Were you cursing at the TV (click here) in the fourth inning of Mets-Royals when it went all black?
This couldn’t be happening, right? This was the World Series after all. The picture is not supposed to disappear during a huge event with millions of eyeballs tuned into Fox.
Well, how do you think Mike Davies was feeling? He is Fox Sports’ senior VP/Field and Technical Operations. This was all happening on his watch....
There needs to be a secondary TV/cable network standing by to deliver coverage when the providing network fails.
I would expect contracts with FOX to be different into the future to reflect reassurances against failure. There has to be a second provider involved somewhere. Perhaps even two contracted carriers providing services are better than one. It is proving 'exclusive sports contracts for media carriers' are a very bad idea.
Viewers should be tuning into their favorite Sports Commentator and not settling for broadcast failure. It compromises "the business" of the game, player popularity and a critical play for MVP. This lack of service is nonsense. Americans can't watch their favorite game uninterrupted? That is Wall Street and not Main Street.
