August 29, 2005.

Normally, the Gulf Coast doesn't receive storms greater than Cat 3 regardless the strength in the Gulf.

Frequently by the time the storms hit the levies it's down to a Cat 2. That won't happen here.

The System of this Eddy is fed by equatorial heat. It is a well powered storm. The outer bands are weakening slightly with landfall but is not effecting the eye what so ever at all. I am not hopeful for any good outcomes with this storm.

The National Guard or what is left of it needs to at the ready to rescue as soon as it is safe. I don't know what 'picture' safe will take as I expect a great deal of flooding from storm surge. It's going to be bad. In it's weaken form when it crossed Florida it dipped south similar to the path of Andrew. The path was as predicted from the water vapor satellite the other day when it was just the other side of Florida. There was plenty of time to evacuate. The system continues to extend from the equator to the Arctic Ocean. This is Climate Change compliments of Global Warming. Posted by Picasa
