Do the Egyptians want to throw the baby out with the bath water? Hell, yeah. Why leave the door open? From what I understand the old party is still around, but, nearly not. For as magnificent as Egypt is and was, the people were not happy. They don't want it anymore. This isn't about a caliphate. These countries are not attempting to create a 'new' alliance of Islamic extremists.
Not to say the fall of 'the old regime' in Egypt isn't a worry. It is. But, at the same time there are the oppressed, the tortured, the dark side if you will. How does a world rid itself of such heinous realities if it isn't simply destroyed and replaced with a 'different' reality? They have to have a chance to 'be.'
