Alexei Navalny has't been heard from since being taken to a prison camp. That is a mistake. The missing opposition leader should be visible to the Russian public.

Berlin - On the second anniversary (click here) of the poisoning attack on Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny, Germany and the United States hailed the determination of the Kremlin critic who is still imprisoned in Russia on charges those nations consider politically motivated.

“He barely survived the assassination attempt. He was able to recover in Germany,” German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in a video message released Saturday, praising the Russian dissident’s bravery for going back to his homeland....

He is a propagandist.

Daria, (click here) daughter of Alexander Dugin, allegedly the brainchild of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has been killed in an attack.

...Dugin, a scathing critic of the United States (click here) who has been on its sanctions list since 2015, has often been credited with influencing the Kremlin’s thinking on Russian expansion and Ukraine, although his links to Putin have been sometimes overstated and the extent of their direct relationship is unclear. Dugin doesn’t hold an official government position.

Dugin, who has theorized about a perpetual war between Russia and the West for decades, has long called for the reabsorption of Ukraine into Russia. Experts say his language and expansionist views of Russia’s place in the world have been echoed by the Kremlin and in recent speeches by Putin. He was active in breakaway regions in the 2008 Russia-Georgia war and in 2014 in Ukraine, where U.S. officials say he recruited individuals with military and combat experience to fight on behalf of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic. The separatist enclave in eastern Ukraine has played a central role in Putin’s justification of the war.

Dugin also controls Geopolitica, “a website that serves as a platform for Russian ultra-nationalists to spread disinformation and propaganda targeting Western and other audiences,” according to U.S. Treasury officials. The website has accused the United States and NATO of provoking war with Russia to “further terrorize the American people in all sorts of malicious ways.”...

There are reports that Ilya Vladimirovich Ponomarev a Russian politician, former member of the Duma and a technology entrepreneur states, "This action (the assassination of Dugina), like many other direct partisan actions carried out on the territory of Russia in recent months, was carried out by the National Republican Army (NRA)..."

Ponomarev as a member of the Russian Duma voted against the annexation of Crimea and the invasion into Ukraine. He was expelled from the Duma for anti-Kremlin activities. The NRA is an underground partisan group working for a violent overthrow of the Putin regime.

It is a civil war in Russia. Vladimir Putin has no insight to his own country's instability should the tables turn. There are Russians that want a different country, a different governance (ie: Navalny - click here) and the war into Ukraine has now opened up the internal weaknesses of Russia. They were underground, they are now surfacing in ways Putin could never imagine.

The Russian people, many the up and coming generations, are against communism and their president. It is an instability that can't be oppressed forever. This is the beginning of an overthrow of the communist regime in Russia. These Russians have stood by and watched the Post-Soviet states become strong and resilient to Russia's fantasy of reconstituting the USSR. They are stronger today knowing their values are the right values for them and Russia.

There will be peace. I am more confident of it today, than before. China will follow.

It is reported that tourists into Crimea are exposing Russian assets in photos posted to social media. The postings by more than one Russian tourist was used as intelligence. The Russian people know little about the Ukraine invasion, so to see Russian military assets in Crimea is like visiting a military base and taking pictures with the country's might. Citizen journalists. That is amazing. Congratulation to Ukraine's intelligence agents.

A holiday picture (click here) taken by a Russian tourist visiting a beach in occupied Crimea may have inadvertently given the location of Putin’s air defences away to Ukrainian forces, the Ukrainian Defence Ministry has claimed.

The swimsuit-clad tourist poses in front of “active” S-400 air defence systems positioned around the Yevpatoria Salt Lake next to the Black Sea coast.

The Defence of Ukraine tweeted: “Maybe we are being too hard on russian tourists… Sometimes they can be really helpful.

“Like this man taking pictures at russian air defence positions near Yevpatoria, in occupied Crimea. Thank you and keep up the good work!”

Dr. Anthony Fauci, celebrated by George W. Bush (click here) lead the USA through the most difficult time in it's history as a global pandemic descended on the country's people.

It was astounding to me that while he kept his perspective and believed the science, a part of America treated a deadly virus as a political lie. 

I thank Dr. Fauci for keeping the faith and persevering through the exposure of so many Americans of a virus that has had many variants due to non-compliance of those being infected.

He lead this country in the face of hatred for political gain. It is hideous to think about. Dr. Anthony Fauci while leading the NIH through a political nightmare never stopped. He never, not one day, threw in the towel to allow political personalities to override his message. He saved countless lives.

Human space flight is beginning again and the USA should be proud of a program long in the making.

With Artemis missions, (click here) NASA will land the first woman and first person of color on the Moon, using innovative technologies to explore more of the lunar surface than ever before. We will collaborate with commercial and international partners and establish the first long-term presence on the Moon. Then, we will use what we learn on and around the Moon to take the next giant leap: sending the first astronauts to Mars.

As with all the space projects the USA has conducted, if it were to arrive at it's destination with far less expense it would be a bonus. But, the US space program is unmatched by any other. The Artemis missions are expensive, but, through in obtaining perfection in it's purpose.

The name Artemis is perfect for the program.

The last major goddess (click here) we will explore in this “Shakespeare and Greek Myths” series may have been Shakespeare’s favorite, based on the frequency with which he references her. Artemis was the goddess of chastity, hunting, and the moon, often depicted with her trusty bow and arrow and a short tunic to aid in running through the woods. Her maidenly virtue—for she swore never to marry—was presented in counterpoint to the passionate and fiery Aphrodite.

It would seem as though Artemis is a wholesome inspiration to any young lady.

I am deeply fascinated by the fact that Artemis remained a chaste huntress. (click here) A woman wild and free as nature itself, making the choice to have her pure soul untouched and undistracted by other people’s desires. Artemis — the Goddess who is solely focused on hunting down the desires of her heart and always obtains them, her arrow always hitting their intended mark.

She brings the magic of intuition, accuracy, psychic power, love and light, while maintaining her independence and self-reliance. How could I not be enchanted by this tireless woman, whose eyes are on the prize, no matter what direction she looks in?

She inspires faith — a knowing that I have achieved my goals way before I see them unraveling in front of me. I must not solely rely on tangible senses when it comes to my pursuits, but on the faith that if I remain determined and intentional, anything I set out to achieve shall materialize....

The basic difference between a 501(c)3 and a 501(c)4 is about effecting legislation.

To be tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) (click here) of the Internal Revenue Code, an organization must be organized and operated exclusively for exempt purposes set forth in section 501(c)(3), and none of its earnings may inure to any private shareholder or individual. In addition, it may not be an action organization, i.e., it may not attempt to influence legislation as a substantial part of its activities and it may not participate in any campaign activity for or against political candidates....

The difference is incredible. A good real world example is "Sierra Club." The primary purpose is for it's members to enjoy the natural world. But, in a world where real estate includes the natural world there is a chronic fight to keep it wild. Therefore, "Sierra Club" is actually two separate organizations. They have a 501(c)3 and (c)4. Each operates autonomously and they do not share monies. If a member donates to the 501(c)3 of Sierra Club they can be reassured they will be protecting activities that support enjoyment and land use. If members are interested in promoting certain programs and need legal leverage to maintain those programs, then donations to the Sierra Club 501(c)4 accepts those monies and applies them to activities of lobbying.

...Seeking legislation germane (click here) to the organization's programs is a permissible means of attaining social welfare purposes. Thus, a section 501(c)(4) social welfare organization may further its exempt purposes through lobbying as its primary activity without jeopardizing its exempt status. An organization that has lost its section 501(c)(3) status due to substantial attempts to influence legislation may not thereafter qualify as a section 501(c)(4) organization. In addition, a section 501(c)(4) organization that engages in lobbying may be required to either provide notice to its members regarding the percentage of dues paid that are applicable to lobbying activities or pay a proxy tax.....

The donations of a 501(c)3 are completely deductible to the member or organization that contributes, but, that is not the case with the 501(c)4 which is primarily used to lobby. That is why the organizations claiming to be (c)3 rather than (c)4 needs to be investigated for tax fraud as well as their donors. Donors should know they are donating for lobbying rather than organizational goals, especially if it is calling itself a Social Welfare organization.

Therefore, Steven Laws and all those other bozos that apply the law wrongly, need to be charged and prosecuted AND they and their donors need to pay more taxes to the USA Treasury.

Dark money contin­ues to seep into exec­ut­ive, legis­lat­ive, and even judi­cial elec­tions, threat­en­ing the impar­ti­al­ity of state supreme courts across the coun­try. Without trans­par­ency, voters don’t know who is trying to influ­ence them, making it harder for them to reach informed decisions.

The Bren­nan Center publishes extens­ive research on the effects of dark money in polit­ics, includ­ing its effects in state and local elec­tions, risks to judi­cial inde­pend­ence, and the threat of foreign funds in U.S. elec­tions. The center has proposed reforms to the Federal Elec­tions Commit­tee that would help the agency better enforce the law and improve campaign spend­ing trans­par­ency....

Dark Money, as prescribed by the Robert's Court, is an insult to the democratic process in the USA. It has created a profound danger to the USA as non-disclosure was the way the NRA received monies from Russia. 

From campaign finance violations (click here) to corporate influence, the year was stocked with highs and lows.

The Robert's Court has strategically dissolved protections to citizens in the way of voting rights and campaign financing. Considering the very competent Former FBI Director Robert Mueller exposed the insult of Russian money to our sovereign elections it is easy to say, the Robert's Court is not competent in protecting the USA Constitution as well as living by it.

Yeah. There needs to be a watchdog, otherwise say good-bye to democracy in the USA.

There really is no oversight to these outfits.

A new group (click here) led by a prominent conservative lawyer has received $1.6 billion from one donor – the largest single contribution to a politically focused nonprofit that’s ever been made public, and a fortune that could be used to fuel right-wing interests.

The nonprofit, Marble Freedom Trust, received the contribution in the form of stock and then funneled more than $200 million to other conservative organizations last year, a tax form CNN obtained from the IRS shows.

Marble Freedom is led by Leonard Leo, the co-chairman of the conservative Federalist Society, who advised former President Donald Trump on his Supreme Court picks and runs a sprawling network of other right-wing nonprofits that don’t disclose their donors, which are often referred to as dark money groups....

Here is another one operating as a non-profit when it is actually a political non-profit.

The Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies (click here) is a 501(c)(3) organization, with an IRS ruling year of 1983, and donations are tax-deductible

The Federalist Society of Law and Public Policy Studies is a political arm of the Federalist Society. The Federalist Society has a lot of these policy groups. No different than Steven Laws has four political dark money PACS, each one of the Federalist Society arms can act as a fund raising autonomously from the parent organization.

Compensates Board - This Federalist Society group spends 93.44 percent on it's governance. Never thought a non-profit of any kind should have highly compensated members of its Board of Directors. Expenses to get to meetings and hotels for when meetings run long, but, expense funds while addressing their responsibilities. But, this? Unethical to say the least.
The IRS requires that any compensation paid to members of the charity's governing body be listed on the Form 990. Furthermore, all members of the governing body need to be listed whether or not they are compensated. It is not unusual for some members of the board to have compensation listed. The executive director of the organization frequently has a seat on the board, for instance, and is compensated for being a full time staff member. However, it is rare for a charity to compensate individuals only for serving on its Board of Directors. Although this sort of board compensation is not illegal, it is not considered a best practice.

The former Vice President is trying to lead a crowd of Republicans unable to reconcil their lack of loyalty to the country.

He, Rep. Liz Cheney and Rep. Adam Kinzinger are singular individuals with an interest in protecting the USA from internal aggression, but, they aren't having an easy time of it. In this case, the Former Vice President is standing up for the FBI and basically telling whoever is the GOP, "KNOCK IT OFF." He didn't say it that way.

Manchester - Former Vice President Mike Pence (click here) on Wednesday implored fellow Republicans to stop lashing out at the FBI over the search of Donald Trump’s Florida home and denounced calls by some of the former president’s allies to defund the FBI, saying that was “just as wrong” as a push by Democratic activists to shift money from police.

Pence also said he would give “due consideration” if asked to testify before the House committee investigating the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

His pleas for restraint come as law enforcement officials warn of an escalating number of violent threats targeting federal agents and government facilities since agents last week searched Mar-a-Lago as part of the Justice Department’s investigation into the discovery of classified White House records recovered from Trump’s estate earlier this year.

Speaking in New Hampshire, Pence said he has been troubled by what he called the politicization of the FBI. He also said the Justice Department and Attorney General Merrick Garland should be more forthcoming about what led authorities to conduct the search.

A 501(c)3 cannot be a political organization, not even a hint of political programs and donations.

The mission of API is to provide information to the people of Alabama about the legislative issues being debated in Montgomery and Washington D.C. and to be a reliable resource to our elected representatives on public policy issues. As a conservative think tank, API addresses a wide range of emerging policy issues in the areas of economics, education, the environment, government, family and society.

Alabama Policy Institute is a 501(c)(3) organization, with an IRS ruling year of 1981, and donations are tax-deductible.

There ain't no way this organization can be a conservative think tank and be non-partisan and be a 501(c)3. It is not possible.

This organization also cannot be contributing all that much if it has an expense ratio of 63.9 percent.

How many of these right wing organizations exist in this country under false identities?

API is a non-profit, non-partisan educational and research organization committed to free markets, limited government, and strong families. API reaches its goal of sound public policy through research, advocacy, and public education efforts....

The problem I have with this institute, is that their focus is not at all inclusive of Democrats and their principles. It's definition of it's mission and policies are very narrow and for the most part exclude Democratic candidates. If they aren't interested in sincere and true non-partisanship, then they need to clear up their act.

Now I am certain there are many good people connected to this organization and it's political monies, but, for an institute dedicated to strong economic principles they need to take an honest look at Alabama and tell their public they are supporting the best policies for Alabama.

Alabama is ranked ninth in the USA for it's poverty rate of 15.98 percent. Alabamans lean heavily on federal poverty programs as Tommy Tuberville will tell anyone who asks. One of his jobs as US Senator is to support the programs the people of Alabama need because the state has a gdp of about $49k per capita. That places Alabama about the middle of the country's GDP. It is lead by California with a GDP of $85k per capita. 

California has an interesting philosophy among it's residents. They take the issues on and look for solutions that might increase taxes, but, then the people aren't struggling anymore. It is one of, if not the most hard hit so far in the USA among states for the Climate Crisis. The state is active in it's approach and the people are following the lead of their Governor to prevent further and more difficult water shortages.

I am disappointed by the Alabama Policy Institute because it is not working for the people of Alabama and carries the wrong values when providing funds to political campaigns.

There is another guy that bothers me a bit, simply because he talks out of both sides of his mouth at the same time.

This is Caleb Crosby (click here). He controls political money in Alabama. He claims to be non-partisan, but, he doesn't donate as if he is. He speak for himself.

I have the honor of leading the Alabama Policy Institute, a non-partisan, non-profit educational and research institution which has championed free markets, limited government, and strong families for over 30 years.

When you look back at our state’s major policy discussions, you will most likely find that API was right there in the midst of the battle. We do not take lightly the task we have been given to work for good government which leads to flourishing and opportunity for all Alabamians.

...In a year (click here) when Republicans should have the advantage over Democrats, especially as President Biden’s approval ratings sag and inflation remains high, the GOP is facing surprisingly tight Senate races in several states — even with Republican groups providing huge sums of money to aid struggling candidates....

I think it is easy to understand the concern. The Republican money machine is controlled by literally one man and he can funnel those monies in any direction he wants. I find this rather unethical to say the least. Four different PACS with enormous amounts of money in the hands of one man. I really don't think this is legal. It skirts the maximum donations per organization. 

I am not certain, but, it could impact his law license as unethical political manipulation of money.

Just a little history. Everyone loves histoy, right?

When a group called Crossroads GPS (click here) sent the IRS an application for tax-exempt status in September 2010, Nancy Pelosi was speaker of the House, Snapchat hadn’t started doing whatever it does, and Miley Cyrus was still Hannah Montana.

A lot has changed since then, including the political influence of 501(c)(4) social welfare organizations like GPS, a brainchild of Karl Rove, Ed Gillespie and other GOP political operatives that was an early player in the post-Citizens United landscape. For example, in the 10 years leading up to that date, the combined political spending by organizations, like GPS, that aren’t required to disclose their donors stood at about $100 million. That was about $30 million less than was ultimately spent by such groups in the last few months of the 2010 midterms alone, and less than one-third of what they spent in the 2012 presidential election cycle. In that cycle, GPS’ political outlays alone made up nearly one-fourth of all spending by nondisclosing groups, as reported to the Federal Election Commission. None of those totals include the many ads GPS has run outside of the FEC’s reporting windows....

...But as OpenSecrets Blog first reported Tuesday, that long battle with the IRS finally ended last November, assuring prospective donors that the group is operating with the IRS’ blessing.

The decision has shocked many observers, though not Crossroads GPS itself, whose president Steven Law said the group was “pleased but not surprised.”...

It means the Republicans are running on monies from four different organizations run by at the most two people, but, primarily Steven Laws. Given the fact the Republican Party has become an extremist organization in the politics of the USA, that means one man, primarily holds the keys for every Republican running for office when it comes to monies in their political treasuries. Laws can so yes or no to any Republican that does not measure up to his expectations. 

There is a problem here with the idea any of these organizations are legal according to their own incorporation documents and/or the requirements under law of these organizations to exist at 301(c)4. There are no other persons seeing the cooked books either. There are far to few eyes on this money to decide if it is dark money from outside the USA or from extremist groups in the USA.

Steven Laws can distribute over the limits set by the election commissions because he is doing it with four separate free standing organizations. That is unethical, but, it also is fraud. One man is making decisions about what Republicans can and cannot say and do.

I defy anyone to find information regarding who exactly the Senate Leadership Fund is.

Mr. Law, a former chief of staff to Senate Majority Leader McConnell (R-KY), also talked about Senator McConnell, who is up for reelection in 2020. 

The Democrats request for donations is in response to this man's insistence that Republicans be elected in 2020 and 2024.

After more than a decade (click here) working side by side, the two men rarely talk these days. But Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Steven Law, his trusted former aide, remain a powerful combined force in Washington.

Law heads American Crossroads and Crossroads GPS, conservative groups whose $300 million budget has allowed them to outspend every other interest group in this election, as well as the Democratic National Committee. Together, the two groups have matched the Romney campaign in running anti-Obama ads, and in the past two months, they have put $35 million into 10 Senate races around the country — more than the Republican Party itself.

If things go his way, Law could deliver control of the Senate to the Republicans and their leader, McConnell. It would be a fitting outcome for the two, who have spent their careers in part shaping the rules governing how money is spent in politics....

I was always under the impression that Crossroads GPS was Karl Rove, not Steven Laws.

Mr. Putin has many domestic enemies, estimates as high as 50 percent of the Russian people.
