Contributor Network – Wed, May 11, 2011...Caveat: The 2008 child abduction summary report quite candidly outlines that there exists a shadow figure of murders, rapes and sadly also suicides that began as child kidnappings but, for a wide variety of reasons, did not get reported as such. In addition, police departments throughout the state fail to uniformly report child abductions; instead, the cases may be put on the books as missing children.
I am not complaining that agencies exist to handle the statistics and seek intervention, but, when is this mess going to get straightened out? Never? Will the USA never understand "Crimes Against Children?" Will they never have a higher status than adult crimes?
Ya know, a couple of years ago the United Nations did a review on the condition of children around the globe. The USA and the UK did not come out as shining examples. There were children without a book in the house. At least the United Kingdom took it seriously.
