I sound like a broken record, but, it has been decades that scientists have spoken about Global Warming. The Greenhouse Effect. How the icefields have degraded and the ice caps are fading.
Decades. During that time the majority influence has been Republican. The influence was mostly in balance between the Executive Branch, Congress, Senate and the Courts. Politics was politics over that time and while one party had better ideas than another there was no chance the sovereignty of this nation was an issue as it is with the Bush White House.
The USA Dollar has never been in worse condition and while there was hope there would be a bounce back over the last half year or so, a slowing of the growing debt, a slight chance there would be a little more income; Bush could not help himself by leaping to the forefront and demanding the 'RESPENDING' of any available income to continue what he sees as a phenomina when all it is amounts to windfall profits by corporations that have had their treasuries padded with government monies and contracts. Here again, rather than preparedness, Bush sets the USA for more vulnerability and seeks to trash the dollar more with increased debit RATHER THAN "A Rainy Day Fund."
What? The USA needs a "Rainy Day Fund?" Hogwash. The USA is the wealthiest country in the world we can do as we please. It would seem to be the case when government policies are built on lies and the administration gets away with those lies with no backlash selling the USA treasury and it's taxpayers to their no bid buddies. In the case of Katrina, rather than federal dollars going to a trust for New Orleans to hire their own "BID FOR" contracts they are AGAIN going to Bush's Inner and Corrupt Circle. Where does this insanity ever end?
New Orleans is a city. It is a city in a state of this country. It has it's own laws and rules for obtaining contracts that fulfill standards of construction. The companies that come to New Orleans should be approved by the Mayor and Council and not forced down their throats by Bush's invasion and occupation into Iraq. The disrespect for a minority mayor and a female governor by the federal government is just astounding. When the state and local governments of these storm tossed areas of the USA should be looking for an infusion of income back to their treasuries with rebuilding and the hiring of displaced persons from the Parish of Orleans they are instead faced with clean up and rebuilding efforts as if occupied by the Bush/Cheney Invasion. It's unconstitutional. New Orleans will have to take those companies to court to stop the ravages of monies intended for the reconstruction that should be going to companies the City of New Orleans have long trusted and know it and how it grew. This is outrage.
But, somehow, Bush/Cheney and the money machine that is a predator for them know that people will be outraged, but so what, they are only words. And only words they are. For days we were outraged and for days were heard how help was coming and for days never did. We then witnessed Bush in a presiden't huddle in Mississippi for photo ops. What? People were still going crazy, still hungry, families still split apart and the streets of a great city are running with oil, chemicals and feces. Huddling for a photo op? What kind of insanity is that? People will actually applaud him, them? Really? They should consider themselves lucky for not facing a firing squad as far as I am concerned. I must be living my life wrong. Rather than realizing the huge disregard that exists in DC these days for citizen lives we need to live with what is and find a way to 'be a part of it' rather than standing in judgement of it.
The Democrats have never been in a better position to take a leadership role to straighten out the disaster called post Katrina USA and what do I hear from the media nearly at every turn, dissing of every Democrat who dare speak a word against an administration that has just wiped out a city of the south while killing yet an untold number of citizens. The country should be in outrage and all that is said is 'sympathy?'
Something is drastically wrong and news networks all over the country are reporting that 'girls are wearing pink and cooking meals for soldiers while boys are wearing blue and fly missions over New Orleans to find survivors." It's nuts. Cher gets on NewsNight, freshly named "Anderson Cooper Still without Disease," and pours herself into a PR blitz that sounds like Donna Reed with a new identity. The GIs were being served hot meals? Volunteer cantinas who hoped to be serving evacuees who needed someone to 'care' were replaced by National Guard troops stating "This is great, we have been eating MRE's for a week now." This is sanity? Because the next cut away of Anderson, who is starting to look as though he is from Biafra himself, is of another volunteer who states this is an MRE and this is what the evacuees will be eating for the next month in this shelter. Let me get this right. GIs eat hot meals prepared by people who want to feel good about this disaster played out over news services 24-7 and the evacuees, mostly black, are to feel good about receiving MREs for the rest of their lives.
What is wrong with this picture?
One can tell the people who have nothing more to do with their lives but watch 'feel good' TV as every expert and especially those that aren't tell how they can make a difference. Truly. They can get that 'feel good about yourself' feeling if only "Charlie, can you spare a dime? Or leave your way of life to find a homeless New Orleans person while taking their hand and finding the first news network camera you can find while saying "Hi, Mom."
The entire picture of this disaster has shifted from responsibilty to 'what gets ratings' in a way that relieves the government of any wrong doing. The man most responsible on most people's lips is that of the Bad Attitude Black Man that left those people there to drown when he knew better. The concensus is building and what is to stop the next lynch mob of news media blitz from publically hanging Democrats in the Gulf Coast States for the sake of the party. At a time in the USA when "Mississippi Burning" finds bail rather than jail it is only a quandry to realize there is no such thing as justice left in this country so much as enforcing the 'status quo' as long as the status quo looks like the bigoted south.
The people most responsible for the disaster that brought Katrina are George Walker Bush and Dick Cheney. Where is Georgie by the way? Making speeches that Jordan is laughing at as well.
And where is Iraq in all this? Gone? Forever? Are we finally pullling out of that horrid war without reason, forever?
No.
They are once again pulling a 'Fallujah' and killing Iraqis at will.
But, alas, the USA is too frenzied once again to pay attention to the brutality of still another attempt to silence an insurgency at the cost of lives untold. Quote: Mohammad Rasheed, the mayor of Tal Afar states, "The operation is targeting Sunni neighborhoods. The problem cannot be solved with military operations. It should be done through negotiations and co-operations from Sunni and Shia tribes." I thought this was a democracy where opinons of elected officials count. I gues not.
And where is the figure head Iraqi government on all this? Receiving dignitaries who want to stop the insults leveled at Jordan and shore up an understanding of solidarity between the Arab nations. Really? It would seem the people of Tal Afar know nothing of solidarity but only of carnage.
Carnage, now there is a word. It a word to describe an administration in DC who allows it to occur at will while people dance in delight of feeling purpose in their lives as a distraction to realty sponsored by news agencies enthralled with the ratings and opportunity to bring people together under a Christian moniker to improve the voter base come 2006. It is a feed loop that the American people should be ashamed of when they should be focusing on replacing criminals with a responsible government.
The SHAME of this is that no one wants to deal with the reality their country has been destroyed by their government who has no clue to the responsibility it needs to carry out or the method to do it.
The SHAME of this country is it's unwillingness to take responsibility of the environment now called Global Warming while indulging pathetically in dumping dollars into a tragedy that could have been completely avoided. That's right completely avoided. Not just the evacation of the citizens of New Orleans. Or the shored up levees. But, Katrina itself would never have occurred if it were not fueled by an Arctic Ocean vortex with peripheral reach to the equator.
This is complete stupidity. Complete ignorance. Complete idocy in order to dismiss and live in denial of the dynamics of Earth that no one paid heed to four decades ago.
I am in complete disgust of this country.

A Call For "HELP"
A Call for the United Nations to send Observers to the USA Devastation Area
The body recovery to the Gulf Coast area is underway with much doubt being added daily to the 'competency' of the accounting. The Bush Administration does not want to be embarrassed and wishes to diminish the impact.
Last night on NewsNight there was a 'scenario' introduced stating 'numbers' at the beginning of an event of this magnitude can be more speculative than real. Tonight that theme was conveniently repeated. Propaganda. Very suspicious.
Today the USA government has moved against media organizations in court to prevent a video accounting of the removal of the dead. The media organization state they will seek to fend this off, but, as of recent this administration is jailing journalists in regard to an investigation regarding the outing of a CIA agent.
This administration is corrupt in it's practices. While the USA is believed to be the wealthiest country in the world, it's face is more that of a Third World country especially with it's escalating numbers of poor. There is no longer representative government in Washington, DC. There is however a regime that plays it's electorate along for favored status. Has the USA become much less than some of the most violent regimes invading other countries for their assets while neglecting their people at home? It might be considered in it's infancy, but, it's all true.
I hope there will not be a large number of dead, but, at the same instance I don't want bodies to be bulldozed along with towns to hide a correct body count. These people deserved to be indentified with proper burials.
I believe it is time for the United Nations to send Independant Observers as they did with the elections to areas now being cleared of the dead so everyone can have a clear conscience regarding this issue.
It is necessary with illegal and immoral governments to take a stand, it is clearly that time to view the 'morality' of this regime in DC in that light.

September 5, 2005. Infrared Satellite. Connect the dots. Nate, Ophelia and their Pacific equivalent is at the lower latitudes where they will build velocity faster. The Gulf system is still of a concern. The Pacific heat will move toward the Gulf. The same occurred between Hilary and Katrina.
The Arctic Vortex is spinning faster than the lower latitudes. Might be where the jet strean is hiding. You can see it in this loop. Top of world.

Bad News Bears.
Like Wow.
The convection center that was over the Gulf of Mexico has attained a full vortex circulation that is established over Mexico.
Hurricane Maria has achieved Cat 3 status and is sustaining it. It is taking the place of a vortex flow that has moved off the satellite picture. Maria is serving as the heat dissipation that is coming along the 'system' from the equator. This system is a stable system.
Maria and Nate are fully ocean hurricanes driving heat into the waters.
Ophelia is a pull me, push you that carries heat from the equator to the system while also accepting energy (heat energy) form the Mexco Convection system.
There are a lot of storms over the Gulf.
There is also a southern reaching vortex that maifested about three hours ago. It was spawned off Nate and reaches the ocean/continent border with South America.
There are storms across the Gulf and Mexico into the Pacific.
This is a pattern I have seen before BUT the system has never been this stable. It's sustaining itself. This type of system manifested Katrina.
While these hurricanes are delivering heat to the oceans, which is very dangerous to our ocean heating at highly accelerated rates with stable hurricanes in place, they are also absorbing heat which increases their Cat level and mph rate. They are building to a cresendo. The system does have a limit. there is a storm over Missouri, too.
The stretch of 'water vapor' shared between Nate and Maria looks like a dense cloud. That is new. I have never seen a high resolution water vapor satellite that actually looks like clouds. I can only imagine what is happening in the oceans under these two hurricanes.
Maria still reaches up to the Arctic Ocean.
We are looking at a stable system that dates back to Sept. 1 with Maria. We may be looking at resident hurricanes for some time.
Global Warming.
It's going to make the oceans too hot. Algae and phytoplankton won't be able to live under a great deal of heat.
Yassar Arafat the day he left Palestine for medical treatment. It would be the last time the public would see him alive. I am rather surprised at this late date an investigation is being conducted. He was a ill man. He died the rebel hero to the people who loved him. This muckracking only serves to fuel militant opposition to the PA. It will most assuredly diminish the way he is seen in history if indeed he was killed at the hand of those that surrounded him.

BILOXI: Katrina claims 5,014 structures
BILOXI - Biloxi lost about 20 percent of its structures to Hurricane Katrina, said Community Development Director Jerry Creel.
Creel said the city lost 5,014 structures of the city's 25,575 structures and that some of those still standing will later be condemned. The office complied maps that will become more detailed as the city's assessment of the damages moves forward. The Department of Community Development began with a "windshield assessment." There will be more details added to the city's damage database as more buildings are condemned.

Dry spell predicted
Weather across the Gulf Coast will continue in an unusually quiet September pattern for the next several days, with mostly fair skies and relatively low humidity.
High pressure is building Thursday across Tennessee, preventing the formation of showers and thunderstorms. Dew point temperatures at Biloxi are forecast to remain in the low to mid 60's today and Friday - a nice break from humid conditions of recent weeks.

Sharon delays razing of Gaza Strip synagogues
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon decided Thursday night to postpone the demolition of synagogues in the Gaza Strip, despite a Supreme Court decision earlier in the day allowing the razing of the buildings.
Sharon complied with a request by Defense Ministry Shaul Mofaz, who suggested trying to find ways to avert the demolitions, and to transfer responsibility for the houses of worship to other parties.
A final decision on the matter will be made at a cabinet meeting on Sunday.

IDF kills Palestinian near evacuated southern Gaza Strip settlement
Israel Defense Forces soldiers shot two Palestinians who approached an evacuated Gaza Strip settlement on Thursday, killing one and wounding the other, witnesses and medics said.
Doctors said that 20-year-old Rafah resident Bashir Sufi was killed in the incident, and that a 14-year-old boy was wounded in the leg.
An IDF spokeswoman said troops fired at a group of Palestinians seen cutting through the fence around Rafiah Yam. The soldiers were patrolling the settlement and had earlier come under fire from Palestinian gunmen in the area, the spokeswoman said. There were no Israeli casualties.

Medical experts: Yasser Arafat died of AIDS or poisoning
An analysis of the confidential medical report on Yasser Arafat's death reveals three main possibilities as to the cause: poisoning, AIDS or an infection.
Israel and foreign doctors who have seen the report say the details do not lead to a conclusive determination on what caused the death.
After Arafat died on November 11, 2004 at a military hospital in Paris, copies of the pathology report compiled by the hospital staff - and kept under wraps until now - were handed over to Arafat's widow, Suha, and senior Palestinian Authority officials. The report's findings are now being published for the first time in the revised edition of "The Seventh War" by journalists Amos Harel and Avi Isacharoff, to be released next week by Yedioth Ahronoth in Hebrew.

IDF prosecutors charge West Bank Palestinian with Al-Qaida link
Israel Defense Forces prosecutors charged a Palestinian on Thursday with undergoing training at an Al-Qaida camp in Afghanistan, but said the defendant later declined an offer to join Osama bin Laden's global network.
While Al-Qaida has often attacked Israelis abroad and champions the Palestinian cause, security experts believe its presence in the West Bank and Gaza Strip is negligible due to doctrinal differences with dominant local Islamist groups.
The indictment filed at Judea Military Court alleged that Mahmoud Waridat, a 26-year-old West Bank man arrested in July, received training in small-arms and bomb-making at "al-Farouq," an Al-Qaida camp outside Kandahar, in the summer of 2001.

Opinion: Rebuild our shock absorbers
Louisiana's leaders at home and in Washington, as well as this newspaper, have been sounding the alarm about our coastline for years, begging Congress and the Bush administration to provide the resources needed to address decades of erosion caused by human activity as well as natural forces.
We said the stripping away of our coastal marshland left our area naked to the onslaught of hurricanes. We said communities would be battered, oil and gas networks would be shut down, and lives would be lost.
Today, there is no comfort for us in the phrase, "We told you so.''
The price tag for protecting this region was $14 billion. Does anyone think that price is too high now? Just last month, however, the Bush administration was actively fighting even modest efforts to start the flow of money, $540 million over the next four years, provided in the energy bill. Despite White House opposition, Congress approved that start. Last month, that seemed like progress. This month, it seems like a cruel joke.

A week in the ruins of Mississippi

Bay St. Louis. Ms. - I had planned to ride out Hurricane Katrina in a schoolhouse-turned shelter about seven miles north of Pass Christian. When, on the day before landfall, police advised that the building - DeLisle Elementary - was no longer on the list of approved shelters, I cast about for an alternative bse of operations.
Not unlike the little pigs of fairy-tale fame fleeing the I'll-blow-your-house-down wolf, I join family members - including my mother, retreating from her home in Bay St. Louis, and a sister with her three children from Diamondhead - at the house built by my brother, Thyrone, with invaluable help from an uncle. The house, barley north of Interstate 10, is a solid, spacious, one-story structure, and my brother, like our late father, is a man of action during and after natural disasters.
The lens opens here on the personal, week-long journey of a Times-Picayune reporter struggling with other coastal Mississippi residents in Katrina's whirlpool of misery.

650 rescued since Wednesday
Nine days after Hurricane Katrina devastated the New Orleans area, search-and-rescue patrols are still finding people who have been stuck in their homes since the storm.
Maj. Gen Ron Mason said National Guard helped rescue more than 650 people in between Wednesday and Thursday morning from the flood-ravaged region: Five hundred by high-clearance trucks, 150 by boat and 37 by air. "The mission of saving lives is an ongoing mission," he said.
Mason estimated that fewer than 10,000 people remain in New Orleans, and said the Guard has yet to receive orders from Gov. Kathleen Blanco to aid in the mandatory evacuations being carried out by police. Rather than forcing people from their homes, Mason said, the guard has been able to persuade many holdouts to leave by explaining that it will be months before electric power, plumbing and other basic services are available.

An estimated 200 Jefferson Parish residents have perished in Hurricane Katrina, their bodies likely trapped in homes in the West Bank neighborhoods of Westminster and Lincolnshire where flood waters rose as high as four feet and many residents didn't have the means to evacuate, Emergency Managment Director Walter Maestri said Thursday.
Federal and local officials are expected to begin recovering the dead in those areas, as well as in swamped portions of Old Metairie and around Airline Highway, on Friday or Saturday while workers restore utilities so Jefferson can become a staging area for the recovery of Orleans and St. Bernard parishes, Maestri said.

Despite convictions, Mordechai's rank stays

The Winograd Commission, tasked with deciding upon the rank of Maj.- Gen. (res.) Yitzhak Mordechai determined Thursday that he will not be demoted in rank, in spite of his 2001 sexual harassment conviction.
The committee argued that although his future in the IDF had been permanently halted, Mordechai brought honor to Israel throughout his career and thus had earned his rank.
Former Defense Minister Mordechai was convicted of two counts of sexual harassment - one against an IDF officer and the second against a Likud employee.

Gov't readies to exit Gaza

The country is quickly preparing for next week's impending total evacuation from Gaza.
A group of 1,500 IDF soldiers arrived in Gush Katif on Thursday on a mission to collect the rubbish left behind.
Meanwhile, the High Court of Justice was set to continue on Thursday its discussion regarding the petitions against demolishing the synagogues in Gush Katif and northern Samaria.
The petitioners believed that the ruling would be given on Thursday, since the IDF's exit from Gush Katif was expedited.

Israel to return Hizbullah member's body

Israel will return the remains of a Hizbullah fighter killed two months ago in a gun battle along the Israel-Lebanon border, officials said Thursday.
The military said it agreed to handover the body in response to a formal request from the Lebanese government. Hizbullah TV reported the handover would take place later Thursday. The Israeli army declined to confirm the information, but said the handover would happen by Saturday.

Bosnia to replicate 600-year-old haggadah

It survived the Spanish Inquisition, Nazi invaders, the Bosnian war and the ravages of time. Now, for the first time, replicas of the Sarajevo Haggadah - a 600-year-old Jewish manuscript - are to be sold to the public.
A total of 613 replicas of the document are to be printed and made available by next Passover, Jakob Finci, the head of the Jewish community in Bosnia, told The Associated Press Thursday.

The win gives Israel 15 points with one game left in their qualification group, but even a win against the same side in its final qualifier on October 8 at Ramat Gan guarantees nothing. BILOXI: Katrina claims 5,014 structures
BILOXI - Biloxi lost about 20 percent of its structures to Hurricane Katrina, said Community Development Director Jerry Creel.
Creel said the city lost 5,014 structures of the city's 25,575 structures and that some of those still standing will later be condemned. The office complied maps that will become more detailed as the city's assessment of the damages moves forward. The Department of Community Development began with a "windshield assessment." There will be more details added to the city's damage database as more buildings are condemned.

Dry spell predicted
Weather across the Gulf Coast will continue in an unusually quiet September pattern for the next several days, with mostly fair skies and relatively low humidity.
High pressure is building Thursday across Tennessee, preventing the formation of showers and thunderstorms. Dew point temperatures at Biloxi are forecast to remain in the low to mid 60's today and Friday - a nice break from humid conditions of recent weeks.

Sharon delays razing of Gaza Strip synagogues
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon decided Thursday night to postpone the demolition of synagogues in the Gaza Strip, despite a Supreme Court decision earlier in the day allowing the razing of the buildings.
Sharon complied with a request by Defense Ministry Shaul Mofaz, who suggested trying to find ways to avert the demolitions, and to transfer responsibility for the houses of worship to other parties.
A final decision on the matter will be made at a cabinet meeting on Sunday.

IDF kills Palestinian near evacuated southern Gaza Strip settlement
Israel Defense Forces soldiers shot two Palestinians who approached an evacuated Gaza Strip settlement on Thursday, killing one and wounding the other, witnesses and medics said.
Doctors said that 20-year-old Rafah resident Bashir Sufi was killed in the incident, and that a 14-year-old boy was wounded in the leg.
An IDF spokeswoman said troops fired at a group of Palestinians seen cutting through the fence around Rafiah Yam. The soldiers were patrolling the settlement and had earlier come under fire from Palestinian gunmen in the area, the spokeswoman said. There were no Israeli casualties.

An analysis of the confidential medical report on Yasser Arafat's death reveals three main possibilities as to the cause: poisoning, AIDS or an infection.
Israel and foreign doctors who have seen the report say the details do not lead to a conclusive determination on what caused the death.
After Arafat died on November 11, 2004 at a military hospital in Paris, copies of the pathology report compiled by the hospital staff - and kept under wraps until now - were handed over to Arafat's widow, Suha, and senior Palestinian Authority officials. The report's findings are now being published for the first time in the revised edition of "The Seventh War" by journalists Amos Harel and Avi Isacharoff, to be released next week by Yedioth Ahronoth in Hebrew.

IDF prosecutors charge West Bank Palestinian with Al-Qaida link
Israel Defense Forces prosecutors charged a Palestinian on Thursday with undergoing training at an Al-Qaida camp in Afghanistan, but said the defendant later declined an offer to join Osama bin Laden's global network.
While Al-Qaida has often attacked Israelis abroad and champions the Palestinian cause, security experts believe its presence in the West Bank and Gaza Strip is negligible due to doctrinal differences with dominant local Islamist groups.
The indictment filed at Judea Military Court alleged that Mahmoud Waridat, a 26-year-old West Bank man arrested in July, received training in small-arms and bomb-making at "al-Farouq," an Al-Qaida camp outside Kandahar, in the summer of 2001.

Opinion: Rebuild our shock absorbers
Louisiana's leaders at home and in Washington, as well as this newspaper, have been sounding the alarm about our coastline for years, begging Congress and the Bush administration to provide the resources needed to address decades of erosion caused by human activity as well as natural forces.
We said the stripping away of our coastal marshland left our area naked to the onslaught of hurricanes. We said communities would be battered, oil and gas networks would be shut down, and lives would be lost.
Today, there is no comfort for us in the phrase, "We told you so.''
The price tag for protecting this region was $14 billion. Does anyone think that price is too high now? Just last month, however, the Bush administration was actively fighting even modest efforts to start the flow of money, $540 million over the next four years, provided in the energy bill. Despite White House opposition, Congress approved that start. Last month, that seemed like progress. This month, it seems like a cruel joke.

A week in the ruins of Mississippi

Bay St. Louis. Ms. - I had planned to ride out Hurricane Katrina in a schoolhouse-turned shelter about seven miles north of Pass Christian. When, on the day before landfall, police advised that the building - DeLisle Elementary - was no longer on the list of approved shelters, I cast about for an alternative bse of operations.
Not unlike the little pigs of fairy-tale fame fleeing the I'll-blow-your-house-down wolf, I join family members - including my mother, retreating from her home in Bay St. Louis, and a sister with her three children from Diamondhead - at the house built by my brother, Thyrone, with invaluable help from an uncle. The house, barley north of Interstate 10, is a solid, spacious, one-story structure, and my brother, like our late father, is a man of action during and after natural disasters.
The lens opens here on the personal, week-long journey of a Times-Picayune reporter struggling with other coastal Mississippi residents in Katrina's whirlpool of misery.
