President Trump lashed out (click here) at calls for new AI guardrails and protections on Monday, arguing AI only needs a "STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT" and that AI critics should "BEWARE!"...

Poor Donald. He is absolutely unglued.

I worked in an agricultural research library in Princeton, New Jersey for an international company when Derwent Patent Research (click here) was state of the art on punch cards.

I was around when dot matrix printers and Apple 2e was state of the art. The science of computers have come a very long way. Now, the geniuses that have harnessed the knowledge of these marvels are warning the people about the EXPECTED danger of artificial intelligence.

I believe them.

Is it not better to be safe than sorry? Is it not prudent to take a time out to be sure rather than unleashing a computer capacity that can turn against the human beings that allowed it's creation?

In China today, computer technology is already state of the art. Chinese data centers run cooler and as a result have a greater capacity. There isn't anything the USA can do to outclass the Chinese until it becomes responsible for the adversity the USA data centers cause the American people. 

The Republicans started this a long time ago when any sort of computer technology was never to be regulated. They stated it is more important to grow the technology and let it have economic impact.

Well, I think when the very leaders of the industry have a conscience and are the ones benefitting from the freedom to explore frontiers, but, state it is time to assess where we are and where we are going, it is absolutely time to do that.

China (click here) is trying to solve its water-consuming, power-draining data center problems by moving them under the sea. Shanghai Hailanyun Technology (HiCloud), in collaboration with several government agencies, launched what it's calling the world's first wind-powered underwater data center in May 2026. It sits about 32 feet below the ocean's surface off the coast of Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area, surrounded by a wind farm of more than 50 turbines. It houses about 2,000 servers, which is a small- to average-sized data center. Larger hyperscale data centers can house at least 5,000 servers. At full capacity, HiCloud's facility will operate at 24 megawatts. If running continuously for a year, it would use the same electricity as 20,000 U.S. homes. Engineers hope the $228-million project will solve the three critical data center concerns: electricity, cooling, and land use....
