UNISYS Water Vapor North and West Satellite (click here for 12 hour loop - thank you)
California is getting some unexpected water vapor, that is good news considering the Rim Fire is still only 80% contained.
There are three deaths in Colorado.
Torrential flooding in northern Colorado has resulted in at least three deaths, mudslides, multiple road closures, and the destruction of one dam. The resulting high water levels are impeding search and rescue teams from reaching stranded residents and motorists in the Boulder area northwest of Denver....
The heat island from last week that occupied it's own tropospheric vortex with aerosoled sea spray has attracted it's own tropical storm.
Swelting temperatures throughout most of the nation is making work by road crews and outdoor workmen and women nearly impossible and certainly threatening.
Their employers need to hand out cooling collars to be worn about the neck, sunscreen, salt tablets and water WITH instructions as well as descriptions of heat cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke. The best instruction, "If you don't feel well, call 911." PLEASE.
And Tropical Depression 10 at the Yucatan Peninsula was assisted to circulation by the Florida air mass that gathered there a few days ago heading west across the state. This area has already been hard hit by a previous Tropical Depression Fernand killing 14 people.

Fernand made landfall near the Atlantic port city of Veracruz on Monday and weakened as it moved north-west.

Torrential rainfall in Colorado (click here) has caused three deaths, destroyed a dam, and prompted massive road closures. The Colorado National Guard has been activated.

Tropical Storm Gabrielle (click here) hit at Bermuda with wind, rain and rough surf
early Wednesday as its center passed near the wealthy British territory,
a day after reforming over the Atlantic.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said the storm's center was
about 40 miles (65 kilometers) west-southwest of Bermuda early Wednesday
and moving northward with maximum sustained winds of 60 mph (95 kph).
Government authorities had urged people in the storm-hardened Atlantic
territory to finish last-minute preparations, and some residents left
work early. Customers crowded into supermarkets to buy candles,
batteries and other emergency supplies.
"Gabrielle has proven somewhat unpredictable and so I caution everyone
to take this storm seriously and to prepare for the forecast
conditions," Public Safety Minister Michael Dunkley said....
See, it takes water vapor to catch heat and develop a circulation center that then gains velocity to become a huge storm or even a smaller tropical depression. Earth is so dry it takes aerosoled water vapor to get the dynamics going. Then when the storm has delivered water into the troposphere is larger dynamics than the aerosoled sea spray it spawns larger storms with higher velocity like the one off Africa headed this way. Sort of where Sandy landed last year but perhaps a little more north.
