Trittst im Morgenrot daher,
Seh' ich dich im Strahlenmeer,
Dich, du Hocherhabener, Herrlicher!
Wenn der Alpenfirn sich rötet,
Betet, freie Schweizer, betet!
Eure fromme Seele ahnt
Gott im hehren Vaterland,

First step in dawn, therefore
I see you in the sea of rays,
You, thou great, glorious one!
When the Alpenfirn reddens,
Pray, free Swiss, pray!
Your devout soul suspects
