July 25, 2005. Asheboro, North Carolina, USA. The photographer states: South American red-footed and yellow-footed tortoise at the NC Zoo Aviary all trying to get into the same spot.
Tortoises are terrestrial reptiles. Turtles are water loving amphibious reptiles. Posted by Picasa

July 23, 2005. The Asian Short Toed Otter in Durham, United Kingdom. The UK has a very aggressive Marine Biology monitoriing program. These otters live in captivity but the marine life in and around the UK are some of the best known including the diseases that plague them. The United Kingdom is surrounded by water and they have never to my knowledge sought to destroy their maine life so much as endeared them seeking knowledge about them. There is a difference and a civility about a culture that sees itself as 'fitting into nature' rather than dominating it. I do not approve of the UK's policy regarding oil and the North Sea however. They need to discern their true love of the sea that is their heritage and their learned greed from companies who exploit their needs. Alternatives are a far better choice and in protecting it's marine life, Scotland has established wind farms at sea. I applaud them. Carbon extraction is morally wrong in the world we have challenged to support all that live on it.  Posted by Picasa

July 27, 2005. Bellano, Italy. Incredible picture. Photographer states: Italy has been "conquered" by the African high pressure. Usually this kind of high pressure means high temperatures and humid weather (because Mediterranean Sea humidifies the African air masses). The sultriness is almost unbearable with a dew point above 70 degrees. Posted by Picasa

July 27, 2005. Le Cap Ferret Bassin d' Arcachon, France. This is aquaculture at work. All those 'sticks' are holding an farming operation in place. This is how a sophisticated culture grows it's fish. It doesn't go out to sea harvesting the last of a species while saying 'Oops.' Posted by Picasa

July 27, 2005. The less glamour side of Le Cap Ferret Bassin de Archachon; France. Just for those that thought it was the PERFECT place to take a romantic cultural stroll.  Posted by Picasa

July 28, 2005. Rigva, Latvia. Photographer states: Aliens starshipbottom type cloud over Vansu bridge. Weather report for tomorrow - don't go for fishing because of unstable weather. HM? Could it be aliens? Sort of reminds me of Space Shuttle tiles. Seriously, though. Those are seriously peculiar clouds. The density alone is enough to wonder where all the stagnant water is? you know what I mean?  Posted by Picasa

July 27, 2005. Chicago, Illinois. The resident complained there were all these clouds but an extreme drought at the same time. Those clouds are a heat transfer system that takes heat from the equator to the Arctic Circle. They don't precipitate. They build and move on. Clouds are a huge absorber of heat manifested in clouds. Think about it. How do clouds form? FROM EVAPORATED WATER. The water is hot when it rises through the troposphere to meet colder air and condensates. THEN it only condensates when there are particulate matter in the air. The water molecules need something to cling to in order to build a water droplet. There is not only hot air surrounding this planet but also high levels of soot.  Posted by Picasa

July 27, 2005. Charlestown, New Hampshire. This is Main Street. The photographer's grandchild affectionately called the flooding "Lake Main." Posted by Picasa

July 27, 2005. East Hartford, Connecticut. Posted by Picasa

July 27, 2005. It isn't like Washington, DC doesn't get it's fair share of Global Warming issues either. They just don't care for the money they are able to extract from being in power while throwing the American socieity into scambles and disarray and abusing every international relationship that exists. The Bush Administraton IS the enemy. Posted by Picasa

July 27, 2005. St. George's Island, Alaska. The Red Bluffs. If you can see them through the fog. No Snow. No Ice. But, the water is still cold enough to produce fog. Posted by Picasa

July 27, 2005. Ashburn, Virginia. "A ton of rain." Posted by Picasa

July 27, 2005. Ashburn, Virginia with what is termed a 'big storm. Posted by Picasa

July 27, 2005. Moraine, Ohio. I see a few other people have uploaded photos of this unbelievable sunset that was seen from NY to KY and Ohio of course, filling the whole sky with a brilliant blaze of orange bordered by the most brilliant clear blue sky and then pink covering all the sky from east to west. I am glad it was memorialized by so many people. I had some panorama photos but they still don't do it justice. Posted by Picasa

July 27, 2005. Water Vapor of GOES East from UNISYS. The line of storm clouds is interesting along the Appalachians. Vortexes abound. St. George Island is still laden with fog.  Posted by Picasa
