There are other democracies, First World democracies, allies of the USA that do not have this level of violence within its borders. Japan has none of these problems. Australia has a very tamed, but, very macho society. The problem here is the market share this country brings to any one marketing trash.

Americans need to discover and appreciate the arts. Museums, operas, antiquing, wood working, and expand the culture into being worth billions. Go see a play by the local theater company. There is too much focus on what sells rather than what is sincerely CULTURE. The current 'market' in the USA taps into PRIMAL instincts of fear. It is a positive feedback loop and profits of companies prove it.

Local economies should be humming with artists and their art forms. The USA needs to rehab their idea of fun. Americans need to value the dollars they spend as support for their community rather than profits for corporations willing to have a violence based entertainment and recreation industry. It may not be an easy pivot for some citizens, but, it is necessary one.

I saw a Swedish film once. No subtitles and if there was it didn't matter for as well as it was done. I am trying to remember the name of it. It was a thriller. The subject of the film was a female child vampire and her life with the care of her grandfather. It kept me on the edge of my seat. It was an incredible film. It was suspenseful, but, there was no blood and gore. The girl in the film was actually a sympathetic figure, too. It is not necessary to have violence in a society when the filmmaker or producer is a sincere artist and can capture the imagination.

We all needed to see this, too. Right? President Obama's statement should have been enough.

Bigots caused the release of the photo as proof, no different than the birth certificate. Why do this? There is no reason to do this. If people want to disbelieve the President then they don't need to be validated either. It states where their allegiances are compared to where the rest of the nation is.

I am offended by all the challenges to the words he speaks. What the First Family does for recreation is no one's business. The challenge to his right to be President is hideous beyond words. His integrity matters.

I can't believe an American soldier would write a book describing the people he killed as savages. I can't get over that. It is one thing to actually consider an enemy by that description, but, to write about it? What is that? And to want others to emulate it? I shake my head in disbelief this is part of the American culture. Where does anyone give that permission to exist as hero worship? It takes a savage to know one.

By every measure when I reflect on that blatant reality in the society I live in, he should have been ridiculed for being far less than a civilized man. Where did he get that self-righteous permission? And someone published it? For profit? That is more outrageous than his own reality.

The USA has fallen victim to wealth merchants ruthless enough to market death as a legitimate tool in life.

"...Get your own trident..." He was an enlistment tool? His view of the world is warped. As a soldier he called people savages? What are we doing? I can understand why the USA military and Jessie Ventura didn't endorse his imagination.

I don't know that any soldier should be so proud of the number of dead they achieved they would seek recognition in this manner. It would seem as though there is a reason why soldiers are exempt from prosecution in foreign countries. We need to bring the troops home.

We also need to stop the killing in the USA and regulate guns.

There are only a few motives, personal vendetta, out to prove one is more of a man than 'the man' himself or in self defense if the autobiographer and his friend were toying with him. But, my best guess is he was and his friend were assassinated and didn't know what hit them. The sheriff needs to come forward with details.

I could watch FOX News 24/7 and have to rewrite every aspect of the news they enter in visual media.

Every aspect of the information FOX puts in the media is contorted to fit some kind of political agenda. They entangle the political system in the reporting as if there is something the government can do to jump to attention to meet their demands. Their potency is so incredible they literally have Right Wing politicians on puppet strings to the point where Senate Committees include unsubstantiated questions from Senators and fantasized statements from witnesses. 

Our judicial system, of which Committee Proceedings are a part of as a place where problems of the country are adjudicated in hearings to write legislation to become law, now includes a dreamscape to suit Rupert Murdoch's ideology.

When is that going to be dealt with in a way our democracy is no longer diluted by manipulation?

Why was the White House able to say the Turkey bomber was a terrorist attack differently than from Benghazi? 

You've got to be joking. That is intelligent commentary? Give me a break.

There is no comparison in the infrastructure between Libya and Turkey. So any analysis that involves comparison of these incidents and their reporting is idiocy. But. No one ever accused FOX News of being anything else.

There is no global war by Islamic Jihadist. They are all separate events. Each nation has to effectively deal with their own extremists. We didn't do squat about McVeigh before it was too late. But, Islamophobes at FOX see no comparison between McVeigh's anger with the USA and that of angry Muslim men. They blow up stuff as inspired by their own tainted morality. It is up to the sovereign nation involved to secure citizens from violence. End of discussion.

If the talking heads at FOX can't do better than that, they don't need to speak to the issue at all, because, it does more social damage than it ever does any good. It is all propaganda and the FCC needs to eliminate the dialogue that is abusing our freedom and diluting our democracy.

There is media bias on FOX regarding the Senate hearings regarding gun control. Of all of the talking heads is Judy Miller, the champion of freedom.

Gayle Trotter supplied fanciful scenarios to a Senate panel where she was giving testimony. Her imagineering is irrelevant to REALITY.

FOX News is using talking heads to elevate fantasy and manipulation in front of a USA Senate Panel into some kind of authority those viewing their show should respect. In doing so, the panels of the FOX talking heads bring themselves down to the level of endorsing lies and deconstruction of our democracy.

Testimony to a USA Senate Committee is suppose to be truthful to facilitate legislation that is meaningful to the country. FOX News talking head panels are uncommitted to promoting the truth and benevolence to the country. The FCC is not doing their job in protecting the American people from propaganda.

I also believe the families of the victims of Sandy Hook are above reproach in their opinions. No one should be attacking them for their points of view. 

The case for regulation and a return to the assault weapons ban is based in the fact current regulation does not work. It is what gives Congress their authority in legislating for more regulation.

The laws don't work for whatever reason they don't work, including the fact violence has outpaced the ability of law enforcement. So, the idea applying the same laws over and over again, is a false sense of understanding of the reach of government control to protect citizens.

I know all the arguments, including, by not enforcing the laws has precipitated in the need for more and tighter regulation so why isn't it enforced first. It even appears as though they were not enforced on purpose so there is a return to regulation. That is nonsense. States across this nation did not open an email account to establish a conspiracy against gun ownership. The gun industry and hunting is a part of the economy of the USA. There are many reasons to hope the industry is self-regulating to protect the public, but, it fails.

The fact there is widespread inability to enforce the current laws on the books embodies all the proof necessary to realize the laws are not working. There is no reason to continue down a failed path. Fifty states are unable to enforce the laws, that is PROOF. There is no conspiracy, there is no undermining of the gun industry and they have proven to be unable to self regulate. Gun shops will sell so long as they can get a background check and evidently they sell them without or with fraudulent background checks. If the gun shops were not failing in carrying out their responsibility there would not be the need for prosecution of fraud in the first place. I can easily see gun salespersons facilitating sales regardless of fraud knowing there will be no prosecution. Why not run the fraud out of control and negate the purpose of the law at will? End of discussion.

If the gun industry cannot or will not self regulate and cannot or will not enforce background checks and crimes of fraud are committed at the time of the guns sales, then the type of guns being sold in the USA have to be regulated. There is no other choice. They can't be sold here safely.

If FOX News can't be SELF REGULATING in their content to provide nothing but propaganda then the FCC needs to act to protect the public.

The potency of the power of the FOX News propaganda was evident in the Senate hearing on Benghazi when Secretary Clinton was asked questions TRACEABLE back to FOX and BECK. Now, what is it going to take to have the FCC realize how bizarre the propaganda has become to dictate, THROUGH POLITICAL power in the electorate, completely irrelevant questions as is reflected in Senate hearings? That is corruption and abuse of our freedom and dilution of our democracy. The FCC has a responsibility to the people of this nation. It is not suppose to be a free for all in the media. We aren't Cold War Russia being forced to live with mind speak and lies!

Many of the WORKING poor in Louisiana work for the petroleum industry as 'small business owners' called independent contractors so the oil companies don't have to offer salary and benefits. The petroleum industry have run their game on Louisiana and people are so desperate for a way of life they have dedicated their state government to support the industry itself.

By most measures, (click here) the state and the waters off its coast rank first or second, behind Texas, in the amount of oil and gas produced and transported around the nation for use as gasoline, heating oil and other vital products.

Bobby Jindal as President? Ain't no way, the USA will be a wasteland to the petroleum industry. If Jindal were to become President of the USA, the people of Louisiana would no longer have Medicaid, hence no health care.

If it weren't for the people of the USA, Louisiana would have no conscience at all when it comes to the well being of their citizens, a majority are minorities. Now, I ask you, when is Louisiana going to start to tax oil companies taking oil out of the land that belongs to the people to pay their OWN Medicaid bills? Never? The petroleum industry in the USA are making record setting profits and they will never pay taxes to pay the bills of the citizens whom the land belongs? Louisiana should be swimming in wealth and well being and they are among the most impoverished state in the nation.

The article above illustrates a new category of bureaucracy concerning itself with returning the same level of oil production as before the Deepwater Horizon disaster. The people of Louisiana are more scared of the petroleum industry leaving and losing drilling holes than they are about their own clean beaches and the return of shrimp beds. 

That is a sick society. They can't see the forest for the trees. They sold their very souls to the petroleum industry and it shows. 

Why does anyone believe the failure of the economics along the Gulf Coast after the Deepwater Horizon was immediately transferred to President Obama? Because people did not see in the disaster, including increased levels of cancer, destruction of their fishing industry and loss of tourism, as their own conscience. They saw the only money they have coming into the house disappearing? They had to blame someone, so they blamed Obama as a 'wet behind the ears, President.' They couldn't blame the petroleum industry, they are their saviors.

Louisiana has become emotionally removed from dirty water. They have oil spills there all the time, especially in their ports. So the idea there are increased cancer rates among them is a given, buy hey, "It's a livin'."

The people working in the areas of oil contamination have become immune to the presence of it in their water. After all it is even perrty lookin'.

There is absolutely no reason for Louisiana to need so much federal support if they would tax the industry causing all the disease and destruction in their state and with their people. They don't tax because they are scared they will lose the industry. Just that simple. The petroleum industry walks all over the people of Louisiana and the legislature and governor have no social conscience regarding it, they welcome it.

When I saw Governor Christi and his compassion for the people of New Jersey along side of President Obama I knew I was witnessing a man sincerely in government for the people. He had 'no mercy' when getting the help the state needed and it wasn't because of an oil spill. Governor Christi is a new way of walking and talking for the Republican Party. They should pay attention. I like him. I like him a lot.

I didn't know Ted Cruz was a Hispanic.

I suppose it is obvious to some, but, I was looking at what he was saying about issues and problems. He is still an Islamophobe. He doesn't and shouldn't get a pass on that. I am not proud of him for being so bigoted. He needs to get real. Seriously.

Republican Scott Brown (click here) won't vie for US Senate seat vacated by John Kerry of Massachusetts, he said Friday. His decision increases the likelihood the seat will stay in Democratic hands.

Oh. Why is it a good decision? He proved he isn't a GOP puppet. You know, Pavlov's dog. Always salivating for the first bone the GOP throws him. I think it is admirable. He put some thought into it. A real move away from extremism. Stop and realize what his last campaign was like. Anyone really want that? At least Brown may be more sane than anyone thought.

I mean he sold out,too. He sold out to big money and I doubt he will have a problem with his future wealth. Why bother? He has a lot of back peddling to do. He has to prove somewhere, somehow he didn't deserve to lose. He lost. Why run again, especially considering the tone and evidence of his time served. Can he hold a candle to the man he replaced? Answer that and then realize who he is looking at in the mirror.

Does anyone actually think Ted Kennedy had no use for Wall Street? His family owned an oil interest. Ted never put any insurance company out of business in Massachusetts when he advocated for the state's responsibility to the citizen. He wasn't interested in destroying Wall Street. He didn't believe they were everything to the country and they aren't, nor should they be, but he did find benefit in having those companies here on USA soil. I am quite sure he was more than miffed at what occurred with the global economic collapse. He would never look the other way and would expect those responsible be held to ridicule.

So, while Mr. Brown took his seat for a short while, it doesn't mean he ever filled those shoes.

Okay, we all know what followed the last time.

I wish there were fitness tests for the banks long about now. I also want the Republicans to take a good look at how successful the Obama Administration has been.

The country needs to pay attention, the Obama Administration has the country on a strong economic path. The country will pay attention even if the Republicans don't and are caught up in their own dysfunctional politics.

If President Obama provides them proof of past recovery and the path forward the people will pay attention and the confidence issue will disappear. 

It is a diffcult story to read. They are very brave people, a magnificent couple and dedicated to their children.They have every reason to be proud of their parenting. Every reason.

Each HLA gene has many different normal variations, allowing each person's immune system to react to a wide range of foreign proteins. I realize sometimes genetic treatment means one treatment and success, so there is not a lot of reason for pharmaceutical companies to invest, but, prices for that one treatment can be bargained for reimbursement with insurance companies. Drugs are expensive and if we are to successfully move into the future the savings for the elimination of pharmaceuticals is astronomical. It is easily justified to pay for treatments that minimize the suffering and return quality of life to any person and family.

Senator Hagel was correct when telling Senator Nelson he wanted to speak to McCain's attacks.

There have been many a Senate Committee meeting where hostile questions by one member or another was opened to the floor by yet another member of the committee.

After McCain attacked Senator Hagel yesterday and Senator Nelson provided a window for him to address his service to the country; Senator Hagel was correct to direct the time allowed to answer the hostility leveled at him. It would have been allowed for Senator Nelson to simply ask Senator Hagel if he wanted time to redress previous questions. If the answer was no, then Senator Nelson could have directed the question is ultimately asked. But, the courtesy to extend the nominees remarks usually occurs.

The media is, no doubt, going to back the status quo and treat the answers by Senator Hagel as a social event rather than Military Lobby attack that it was. For bid, Hagel should not have been politically correct in all his verbiage.

The war in Iraq, which Hagel opposed from the get-go, earning himself a place on the "axis of appeasement'' compiled by the neoconservative magazine The Weekly Standard. In 2002, Hagel delivered a thunderous speech on the Senate floor warning that "imposing democracy through force is a roll of the dice." The U.S., he said, did not truly understand the factional divisions among Iraq's Shiites, Sunnis, and Kurds. He then voted to authorize military action in Iraq — a vote he attributed to his loyalty to the office of the presidency. As the war spun out of control, Hagel became an ever-fiercer critic of the Bush administration. He voted against extending the Patriot Act in 2005, and led opposition in the Senate to the Iraq surge of 2007, calling it the "most dangerous foreign-policy blunder in this country since Vietnam."

It was and the Republicans continue to focus on it as a bragging point. It isn't. The death rate of innocents and soldiers escalated until enough Iraqis died to dilute their opposition to the USA Occupation. Bush changed his strategy after the Iraq Study Group findings to stay and cement his legacy rather than admit he was "W"rong and redraw troops in a "W"rongful war. Due to the fact Republicans hung their hat on the invasion they focus on The Surge as a real strategy rather than a killing field. Neocons have to be correct in everything the do, you know, otherwise they might have to admit the USA's overwhelming military presence in the world is overkill and nations invaded suffer from American politics and not national security.

The day of The Pentagon Papers are gone. The media runs in retreat since the Bush years, so don't expect any media service to do anything except uphold "The Mind Speak" which is the drum beat to war. They beat the drums into Iraq, they are poised to do it again and they will while waving the American flag when they should be waving a white one in surrender of the truth.

The Vietnam war was the Johnson Surge which cost over 50,000 American men their lives. Johnson eventually would state the war was unwinnable after the death of at least one million Vietnamese. But, hey, has know the bottom line of Bell Helicopter was great.

The word unwinnable never appears in the media anymore. The word doesn't exist. I am fairly sure it has been removed from the US media dictionary. All the American people need to know is that Beyonce is legit. That's all and we are great people for healing the wounded warriors and seeing the American flag over coffins in Dover.

The only people (click here) who performed more poorly at Chuck Hagel’s hearing yesterday than Hagel himself were the senators who questioned him. Again and again, they delivered bloviating, tendentious monologues and then cut Hagel off when he tried to reply. “I don’t want to interrupt you,” explained New Hampshire’s Kelly Ayotte, before interrupting him. When Hagel asked if he could respond to Ted Cruz’s lengthy insinuation that he was dishonest, if not corrupt, the newly elected Texas senator said there wasn’t time....

The practice of appeasement continues. Where did I put that American flag anyway? Did it get burned? Oh, well, I think I still have the Bush effigy somewhere though.

The District of Columbia Court of Appeals (click here) issued a ruling this morning upholding the dismissal of a defamation lawsuit filed against the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) by former employee Steven Rosen, who was fired following his arrest on espionage charges in 2005.

The charges were later dismissed, but Rosen sued AIPAC in District of Columbia Superior Court in 2009, claiming that statements AIPAC made to the press about him were defamatory; AIPAC had said that Rosen's behavior didn't comport with standards the lobbying group expected of employees. A trial judge granted AIPAC summary judgment in early 2011, and Rosen appealed.

In today's opinion (PDF), a three-judge appeals panel agreed with Superior Court Judge Erik Christian's finding that AIPAC's statements weren’t based on facts that could be verified objectively, and as a result couldn’t be "provably false," a standard for defamation claims....

The latest shot in a long-running legal battle between AIPAC and Steven Rosen, a former top official at the pro-Israel group, reveals that AIPAC staffers regularly looked at Internet porn in the office, and that the married Rosen allegedly cruised for gay sex on Craigslist, according to new court filings....

A There were times where I viewed pornographic images daily. There were other times where I didn’t view them at all for long blocks of time.

A I assumed it. I didn’t really know that.

Q And for how many years did you do this?

A That I really don’t know....

Rosen should have sued Bush for attempting to get leverage over AIPAC. At the very least it was sloppy prosecution, but, is the shoot from the hip Bush Administration's action any different here than when they justified their wrongful war into Iraq.

It was a case that transfixed the pro-Israel community: the August 2005 arrest on espionage charges of two senior officials at AIPAC, the most influential pro-Israel group in Washington.

Before the government dropped the case in May 2009 — amid questions of whether the officials actually committed a crime by talking to Israeli officials about classified information one of them had received alleging an Iranian plot against Israelis stationed in Iraq — AIPAC fired the two men: foreign policy chief Steve Rosen and Iran analyst Keith Weissman.

Now the battle is on to clear their names.
