean that needs urgent attention. Delay in putting in place sustainable plans for resilient building, that could secure international financial support, will cost the region dearly.
The problem has become multi-faceted and addressing it requires collaboration among structural and mechanical engineers, accountants, economists, environmentalists and designers of tourism plants.
The trick is going to be how to merge defences against sea-surges and flooding with the aesthetics necessary to maintain the Caribbean as a sun, sea and sand destination.
2017 has witnessed back-to-back Category 5 hurricanes that cut a swathe through the Caribbean from which the affected islands will not fully recover for many years to come.
As an example of this, in 1994 Antigua and Barbuda received the largest number of tourists in its previous history. Then, in 1995, Category 5 Hurricane Luis battered Antigua, leaving its tourism plant in tatters. The country did not achieve its 1994 figures until 2014, twenty years later....
