It would be good if the USA could act as an ambassador to the talks Saudi Arabia needs to have with countries with losses of their people. Saudi Arabia is a good friend to the USA. It should hardly face this reality alone. It is a painful time and friends should be welcome. I don't recall any losses by the USA.
Perhaps this can be avoided in the future. For some reason these stampedes happen when pilgrimages take place. It would be best to find solutions to their occurrence.

TEHRAN, Sep. 24 (MNA) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution (click here) has declared three days of national mourning following the Hajj incident in Mina.
Following the stampede tragedy in Mina, near Mecca, on Thursday in which at least 1200 Hajj pilgrims were killed and more than 1500 were injured, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei issued a significant message calling on Saudis to shoulder responsibility of the catastrophe.
Here is the full text of the message:
In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
Indeed we belong to Allah, and to Him do we indeed return
The catastrophic tragedy which happened today in Mina which claimed lives of large number of God’s gusts and the God-seeking faithful from different countries, caused a great agony for the world of Islam and turned the Eid into sorrow. In our dear country also tens of families enthusiastically waiting their beloveds paying pilgrimage in Hajj, are now mournful for their losses....
