Wisdom sometimes evades activists. Not that wisdom didn't bring them to activism, but, to make a path to their goal is sometimes more difficult an achievement.
Reverend Sharpton also stated of Dr. King, "The method to equality is as important as the goal itself." Over the years Dr. King shunned the more violent extremes of the civil rights movement because he knew to be 'the violence' would not make them any different than the violence the African American community experienced on a regular basis. Dr. King knew that peaceful marches of protest would not only bring attention to a topic, but, uproot the status quo. Non-violence is non-threatening while 'the status quo' police are more threatening than the marchers could ever be. I suppose it could be called an omen of the subconscious when the greater good is seen through opposition. "For God's grace so go I."
I want to congratulate the #Occupy Wall Street movement. You have achieve one month of earth shattering peaceful protests. Magnificent. It is obvious to so many people now that the movement is global and nationwide in the USA what the message is and how good it is to express it. Hard to believe such calm and intelligent people could achieve so much in such a short time.
I am in awe and sincere respect for the morality of the entire movement and the precepts adapted from the King philosophy. Maybe it was instinct, but, I believe it was by example. Congratulations.
One month is not a long history, but, we all that have witnessed this great and benevolent action by people seeking nothing more than a job and a future promised to them by their birthright and hard work; have an urgent need. A need that has to be addressed. I would urge all those in the movement and simply standing in admiration of it, to seek a resolve, a moral resolve to the goals so well known to us. Do not ignore out stretched hands from political leaders, such as President Obama, just because no one wants to be 'co-oped.' That is a strange content when one realizes the goals cannot be co-oped. The goals are inherent to our lives and condition. Those goals cannot be co-oped or compromised, they are promised to us and to that end there can be no derailing this movement.
For so long I have stated, the answer to the impoverished and under paid in this country was within us. The 'financial system' is so far afield of any real answers for Americans that the answers are within us. Small businesses and overarching protections employed by the citizen between citizens are the only guarantees there are left to us all. Realizing an entire generation is the greatest number of those facing strife is to realize they have to show us the way. I have watched and listened to know how wonderful all of you are and the purpose you can find among each other. There are answers. Those answers lie within you. Supporting skills and crafts of each other is supporting the future.
There are natural leaders among you and there are humanitarians among you. The diversity of the movement is astounding. Where there is diversity there is culture, where there is culture there is economy. Find the strengths that exist in the populous and seek to return life to those ignored and abandoned. Looking to huge corporations is completely fruitless. They never, ever had that capacity before, but, only through exploitation and corruption. The goals of this movement require sustainable platforms and not those pandered to by wealth or greed.
One month out and who would have imagined.
