This year started quite symbolically in Russia. In the last days of 2010, government authorities decided to demonstrate their power and their intolerance for being challenged: The verdict issued at the farcical trial of Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Platon Lebedev had no relation to jurisprudence; leading opposition figures were detained for as many as 15 days on purely political grounds....
Nothing is going to change by attempting to 'rub Russia's nose in it.' The best outcome for Khodorkovsky is for him to be monitored for wellness, but, leave it alone and get him out of the focus of Western anger over profit margins not yet attained in Russia. Either these authors actually have something to say or they should simply stop victimizing their Russia martyr so he can resolve his circumstances without complications.
Trying to paint Putin and Medvedev as if Nikita Khruschev isn't going to work. They simply aren't and angry Russians being denied profitability should start dealing a better hand to their cause.

...Sergei Strokan: (cilck here) Most of the article, as could be expected, is devoted to harsh criticism of top Russian leadership. The idea of the story is that Russia's economy and political system desperately need “comprehensive modernization,” but authors believe the Putin-Medvedev duo is a major obstacle to this. They also write a lot about –as they put it - ”corrupt practices by the Russian establishment whose ability to find havens for stolen funds and leave Russia for comfortable lives in Western nations is one of the regime's pillars of stability.”...
It would seem as though their contemporaries strongly disagree with them.
I don't appreciate the USA being seen as a platform for profit driven goals in other nations. Seriously.
