The picture below is Hurricane Michael and it already is covering Florida.

Hurricane Michael has been very predictable since it first started to organize. It came through the waterway expanse between the Yucatan and Cuba JUST ENOUGH in it's travel northeast to fuel to a Cat 3 storm.

I thought the early calls for evacuation was a real change in the methodology of the USA. Someone heeded the idea these are not hurricanes the way hurricanes have been defined for decades. If Michael had only passed over Cuba it would have missed the hot water in the Gulf of Mexico and it would be a far more tamed storm. But, that isn't what occurred.

The brilliant minds at NASA knew Michael would touch the Gulf of Mexico and caught the moment it did.

A look (click here) from @NOAA's #GOES16 Day Cloud Convection RGB at #Michael, which has just been upgraded to hurricane status. For the latest on the forecast track & intensity, visit the @NHC_Atlantic website:

NASA is now tracking RAIN CONTENT of these storms since the change in the character of these hurricanes. Now we are getting it right. FOR NOW, the rain is the biggest danger to American lives. The hurricanes have always been a threat to lives in the Caribbean since there were hurricanes. We always lose lives in these impoverished countries of the Caribbean.
