Reporting from Tripoli, Libya — 

Behind his aviator shades, (click title to entry - thank you) the driver of the silver sedan had that hired-killer stare as he pulled up alongside our minibus. He kept pace as the bus, ferrying 13 journalists away from Libya's crazed capital in June, lurched toward the sanity of post-revolutionary Tunisia. He pointed his rifle directly at us.

We dived for the floor or crouched down in a pathetic bid for cover, but there was no escape: The Kalashnikov rounds would penetrate the bus' skin like hot arrows tearing through papier-mache....

...at the Rixos Hotel would be best to approach some commander or trusted military agent to ask them to please not kill every journalist in the building.  They might ask to negotiate a settlement with TRAPPED loyalists to Kadafi.  The loyalists could be allowed to exist the hotel, unarmed and without retribution so journalists that have supported the rebels can continued to do so.


If the loyalists will fight to the death there is little to no chance they will surrender to be prisoners of war.


BUT.


They might very well kill the hostages.

Romney to unveil jobs plan Sept. 6 (click title to entry - thank you)

That is pure genius.  Completely.  It might actually be PURE GENUINE GENIUS if Mitt Romney was the first to announce that as the date he would unveil his new Jobs Plan.


The truth of the matter is, Mitt Romney has NO CLUE why he is unveiling his new jobs plan on September 6, 2011, BUT, President Obama might.


Gee, whiz.  President Obama, now campaigning for his second term thought it would be FUN  to announce his new jobs plan to the Working People of the USA after LABOR DAY.


Why would he think it would be fun and not funny?


Because Congress will be returning.  


It is a notable day to bring memory to the initiative.

AND.


It is HIS idea for his campaign and campaigns are suppose to be fun to those that volunteer for him.


Something "W"rong with that?  Seems interesting to me.

In 1992, during the Democratic Primaries, Gerry Brown stated in his run for President he would accept only $100 donations for his campaign.


He raised a considerable amount of money and came in third in the primaries.  He received matching government funds during those primaries.  He didn't win that nomination, but, he was an wonderful example of how average Americans believe in HONEST candidates.


He is again Governor Brown of California.  I am confident any candidate needing insight on how to raise campaign contributions can reach him for advice.


Oh, yeah.


There is another Democrat that FIRST asks his 'grassroots' for support through contributions they can send him.  He raised nearly $700,000 alone from his grassroots this year.  That HONEST Democrat is President Barak Obama.  I believe he did that through internet requests and keeping in touch on a regular basis to update all those that support him.  Interesting guy, the President.

There is a fissure offshore of the East Coast.  It is at the edge of the continental shelf I believe.  NASA and NOAA need to REASSESS this area.  I'd bet good money on the fact there was slippage along there.

One more thing.

If "Irene" hits open ocean without contact with any land mass it will accelerate to Cat FIVE within a short period of time.  I have already noted how quickly it accelerated once it crossed into the Atlantic.  Expect the worst.  Sorry.  It is the way I see it.  Earth is one hot troposphere.  There are still tornadoes in the USA while there is a huge storm in the Atlantic.  There are a lot of verified reasons to make this statement!

An earthquake (click title to entry - thank you) sent tremors from the nation’s capital to New York City Tuesday afternoon, the result of what officials said was a 5.8 magnitude earthquake based in Virginia.

There were no immediate reports of damage.

It is not clear how far the earthquake spread, but tremors were felt throughout New York City office buildings and as far north as Concord, N.H....

There was an earthquake in Colorado as well.  I am telling you the hydraulic fracturing the petroleum industry is engaged in destroying the North American craton.  I wonder how this vibration translated in Haiti?

This isn't going to be the end of it.  The craton is being altered in its 'attitude' both internally from dissolving chemicals of hydraulic fracturing therefore changing the distribution of weight in the magma AND due to the loss of Arctic Ocean ice CAUSING "Isostatic Rebound."  


There will be more quakes.  Absolutely.  The North American continent is huge in mass and it will effect a lot of movement of the plates it touches.
Haiti and adjacent PLATES will have to be checked by phone calls and assessment.  Any tremors can be misreported due to Irene striking this region.

The tremor in High Point, North Carolina lasted at least 30 seconds.  Easily.  It began, grew in strength, diminished about 20 seconds into the tremor and then accelerated again.  It was significant.

Major Roches explained that the BDF conducts routine “linkups” with Guatemala about three times a month, as part of Confidence Building Measures between both countries, done under the auspices of the Organization of American States.

  

Under the program, the Guatemalans and Belizeans exchange information on the events taking place on both sides of the border. However, the BDF ended up abandoning today’s “linkup” mission, Roches reported.

  

He told us in an interview this evening that while the BDF soldiers were “on patrol at the ‘linkup’ position; …doing their security of the area”, they saw 5 Guatemalans coming across the borderline into Belize. “One of them had an AK-47 assault rifle,” he recounted, “and the others had short arms along with machetes. The Security Century [the patrol group]...asked the individuals to halt.”

  

According to Roches, the illegal Guatemalans reached for their weapons: “At that point, the security team, BDF, had to open fire at the individual who pulled the assault rifle. It is believed that one person got injured, because they saw this individual fall and the others grabbed that individual and pulled him in the bush, “ he said....


This is AT LEAST the second such incident along the border.  It is getting to be a habit that the Guatemalans are abandoning their agreement and allowing violence to intimidate the Belizean Defense Force.

Earthquake Jolts Colorado

According to USGS records there have been NO earthquakes greater than 3.5 in North Dakota, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia for 30 years.  Let's see if that trend continues.  I have my doubts.

Colorado was rattled by a 5.3-magnitude earthquake (click here) Monday night, the largest tremor to hit the state in 40 years. The quake was felt in Trinidad, a few hours south of Denver, and was preceded by at least two smaller ones. "I thought maybe a car had hit my house," a 70-year-old Trinidad resident told the Associated Press. Back in 2001, Colorado experienced a smaller series of earthquakes. Geophysicist Shengzao Chen tells the Associated Press, “The area seems to be active again.”

NATO's Victory and the victory to the Arab Nations. Now, the real work must begin and only the Libyan people can conduct it.

The good news is that there IS a Rebel Commander.  That is a good thing.

Rebel commander’s prediction comes true (click title to entry - thank you)

Three weeks ago, a Libyan rebel commander said a new offensive would soon push on towards Tripoli, “a gift” for the rebels during the holy month of Ramadan.

Weapons were being smuggled into towns around Tripoli to allow residents to rise up and challenge the forces of Muammer Gaddafi that held strategic entry points to the capital, said Ismail al-Sallabi, operations commander for one of the largest armed groups operating under the Union of Revolutionary Brigades....

Military power and armament is the last thing Libya needs now.  There needs to be much diplomatic work that brings a Constitution to Libya which empowers its people and elects representative government.  The militarization of Libya is the very last priority for these people.


They have a lot of rebuilding to do.  Their children needs schools and their economy needs to be organized to support the people as independent business people with store fronts in the local market place.  Peace and prosperity for all the people of Libya should be the priority of a people that received decades of terror within their own borders as well as being asked to cause harm to others abroad.


The Libyan Rebel Commander should be inviting diplomats, NATO Commanders and Arab League Commanders to tour the country for control of weapons and removal of armaments that carry deadly force in the wrong hands.  The last image Libya needs to the world is one of a hostile and chaotic country.  Libya needs normalcy.  The country needs it now and should be asking for consultation with its allies.  The Libya Rebels now have allies.  Those allies can help end the violence in the country and remove stigma of Rebels gossiped about as terrorists.  Libya needs to disarm in order to guarantee its peace at this point.  It sovereignty need for a national military can be included in the new Constitution which could actually demand a  diffuse placement of Libya's military so no one city has more power over 'the human experience' than another.  


When this battle for Libya began it was due to a one sided military strength against innocent citizens.  That cannot be ignored and while the former leaders and his sons will certainly be held responsible that does not change the reality for the reason for the internal war in the first place.


This was a hard fought war for removal of a dangerous dictator and his sons.  It was not about any one group having military domination over another.  Libya needs to remember its recent history of four decades and seek to never repeat it.  I believe the capacity of these people for a peaceful and productive nation is extremely high as they value the future of their children and the quality of life Libya can provide in good governance. 


If I had a wish today it would be for all nations of the Middle East to realize the power their natural resource called oil has over their lives.  There are remarkable similarities in the hostile dictatorships that caused such pain to the people of those nations.  They were not benevolent dictators.  They caused hardship with overwhelming single handed power.  Why?  Because the world demanded the oil above that of human rights.


If the Battle for Libya means anything it means the people are more powerful than the 'value of their resources.'  People have value.  They have greater value today than at any time in the five previous decades.  Children have hopes for peace and a happy future.  That is what NATO and the Arab League helped bring to bear today.  I thank them all.

"Stand Up for Israel"

I need to explain this and was going to wait until the weekend, but, this is a billboard along Interstate Route 75 that actually witnessed.  


I took offense to it and not because we are allies to Israel, but, because 'the intent' is to negate the Presidency of President Obama.  This has little to nothing to do with the USA's commitment to Israel.  It is political speech intended to rob President Obama of his accomplishments.


This is also very unfortunate as it wasn't really paid for by the Tea Party.  It was paid for by a private citizen that can't afford it according to her own testimony on the Limbaugh Radio Channel.


This 'statement' is irrelevant.  Expensive and irrelevant.  It was placed on Interstate 75 (I noticed it while traveling to Northern Michigan.  I have a cousin that was married on Drummond Island recently.)  to make a fool of the Obama Administration and his international accomplishments.  See, the entire movement affiliated with this 'propaganda' is to INFER an understanding that Israel is in dire needs of friends they cannot find in the Obama Administration.  


That 'tone' of placing negative comment on accomplishments of the Obama Administration has become a hallmark of the Right Wing Extremist Movement.  They believe they can take any accomplishment by this administration by marching through some period of history or philosophy, turn it into propaganda and make President Obama look as if a fool.  See, only the Right Wing Extremists know THE REAL TRUTH about President Obama.  No one else does.


What is more disturbing is that the Tea Party is joined at the hip by extremist media propagandists that reward self-destructive behavior.  It was self-destructive of this woman to place the billboard along Route 75 because she sincerely could not afford it.  Then when she boasted about it on Beck's Radio program on the Rush Limbaugh radio channel she was rewarded with a free membership to GB-TV.  So much for the infamous ability of the Right Wing to be financially responsible even to themselves.  This self-destructive behavior by the listening audience to Rush Limbaugh's Channel clearly illustrates the inability of their audience to discern their best interests because they are moved on a 'Religiously Spiritual' level to justify foolish decision making.  This woman felt compelled to carry this expression of loyalty out because she lived in a Condo with no front yard, etc.  So in order to prove to herself, her religious friends and political affiliates and to the Limbaugh Radio Network that she is a loyal fan and devoted political hack she did what she claims was her only way of providing a 'participatory sign' of 'good faith.'


This is not the first time powerful right wing media has been able to instill self-destructive behavior in the way of financial loss with their viewership.  Repeatedly over the years there have been profound sacrifice by people unable to provide it without financial harm to themselves to deliver messages to the public.  There have been bus tours and all kinds of dynamics that play out without sponsorship to carry the message.  These folks don't realize if there isn't sponsorship for what they claim as 'Good Works' then it is not a concept the 'majority' of Americans can identify with and that is why sponsors are not flocking to their side.  There political message gets lost not because they didn't try, but, because 'the market share' of their 'product - political idea' is NOT THERE !


This billboard is offensive for one reason and one reason only and that is because it takes A TRUTH and makes it into a lie. 


The USA has always been a strong ally to Israel.  The USA has always stood by Israel, during its most difficult times and even when the decision making of Israeli leadership could be questioned.  Israel is important to the USA, has never been abandoned and never will be.  Israel's people have suffered atrocities of humanity that no people and few have.  Rwanda is another country.  Darfur is another.  Where atrocities have forced new nations to grow in order to protect a populous of people from genocide and cultural destruction.  


There is NOTHING new about this billboard.  NOTHING.  Yet the Right Wing Extremists would have everyone believe they have a holy war with President Obama over the USA loyalty to Israel.  


This form of propaganda is an abomination to the First Amendment, not a compliment to it.  The First Amendment can be an enemy to itself and this is one of those instances.


The woman that displayed this billboard was rejected by the first company she asked to display her ad because 'they don't do' political speech.  There is wisdom in that.  There is suppose to be separation of church and state in the USA.  Obviously this extremist political group 'doesn't get it' and seeks to hate President Obama rather than applaud him.

I think we have a major hurricane brewing in the Atlantic. I live to be wrong about this mess. Okay?

It is my estimation this storm is about 200 miles wide from its' eye and over open Atlantic waters.  I am not surprised this is accelerating as it is.  The Longitude may be recorded a bit south of its actual location.  It is not easy to discern these storms sometimes.  This is a Climate Crisis storm and it has diffuse patterns.

There is a chance the eye is still in the Caribbean, but, the acceleration for that area of the Caribbean surprises me.  Unless, those waters are hot, hot, hot.  I still stand by the estimation, even in the Caribbean, it is over open water at Position 4A.

It is pushing more north right now than south.  If it continues to accelerate there are going to be significant tidal surges.

I believe 'direct solar rays' helps pinpoint the central eye pressure.  So, depending on where the sun's light falls tomorrow morning, the eye won't be far away.

I think the direct solar rays are in the Atlantic at this longitude.  The water vapor will be assisted in 'concentrating' at that point tomorrow morning.  With the intense heat in the 'ground level' troposphere, the direct solar rays are like a prisom, if you will.  A spark to the fire.

I am going to go way out on a limb at this point, but, right now I am going to say ... ???? ... South Carolina ... hm ... around ... Briarcliffe Acres.

Four strong explosions have rocked Tripoli amid clashes in several quarters of the Libyan capital between forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi and rebels challenging his long rule.

The pre-dawn blasts on Sunday were heard in the heart of the city as NATO warplanes flew overhead, an AFP journalist said. The targets were not immediately identifiable.

The deaths of Egyptian Police is a failure in regional security.

The Egyptian Police were there for the same reason the IDF was there, to control the border.  The inability of the Egyptian Police and IDF to identify each  other and work toward a common purpose is disrupting regional security.


For Egypt to withdraw its ambassador is counter productive to solving the problem.  Breaking down diplomatic ties at this point will result in higher incidents of border clashes until war is finally declared and the entire region is completely destabilized.  Egypt is using very poor judgement in breaking down diplomatic ties when it should be increasing the dialogue for common regional security with Israel.

CAIRO, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Egypt has condemned (click title to entry - thank you)  Israel's shooting of Egyptian soldiers on Thursday and asked for an official apology, state media reported on Saturday.

A statement issued after an extraordinary ministerial meeting also attended by army commanders said Egypt will never give up the rights of its sons, official MENA news agency said.

The meeting entrusted the Egyptian foreign minister to summon the Israeli ambassador to Cairo to express Egypt's rejection of the shooting.

Egypt called on Israel to launch an official probe into the incident and take all legal measures on this score, it added.

Hundreds of Egyptians continued to protest Saturday in front of the Israeli embassy in Cairo for the second day. They demanded the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador and stronger action from the Egyptian government.

Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf said on his Facebook page Friday that the Egyptian blood is too precious to be spilt without response....

That is some of the worst diplomatic dialogue I have ever read short of banging shoes on tables.  Israel regrets these actions and I am confident would like to solve the problem that caused this 'border incursion' in the first place.  Seeking to lay blame is incorrect in this instance.  Seeking to find out what occurred while working toward regional security is the only option here.  Being insulted and posturing will not bring the dead back to life or PREVENT any further incidents to occur.  It is imprudent to be difficult.  Israel was reacting to its own deaths and Egypt also needs to see its failure to prevent them as well.

Also Saturday, and on the backdrop of a new diplomatic crisis which may be brewing with Egypt, the foreign minister has called for an urgent meeting of senior Foreign Ministry officials, following Cairo's announcement that it was recalling its ambassador to Israel....


This needs a "Central Command" whereby military leaders from all countries work together to secure their nations as well as mutual borders.  A Central Command that would include Israel, Egypt, Fatah's Palestine and Jordan.  It would consolidate border problems and give Fatah a regional venue for securing its people.

Halliburton Cement Technique: Suspect In Gulf Oil Spill

Halliburton Company was handling the cementing process on the rig and the procedure is coming under scrutiny as a possible cause of the explosion on the Deepwater Horizon rig in the Gulf of Mexico that has led to one of the biggest oil spills in U.S. history. Transocean Ltd was hired by British Petroleum (BP) to operate the Deepwater Horizon well. The litigation for damages will involve these three companies pointing fingers at each other....

...Most wells are over a mile and a half deep.  There is a tremendous amount of rock between the fraking and the ground water...

A relief valve close to the faulty pipeline at Shell's Gannet Alpha oilplatform in the North Sea appears to be the source of a secondary leak that is adding to the worst oil spill in UK waters in a decade.

Green campaigners and members of the Scottish parliament have rounded on the oil company for being slow to release full information on the leak, which was first detected last Wednesday but only disclosed to the public on Friday evening.

Shell said on Tuesday that while the leaking well was "under control", and the main spill had been shut off successfully, a small quantity of oil was still finding its way to the sea by another pathway. After lengthy searching, the valve was pinpointed as the likely source.

Work will continue to dam the small quantities of oil – at up to five barrels a day, a trickle compared with the 1,300 barrels thought to have gushed out in the first days of the leak, but Shell could not say how soon it would be completed. The company has also been so far unable to explain how the leak occurred in the first place.

Is Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute the ONLY reliable source of evidence in the Gulf of Mexico?

The U.S. is asking companies to investigate a “light” oil sheen in an area of the Gulf of Mexico where BP has two abandoned exploration wells.

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement is determining whether the sheen, about 100 miles (160 kilometers) off the Louisiana coast, may be coming from wells not currently in use, Melissa Schwartz, an agency spokeswoman, said today in an e-mail.

BP and other oil producers were asked to investigate the sheen in the Green Canyon area that was spotted by the U.S. Coast Guard last week, the London-based company said today.

BP doesn’t believe the cloudy water at Green Canyon was caused by oil or natural gas, nor that its wells are contributing to the sheen, the company said in a statement.

BP inspected the two abandoned wellheads and found cloudy water near one of them, which may be caused by naturally occurring shallow water flow that’s kicking up silt, the company said…

The Gulf of Mexico is the single largest offshore oil driling region in the world.  It needs its own inspection and Coast Guard force in order to inspect the undersea environment for the purpose of fines and assigning fault!

The Petroleum Industry 'in land' seeking to victimize the entire continental United States uses the same procedures and the same companies for drilling and building their wells.  The 'fraking' operations are as equally dangerous and chronically fail to protect the citizen from the explosive procedures of this industry.

What I liked about "Toya, A Family Affair" on the show today...

...was that she had to move out of her comfort zone and have her daughter move out of her comfort zone to be available for her mother who was entering rehab.  She was entering rehab for the first time voluntarily and without Toya insisting.  Toya was hopeful this was going to be the time when it was going to be successful and she would see her mother recover from her long addiction to drug.  

I worked for nearly six years at UMDNJ in Newark, New Jersey and came to know the community in that city.

Oh, yes, this is nothing short of a lecture to the media that insists on depriving joy to a President that continues to try to win over country, but, falls short because of the 'news being turned into sports casting.’

The Black Community in the USA is a dedicated community to family and God.  They are always fighting for the right path for their children, unable to overcome the odds of wholesome living in a hostile environment.  They are some of the most devoted people to God I have ever witnessed and I grew up in a fairly devout Roman Catholic household.  

This country never gave President Obama the chance to be the pride of the African American Community.  Before he was inaugurated there were movements to defeat his plans to help the USA recover from eight years of exploitation and wrongful wars.  But, the African American Community of the USA was never spot lighted and this Harvard Lawyer was never to outshine anyone that came before him.


President Obama has never been militant a day in his life, he brings pride to this country and his method of 'governing' to attempt in any way he can to include all the people of the USA in a discussion that is benevolent and moves the country forward with confidence.


He is the pinnacle of Grace Under Fire.  No other modern day President has had to sustain the onslaught of viciousness the media has dished out.  Where President Obama is not respected and his reputation is 'leaned' into as a man without quality but simply enjoying the view; it is bigotry and racism talking.  When he is maligned for his faith and personal expressions of openness; it is a slam to every African American in the country.


I have never witnessed a media so inclined and so willing to treat a President as less than he is.  It could be the influence of the internet, but, it goes beyond that.  


President Obama does not have to prove himself as an ally to the Inner City or
Black Community.  He did that in Chicago.  He earned his stripes when he didn't have to and should have been soaking up a six figure salary straight out of Harvard.  


I don't know what it takes to be the First Lady to this President, but, she is special. She is lovely beyond expectations and a smile and faithful hand when none are found anywhere else.  She is above reproach and I'll be darnned if I can find her message from day to day anywhere in the media in this country.  She is drowned out by hate speech against her husband masquerading as political speech.  


This country should be ashamed for the political agenda of hate and misdirection by the Republican Party and their willingness to allow their own constituents to continue to believe hate and lies.  The AMERICA the Republicans portray is not the country I was raised in and it is not the vision I ever expected from a prominent political party.  


The Republicans are about extremism, about hate and about bringing down the Middle Class and Poor while we discard every safeguard available to them.  THAT is bigotry.  There is no other word.  The Middle Class may as well be aliens for the hate speech that victimizes unions as well as the 'idea' of good pay and benefits.  


Pitiful is not the word I would use to describe the ignorant and hate-filled discourse out of the RNC these days.  But, bigotry of many venues does define it well.  If the media doesn't have the guts to call a bigot a bigot then what good are they?

I worked for nearly six years at UMDNJ in Newark, New Jersey and came to know the community in that city.

The Best Reality Television I ever watched I saw today on BET (Black Entertainment Television).

It is blockbusters and I continue to watch a wonder family take on the challenges of the modern day experience.  It is a great show.  I congratulate all the people that make this show possible.
