Romney needs to go home. He isn't going to be able to contest against the new face of the RNC which passed a draconian bill to destroy Medicare. He would have to stand in opposition to every legislation passed in the House since January and that is a lot of Republicans that are sold on extremism. The race is between Palin and Perry should she decide to get serious. How can anyone trust Romney when he party has become so extreme? I just don't see it.

It was quite a commemoration. (click title to entry - thank you)
I tried to take in all of it. From President Obama's visit to Arlington on Saturday and the unveiling of the Flight 93 Wall to the three visits by President Obama yesterday to New York, Washington, DC and Pennsylvania.
I especially liked the way Bush and Obama tried to bring the nation together by participating in the New York commemoration with separate speeches. Hey, Bush even quoted Lincoln, ya know? For as noble the purpose of "W"s presence the only thing I could think of while he was speaking was Iraq and the $3.1 Tillion of the National Debt these wars have occurred to date.
The 'cause' of the terrorist attack on the USA on September 11, 2001 has to be addressed. I remember hearing an emergency worker asking over the radio to the central command in New York played on the History Channel what does the President have to say? This was about 45 minutes after the North Tower was hit. Centeral Command stated, "He promised to get the people who did this?"
Yep. That's all he had to say. Not much else. Then he just continued to say it over and over and over again while looking for a smoking gun. I was also thinking, the people who did this are now dead along with everyone else.
Then on the Neil Cavuto Hour there was this woman, I think she was a family member, stating that the events of 911 need to be archived with the rest of the history of the USA and how President Obama doesn't 'get it' when it comes to Muslims and Mosques in the USA.
Right. So, we should have a national policy that monitors Mosques and their members so we can find the 'domestic terrorists' that the Middle East Arab naitions are mentoring in their extremist views of Jihad. And. We should archive the attacks of September 11th because after all there were only 2983 people that died. Not 29,000 or 290,000 or 2,900,000. A minor event on the timeline of history really. So, in a way she was stating the entire mess in Lower Manhattan was overblown so "W" could invade Iraq, leave bin Laden on the loose to do it again and carry on with a War of Oil plan that has been shelved for so long.
I am sure she was annoyed at the cost of it all, too.\
I can agree with her, except, that when one waits for 2,900,000 people to die to NOTICE there is a global problem it might be really hard to recooperate from and you might even be among the dead.
It is prudent to condemn such actions on sovereign soil even though the major loss in Lower Manhattan was simply conrete, steel and some human fless along with some really messed up real estate. Oh, by the way, the human life could be looked as mirely members of the Plutocracy, but, they were among the most valuable the American Brain Trust for financial markets.
So.
While the emergency worker responding to the tragedy unfolding in Lower Manhattan was looking for profound words of concerns along with sincere actions by the President like immediate deployment of military troops to Lower Manhattan to assist with the overwhelming reality they were experiencing, the fact is the Memorials are magnificent, appropriate and in the case of the Pennsylvania field sadly underfunded.
If Americans want to grapple with the oppression and poverty of the Middle East as to what spawned the attacks of September 11th and the Arab Spring and why the Yellow Sea is being coveted by Rep. Buck McKeon as the next get US Military effort one should come to understand what a completely bad idea it is to be the Global Police with a military budget that surpasses that of the combined military budgets of all the other nation's on Earth.
More about that later.
Have a better day and my deepest concerns and sympathies for all the 911 families. The children are doing okay. They are finished with Camp and now we need to worry about their education and transition into a society waiting for them. I was sincerely impressed with the young man seeking to become a forensic scientist. He misses his father terribly and yet he sees a future for himself.

Once again I find myself grateful for President Obama and the USA military.
Here we are on the cusp of the tenth remembrance of the events of September 11, 2001 on Lower Manhattan, a Pennsylvania field and Washington, DC. Due to the successful mission into Pakistan to secure evidence about the activities of al Qaeda with the death of Osama bin Laden, we are finding reason to be cautious when we otherwise may not have been.
I can't thank President Obama enough and the perfectly executed mission into Pakistan to kill the world's most heinous terrorist and bring home information that is now alerting all the USA to protect lives. What would we have done without this team of determined patriots to protect us all?
I realize New York's Finest has a remarkable record of successfully protecting their citizen's lives, but, there is an aspect to this that makes their measures all the more meaningful and appreciated.

Drivers were made to open the storage spaces of delivery trucks for police. In Brooklyn, U.S. marshals armed with machine guns guarded the federal courthouse and increased security was observed in front of the nearby city emergency management office.
"We have already had a full complement of people working shifts because of the Sept. 11 anniversary prior to this," said Jim Margolin, a spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation's New York office. "We are taking the logical investigative measures to assess this threat."...

The World Trade Center site employs more than 3,200 workers. At present, it is the largest construction project in the United States. These portraits and audio narratives are a testament to their myriad skills and talents. From the ironworker who provides for her family to the contractor who lost his brother on Sept. 11, each of these workers has a unique story to tell, but they all share a common goal: rebuilding a piece of New York that was once lost.
There is massive flooding throughout the Northeast. The Susquehanna is the latest, but, not the only.

Photographer states: Our area in Pennsylvania has been experiencing record rainfall and wicked flash flooding along the Susquehanna River on both the North and the West Branch. Our town had flooding from the West Branch and Black Hole Creek. This photo was taken earlier in the day when Black Hole Creek had flooded this road in town. The water on the right hand of the photo is on the river side. I was taken by the lone sneaker just sitting upright on the sidewalk, as it came to a rest.
I believe two have died so far with this episode of flooding due to the arrival of Lee.
WILKES-BARRE -- Pennsylvania's lawmakers (click title to entry - thank you) in Washington are urging President Barack Obama to grant a request by Gov. Tom Corbett to declare parts of the state where flooding is taking place a federal disaster area.
In a joint letter to Obama released by U.S. Sens. Bob Casey and Pat Toomey, along with 12 U.S. Representatives Thursday evening, they said that communities up and down the Susquehanna River and along its tributaries are taking as much as action as possible ahead of feared flooding that has already forced the evacuation of tens of thousands of residents.
They're asking Obama to move quickly on Corbett's request which was made earlier Thursday.
Between 5 and 9 inches of rain fell in some parts of the state a little more than a week after the remnants of Hurricane Irene doused the East Coast. The soaking sent numerous waterways over their banks, including one northern Pennsylvania creek that undermined a bridge abutment, causing a partial collapse.
Luzerne County officials called for a mandatory evacuation of all communities along the Susquehanna River that were flooded in the historic Agnes deluge of 1972 -- an order affecting up to 75,000 residents. Officials in Harrisburg said they evacuated 6,000 to 10,000 residents from low-lying areas.
Rose Simko, 44, lives about 150 feet from the levee in Wilkes-Barre. On Thursday she was packing up her car and heading to stay with family on higher ground. Though worried her house will be inundated, Simko knew she had to leave.
"Everything is replaceable," she said, "but my life is not."...

BINGHAMTON — More than 20,000 people have been evacuated from the Binghamton area because of rising floodwaters, some of them in dramatic roof-top rescues.
State and Broome County officials stressed Thursday that the flooding was of "historical proportions" and residents in the floodwaters' path needed to get out immediately.
Scenes of devastation were occurring up and down the Susquehanna River watershed, where remnants of Tropical Storm Lee poured water on top of communities already soaked by the remnants of Irene. Hundreds of roads were closed and a total of more than 100,000 people were ordered to evacuate, most of them in the Binghamton area of New York and the Wilkes-Barre area of Pennsylvania....

The "No Spin Zone" was nothing but spin as O'Reilly targeted Warren Buffet as an example of increasing "The Capital Gains" tax. He went on to insult Mr. Buffet as an old man that compares apples to oranges. O'Reilly explained to his viewership that Mr. Buffet made a fatal error in comparing his Capital Gains Tax to his secretary's Income Tax. The beautiful part came in when Mr. O'Reilly called in his guests to speak and no one agreed with him. The female commentator stated President Obama said nothing about Capital Gains and then the two male commentators stated that Capital Gains is a Tax and for the very wealthy it made no difference if they paid more as a percentage of their income. O'Reilly then defended himself by saying everyone was picking on him that evening.
Sure, Bill, whatever you say.

Then Hannity took President Obama's statement about how the economic crisis was not a reason for destroying all the guarantees Americans have received from their government in the past and turned into a rant about "Stimulus" and "Cash for Clunkers." Huh? Either Hannity is the most stupid man in the world, which he might be, or he is grasping for straws. What President Obama stated was that the REGULATORY of the federal government will not allow for degradation of the safety to citizens it has always enjoyed in the name of economic stimulus.
I would think not. You know yesterday I was out in the bright sunlight walking across a paved parking lot and I took a deep breath, with my mouth closed, just to see what quality of air it was and the back of my throat started to burn. That is in North Carolina. That is not good. The air quality is lousy especially in areas called strip malls where there are no trees for a mile or more and there are no winds and air is stagnant.
Following his rant, Hannity brought on the "Tea-Partied" Eric Cantor and they started their imagineering together.
The fact of the matter is the Republican Party where Former Governor Jon Huntsman fits in is gone. The USA Brain Trust does not exist in their world anymore. It is left up to the latest ideological rant based in lies and language to destroy the country. Murdoch's media empire is based in 'Gutter Ideology' and he has made billions because of it. He began it to remove the 'royalty' out of society to facilitate and empower the
commoner. It has outlived its 'best interest' for democracies.
President Obama gave a brilliant speech yesterday. He did it while accommodating the Republican Debate on Wednesday and the beginning of the football season. He completely compromised the activities of one man in the most powerful seat of government in the world because he wanted to reach out to the people. He didn't want conflict, he wanted cooperation and in the end it was he that cooperated the most. The USA does not need to remove the luster from its royalty. Quite the contrary, the USA needs to have faith in a man determined to speak to them.
The FCC needs to do its job here and bring the Murdoch media service in line with the rest of the network coverage which sought to put together a comprehensive picture of the provisions of the President's speech without attempting to hate the words he spoke.

Why start the rhetoric if Cantor hasn't read the bill? He is setting the stage for more legislative failure and not success.
He states, "Look, I haven't read the bill yet, but, it sounds like the Small Business Tax Cuts is something we can embrace. But, we are the House Majority and if Obama is going to just say "Pass the Bill" and threaten to take his message to every corner of the nation, that is not going to get it done."
What the Republicans say and what they do are two different things. A few days ago both the House Majority Speaker Boehner and Majority Whip Cantor made statements they were seeking to cooperate with a jobs initiative. Now, it's not important at least for Cantor.
The Republicans will 'cherry pick' what they like and dam the rest of it. That is not Bi-Partisan and it will be. The House Republicans are not full partners in solving the nation's jobs issue. They are interested in their crony politics and nothing more.
I strongly suggest the Republicans go back to their corner and rethink their commitment to making the Middle Class in the USA stronger while creating opportunity for Small Local Business than. By supplying the Middle Class with tax breaks while providing greater opportunity to Small Local Businesses, the two act together to provide support for job growth that will then sustain itself.
Republicans cannot see the beauty in that?
Bill O'Reilly made a fool of himself tonight by trying to say President Obama was raising Capital Gains Tax while his guests stated they didn't hear that in his speech and if he did so what? Then he uses Jay Carey as a target for anger without a reasonable conversation. Jay should not bother in the future. If the Obama Administration can't be treated with respect then they should not allow themselves to media icons for unilateral ridicule.
The Right Wing Media sincerely should be ashamed of themselves and start over again on what is best for the country.
Before the USA expects miracles from President Obama on job creation, look at what he inherited.

The economy is on such a steep downhill; it is scary. There is no indication that the job situation would stabilize anytime soon. This could turn out to be one of the worst economic setbacks since the Great Depression. The true unemployment rate is higher than the 7.2% reported today. Thinking that there are no jobs to be had, discouraged workers are dropping out of the labor force. Many people are working part-time even though they prefer a full-time job. The effective unemployment rate including the discouraged and the part-timers for economic reasons is 13.5% compared to 8.8% a year ago. President George W. Bush entered office in 2001 just as a recession was starting, and is preparing to leave in the middle of a long one. That’s almost 22 months of recession during his 96 months in office.
His job-creation record won’t look much better. The Bush administration created about three million jobs (net) over its eight years, a fraction of the 23 million jobs created under PresidentBill Clinton‘s administration and only slightly better than President George H.W. Bush did in his four years in office.
Here’s a look at job creation under each president since the Labor Department started keeping payroll records in 1939. The counts are based on total payrolls between the start of the month the president took office (using the final payroll count for the end of the prior December) and his final December in office.
Because the size of the economy and labor force varies, we also calculate in percentage terms how much the total payroll count expanded under each president. The current President Bush, once taking account how long he’s been in office, shows the worst track record for job creation since the government began keeping records. –Sudeep Reddy

The problem with Republicans bragging about their unemployment rates, is that there is NO QUALITY OF LIFE FOR that accompanies employment with their bragging rights.
The interesting statistic that Republicans are clamoring about is illustrated in the table below. If President Obama started out with a vibrant economy, I'd say they might have something, but, considering the negative numbers were inherited from two previous years, that is quite a stretch.

To begin with wages are required by laws to be above minimum wage. I don't consider production of jobs that pay above minimum wage a huge accomplishment for any governor.

Former Governor Jon Huntsman won the Republican Debate.
The other candidates didn't have a clear vision, at all, for the country based in the 'reality of today' and were completely rhetorical and ideological in their statements.
The 'idea' that 98 of 100 scientists believe the Earth is experiencing a unique climate crisis spawned by human influence was not good enough for Governor Perry. He wants to study it more because the science is undecided. That is not correct. The science of the 'Climate Crisis' has scientists honing 'the perfect definition' of it, but, that should not be mistaken for disagreement.
I sincerely thought Former Governor Jon Huntsman was the only candidate based in reality with answers that were attainable for the USA.
I have seen it all now. President Obama is being presented with "The Heavy Wet Blanket" award by the GOP Senate.
Does the Republican Senate do anything with brevity.
I watched C-Span as not even a half hour ago the House passed the trade bills which were stalled since January.
Nearly immediately after Senator Lamar Alexander came out to the podium with his cohorts to announce that the trade bills have been sitting on the President's desk since forever and all he had to do was sign them.
Senator Alexander simply lied.

On C-Span between the two events, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid talked about the emergencies and FEMA funding that was needed to rebuild 200 bridges in Vermont. He stated the largest office building there is underwater. He pointed to the Governors of New Jersey and Virginia stating opposition to additional FEMA funding is the wrong path for the country.;
Senator Reid stated currently there are 3 million acres of prime US farmland underwater. He stated there were 200 lives lost by a tornado in Joplin, Missouri and the funding needed to rebuild that community was vital. He stated he was looking forward to the President's address tomorrow evening, but, he wasn't aware of all the details and would not comment.
The Senate Republicans are repulsive, exude sincere DIS- respect for the needs of the American people and enjoy mockery of the President rather than addressing the nation's concerns. The only Republican Senator that bothered to speak in any real terms regarding changes needed to bring down the national debt was Senator Cornyn when he stated the Tax Code needed to be reformed. I hope he lives up to his promises and considers the Simpson-Bowles findings for the new method of tax for the IRS.
When Mitch McConnell and his cohorts get serious about the legislative agenda before them so this country actually turns around, it might be too late because it will be after the 2012 elections. All we can expect from Senate Republicans are high-jinks and nothing more. If the American people return these men to their Senate seats then they have no real respect for their country or its constitution.

And the al Sadr camp? The one with the Peace Ayatollah isn't interested in Iran's interference.

This week's Drought Monitor seems delayed. Perhaps due to the holiday. But, maybe some 'lame Republican' in the House has done something stupid because they actually have coveted the US Drought Monitor as a political threat.
Ah, yes, the devil is in the details. The GOP needs to simply sell their constituents the idea that what they are seeing is not really there. Both the Republican politician and their constituent are good at that.
Lee may have inched the humidity index a small bit over east Texas. As Lee swung NNW like it actually did and came closer to Texas the storm was diminished in velocity and why it never really took a lower central pressure. As "Lee" hovered over East Texas the water vapor disspated / evaporated. That is a good thing. But, Texas's land and air are very, very dry and very hot so that when these storms come inland near or over Texas it will diminish in its capacity to actually deliver any substantial water to the land. That is kinda good, because a torrential rain over Texas right now would be a bad thing.
In order for Texas to get back to 'normal' it would require a lot more than one hurricane to do it. Most of the rainfall numbers along the east coast are still low as an overall rainfall compared to years when drought didn't exist.
There is every indication Katia will be another near shore storm followed by Maria. The turbulence in the Gulf of Mexico will never make Texas.

The Iraqi Central Government is afraid of being undermined by its own privinces.
We have no business in this fight. BRING THE TROOPS HOME. We are not the militia for a weak central government.

The new hydrocarbons law is seen as crucial to the Opec producer's efforts to rebuild after years of war by giving investors more solid legal guarantees. It has been in the making for years but has faced opposition over who controls the world's fourth largest oil reserves.
Much of the opposition has come from Kurdistan, where the government has signed its own contracts with foreign oil companies that the central government in Baghdad deems illegal....
WASHINGTON (AP) — The scheduled withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq is on track, a Pentagon official said Wednesday, but the Obama administration has yet to decide how many troops might stay there on a revised mission to help train Iraqi forces.
"The drawdown has begun," Navy Capt. John Kirby, a Pentagon spokesman, told reporters. He referred to the departure from Iraq this week of about 700 members of a headquarters unit. Their departure marks the start of the withdrawal of the final 46,000 U.S. troops there.
Yet to be decided is the size and mission of any stay-behind contingent. The Iraqi government said last month that it is interested in negotiating the terms for a U.S. military group to continue training Iraqi forces beyond Dec. 31, when the last U.S. forces are to have departed under a 2008 agreement.
The administration is considering a number of options that could leave several thousand troops in Iraq to do training and possibly other missions....

With Johnson County traditionally electing a Democratic delegation for Des Moines, the city manager says a lobbyist would help build bridges with Republican leadership, as well.
Markus has said a lobbyist would be able to assist with Iowa City's push for an Amtrak line to Chicago, securing grant money and encouraging legislation against apartments changing to cooperative status to receive tax breaks.
Council member Connie Champion called it a "smart move," and Regenia Bailey said it would give the city "a single point of entry" at the Statehouse.
"It's certainly going to give us better access to what's going on," council member Mike Wright said.
