What is this with Israel already? Addicted to Palestinian control withdrawal. Do they need a 12 step program?

Israel has no legitimate right to stand in the way of Palestinian statehood. NONE!

(Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, (click here) threatening to punish the Palestinians for unilateral moves towards statehood, said on Sunday Israel was willing to press on with U.S.-brokered peace talks but not "at any price".

Netanyahu did not immediately specify what action he might take after President Mahmoud Abbas signed 15 international conventions, mainly through the United Nations, that Israel fears could give the Palestinians greater leverage against it.

U.S. Secretary of State Kerry's intensive attempts to put the talks that began in July back on track and extend them beyond an April 29 deadline unraveled in the past week after Abbas's surprise move.

Palestinians said Abbas took the step in response to Israel's failure to carry out a pledge to free several dozen Palestinian prisoners. Israel said it first wanted a Palestinian commitment to keep negotiations going past the end of the month....

Leverage against it? I don't get it. There is some magical powers that will grant Palestine leverage against Israel?

The USA is at the peace talks table. Ahhhhh....what power is being given to Palestine that will threaten Israel?

On an international level, Palestine does not need Israel's permission within it's own borders. I realize Israel enjoys a great deal of freedom of movement within the Palestinian territories, but, that is for policing and keeping order simply because Israel can. That eventually will be diminished in power and occurrence. The idea is for Israel and Palestine to have peace within a common region. The idea Palestine's definition of sovereign right is not the issue.

The late Prime Minister Sharon knew that ultimately Israel and Palestine needed to have peace. He went above and beyond in reconciling that reality. There is no power the USA is going to consent to that would allow Israel to be compromised, so it doesn't really make sense there are still hurdles about national security. National security for Israel IS national security for Palestine.

For all the complaining Israel does about the difficulty in protecting it's narrow sized nation, that same dynamic in protecting sovereignty is at least 100 times more difficult for Palestine. As a matter of fact, the Israeli incursions into Palestine proves that repeatedly.

The only things needed here is a PERMITTING process for commercial goods passing through borders or across water into Palestine, including Gaza, that would result in safety for both Palestine and Israel. And the clear definitions of borders and water supply. That is all that is needed. There is nothing difficult about this except ending the settlement problem because it is a political problem in Israel. There is an easy way to settle that political vollyball in Israel. The international community can take away the debate by clearly defining the borders of Palestine and the sanctions that will result if Israel does not respect them.

As a matter of fact, once the sovereign borders of Palestine are made in 'permanent ink' the volatility that remains between these people can be recognized as crimes against humanity and the criminals taken to the international courts.

Life might even be boring in Israel and it will have to politically address 'what's next' and how Israel is prospering. The IDF will still have a role in Israel and that is defined without question. But, if the region is to be secure enough to actually find peace within day to day life, that would be a major political accomplishment and it's enforcement would be vital in political elections.

There will be no more Israel expansionism. It won't happen.
