The US Census is still being recorded. WHERE IS EVERYONE? Get involved and stay involved.

Genesee County, Michigan -- Hundreds of people (click here) still are needed for local 2010 Census jobs.

The U.S. Census Bureau already has hired about 170 people from the Flint area to conduct address canvasses starting next month, but it is seeking 800 to 1,200 more people here for other tasks later.

The jobs are temporary but pay about $14 an hour.

"I'm definitely interested," said Aaron Ruff, 31, of Fenton, who was laid off from his job at an automotive supply firm last November. "It's something I've never done before and I could always use the money."...

Flint needs a full census record.

Flint - The city says it’s coordinating a final push (click here) to encourage residents to complete the 2020 Census, a big job considering an estimated 22 percent of the population hasn’t been counted so far and the deadline to do so is just 20 days away.

“This is a 10-minute investment that impacts us for the next 10 years. This is about making sure our community has the funding to provide services our residents need and deserve,” Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley said in a statement issued by the city on Thursday, Sept. 10....

The mourners entering the plaza wore face masks, (click here) and the teary, intimate hugs of years past were replaced by awkwardly choreographed fist bumps. When the bells tolled at 8:46 a.m., marking the moment the first jet smashed into the north tower 19 years ago, those gathered stood at somber attention, trying to draw comfort from neighbors required to stand six feet apart.

The solemn ceremonies held at and near the Sept. 11 memorial in Lower Manhattan on Friday provided an poignant resonance in the face of a pandemic that has crippled the country for months and brought particularly devastating loss to New York City.

Outside the memorial plaza, a widow holding a picture of her husband admitted that the anxiety she normally felt on this anniversary was compounded by her fears over the coronavirus. A woman who lost her cousin when the Twin Towers fell equated the dedication of rescue workers in 2001 with the toil of health care professionals this year.

A retired firefighter said the lingering effects of the virus made him think of the continued ailments suffered by emergency workers who inhaled toxic dust, smoke and fumes at the site of the attack....

I guess when militias are the way forward for Trump, the National Guard is counter productive.

Monday marks (click here) one month since Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer requested a phone call with President Donald Trump to discuss the imposed state cost share for use of the Michigan National Guard for COVID-19 response, which federally funds National Guard activities and provides Guard members with federal pay and benefits.

Whitmer reiterated in a news release Monday that although Michigan continues to battle the COVID-19 pandemic, the president has still not responded to the governor's request.

"COVID-19 is still a very real threat to our state, and we need full federal funding for the Michigan National Guard in order to continue protecting our families and frontline heroes," Whitmer said in a statement. "Our Guard members have been vital to our COVID-19 response by testing thousands of people in communities across the state during the height of the pandemic, and will be crucial to our recovery efforts moving forward....

Bob Woodward is not responsible for one death in the USA, including minority members of our society.

Most Americans feel the pain of the deaths among minority citizens. They are repulsed by the disproportionate black and brown people that have died due to COVID-19. There is a few that don't really care, beginning with the First Lady, but, to state somehow and in some way a brilliant journalist like Woodward is responsible for all that is an enormous lie all by itself.

...Calm down: He’s all bluster and bravado. (click here)

Calm down: He doesn’t really mean what he says about women or people of color or white supremacists.

Calm down: It’s not racism, it’s economic anxiety.

How’s all that eKKKonomic anxiety working out for us?...

...Woodward, a white celebrated journalism icon, who sat on information (seemingly to sell books, though he insists otherwise) that disproportionately cost more Black and brown people their lives....

Bob Woodward has been a treasure and a patriot in this country and I welcome his book at a time when others are bringing their message to the people of the USA.

There are dearly few responsible for the tragedies that now exist in the USA and they are Trump, his administration, and his FOX News corruption network (click here). Those people are directly responsible for the lies and carrying the lies forward to make a lie the truth, right Former Speaker Ryan?

DONALD JOHN TRUMP has killed over 150,000 (click here) Americans from COVID-19. That is a small city. He wiped them out because HE DIDN'T CARE except to protect Wall Street and his re-election.

Tony Fauci is not responsible and the Main Stream Media is not responsible. Certainly, all the people riding Paul Revere's Charge to Americans in their books are not responsible either. Former FBI agent, Peter Strzok isn't responsible either. If he were still in service he might have become a whistleblower regarding Trump and more people would be alive, but, no the Republicans had to ride him out of the FBI on a rail and why? Because of their lousy politics that kill people through pandemic and racism.

The Republicans could not even face the fact Donald John Trump was guilty of the Impeachment Charges and sent the clown back to the Oval Office. And why? Because, like Strzok, IS WAS THE DEEP STATE! THE FLYIN' FICTITIOUS RE-ELECT TRUMP DEEP STATE THAT DEFAMES JOURNALISM, JOURNALISTS, AND THE TRUTH.

Bob Woodward did what he always does as a trusted member of a dearly democratic profession, he sought the truth and by damn it wrote a book about it. A BOOK. Not an article. Not the front page above the fold expose either. A book. He wrote an entire book out of a few interviews.

I trust Bob Woodward and believe every word he has written. In the case of Nixon, the Legislative Branch, being shocked and appalled at the truth displayed in The Washington Post, acted and began an impeachment inquiry that culminated in the president's resignation. Nixon was right to leave the White House, Trump is the example why.

The people still voting for Trump are sincerely misinformed or are wealthy and don't want to pay taxes. The "Tea Party" would not exist if it weren't for those FAMILIES involved in the antiquities of the USA economy, like the Trumps and the DeVoes (click here) and the Kochs, among others.

The Tea Party sprang up overnight and even before Barak Hussein Obama was inaugurated. It is a travesty in the USA. But, without billions poured into their political advocacy by these families without an IPO, the USA may have been far safer from political extremists that are LOYAL to our enemies.

Trump's big claim to re-election is that Democrats will take away your guns, take away your cars, and increase taxes.

Really?

Well, the flip side of all that nonsense is that Trump will end Social Security, allow the assassination of American soldiers, the poor losers and suckers that they are. He will finish his march to become Putin's first major Western nation to become a Russian satellite.

Trump is as pathetic as much as he is pathologic and it is time the USA demand a change in administration and the return to a functional US Post Office guaranteed to them within the USA Constitution. Not FedEx or UPS, but, the US Post Office is guaranteed to Americans within their own constitution.

I wish she and the company the best.

This all makes sense, doesn't it? We know that SARS-CoV-2 causes an incredible response from the victim in the way of inflammation of tissues. The virus is also indiscriminate in the type of tissue it effects. But, we also know it has an affinity for the nervous system and in that lies the body's inflammation response to stop the virus.

The woman is recovering and that is exceptionally good news in relation to side effects of this vaccine. She is going to be okay. Not all the people effected by COVID-19's inflammation response survived to talk about it. She is also recovering quickly.

So, this will be considered a side effect of the vaccine. More over, since this is such a severe response the team at AstraZeneca will probably review all the data they have accumulated to this point and decide if the vaccine needs to be adjusted or this is the best it will be and the side effect in this case needs to be regarded as a potential problem for the people receiving the vaccine.

It is my guess, the researchers will double their efforts to examine all the data and bring this side effect under control in the final version of the vaccine. That could mean the vaccine needs a co-partner that will protect from extreme inflammation while still providing significant protection from SARS-CoV-2. That is a tough one because steroids are not good partners to producing a strong antibody response.

This is a prime example of the significant value of the third step in preparing a vaccine for use by everyone. The third trial does bring a better focus to widespread use. It is a very important trial.

The participant (click here) who triggered a global shutdown of AstraZeneca’s Phase 3 Covid-19 vaccine trials was a woman in the United Kingdom who experienced neurological symptoms consistent with a rare but serious spinal inflammatory disorder called transverse myelitis, the drug maker’s chief executive, Pascal Soriot, said during a private conference call with investors on Wednesday morning.

The woman’s diagnosis has not been confirmed yet, but she is improving and will likely be discharged from the hospital as early as Wednesday, Soriot said.

The board tasked with overseeing the data and safety components of the AstraZeneca clinical trials confirmed that the participant was injected with the company’s Covid-19 vaccine and not a placebo, Soriot said on the conference call, which was set up by the investment bank J.P. Morgan....

It was obvious Trump knew he was countering the experts from the beginning.

It is true he didn’t want to cause panic. But, it wasn’t the people he was worried about, it was Wall Street. That too was more than obvious.

Coming from Bob Woodward it is important because he heard the words come from Trump’s mouth directly. So, we have a witness now to the incredible crime against the American people.

I remind, July 25, 2020 was supposed to mean something and even that was disregarded by Trump and the Republicans and for what reason? The safety of our society and health of the US economy? No. Politics of hate. That was far more important than the sovereign domestic peace of the USA.

Thank you, Mr. Woodward for being a patriot. I might add the growing number of books about this wayward president and his administration are not only patriotic as well, but, all tell the same story about a ruthless president and his dominance of the Republican Party and their lack of patriotism and instead selfish interests from their seats of power in the USA legislature.

McConnell is a joke on us. To his right a Russian oligarch to help him keep his office. To his left a Chinese shipping magnate that helps him keep his office and wealth. Now, who’s interests are first in McConnell’s obstruction to maintain his status quo?

McConnell and Trump patriots? Sure, but, to which country is the question.

Sometimes when I set the world aside...

... I can hear it a little bit better. Like today, my 85 year old mother went to morning mass where they social distance and wear masks. She went to visit my sister where she usually goes once a week or so.

My sister lives in an independent living facility. She is the survivor of a brain tumor since the age of 29 when she was first diagnosed. Cleveland Clinic. She will be 63 years old in October.

My father would have been 90 years old today. He died of misdiagnosed lung cancer from asbestos exposure when he worked. He will have passed on ten years ago October 10th.

I went to a wilderness area today to take in the sights and sounds to clear my mind and my heart. A couple pulled up in an SUV next to my Jeep. They got out and walked with determination to a swampy area and disappeared. When they returned about a half hour later they had fistfuls of Morel Mushrooms. Those mushrooms sell for about $50.00 a pound in the retail market.

My mother has a daily routine. She is liked and loved every where she goes. When she is ironing clothes or taking a break in her easy chair she turns on the news and listens to the broadcast of favorite news anchors. I realized today, on my late father’s birthday that she is scared. She listens intently to hear how our country is going to be healed and well again.

She is scared that every thing she has ever known as security could be taken away from her. She was like that when my father died. He was her rock, her hero. I sat down with her a few days after the funeral and went through all the legal papers. I told her “ Daddy loved you and he has planned for you and you are going to be fine.”

My 85 year old mother is scared again like she was when my father died. This time I don’t know how to make it better if the worst happens to this country.

Remember how Trump stalked Hillary Clinton on the debate stage?

He wanted to make her angry. He wanted her to strike out at him. All these lies and deceptions by Trump along with power plays is an act at the least to make Joe and Kamala angry enough to lose there cool within the campaign and in the debate stage.

Everyone knows the path forward from here we just need to keep our eyes on the horizon of the return of the USA to the people and out of the hands of the corrupt.

Laguna del Tigre National Park - The makeshift airstrips (click here) are sliced into the jungle, clearings carved out of the oaks and palms wide enough to land jets full of cocaine.

The planes arrive in the middle of the night, their lights off, guided by drones, unsteady under the weight of the drugs. They descend over Mayan ruins, over camps of jaguar researchers and ornithologists, over illegal settlers and ranchers.

The cat-and-mouse game between the United States and the leaders of Latin America’s drug trade has shifted to this wild stretch of Guatemala, one of the most inhospitable landscapes in the Western Hemisphere. Jets can carry more than $100 million worth of cocaine, to be ferried swiftly out of the jungle, through Mexico and on to the United States....

Guatemala is a Central American nation that shares its northern border with Mexico and its southern border with Honduras and El Salvador. Earlier this month, the Guatemalan military discovered coca leaf plantations in the eastern, mountainous Izabel region. The leaves of the coca plant are the raw ingredients for cocaine production. The military found the plantations while they were patrolling the region in search of drug traffickers who murdered three soldiers there several weeks ago. The military destroyed the plantations, dismantled two laboratories for processing cocaine, arrested 342 people, and confiscated a large supply of weapons and vehicles....

California is in trouble. The nighttime temperatures aren't low enough to effect the daytime temperatures. The heat continues to build.

As a historic heat wave left Southern California (click here) broiling, Woodland Hills on Sunday recorded an all-time high of 121 degrees, which the National Weather Service said was the hottest temperature recorded at an official weather station in Los Angeles County.

It broke the old record of 119 degrees set in July of 2006 and was one of several records to fall on Sunday. The NWS said Riverside hit its highest temperature ever for September at 117 degrees; Santa Ana hit a record high for the day at 106.

In some areas, Sunday was even hotter than Saturday, where the mercury hit historic levels in some areas. Officials said at least three areas tied or topped all-time record highs Saturday: Alpine (113), El Cajon (114) and Idyllwild (103). The weather service said Burbank appeared to tie an all-time record at 114 degrees.

A slight cooling trend should begin Monday. Even though areas could see temperatures drop by 10 degrees, many locations will remain in the triple digits....

This is from NOAA. All the previous record highs were within the last three years, except, for Woodland Hills which was 2006. Within the past decade and a half all-time high heat records have been established. That should be telling everyone something, besides how annoying rolling blackouts are.

The bustling Atlantic basin (click here) isn't taking a Labor Day breather: One depression intensified Monday into a tropical storm, and forecasters are tracking multiple areas that could spin up trouble in a  record-breaking hurricane season.

I am not surprised a record breaking heat index is accompanied by a record breaking hurricane season. The two go hand in hand. It would be great if the eastern Pacific would spin up a few hurricanes that trave l due north to southern California, but, there is a very stable high pressure system in the way.

"The eastern Atlantic is going to become quite active during the next few days," AccuWeather hurricane expert Dan Kottlowski said.

Tropical Storm Paulette formed in the Atlantic, the National Hurricane Center, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph. "Modest strengthening" was expected over the next few days as the storm, located about 1,205 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands, moves toward the west-northwest.

Forecasters were also watching a tropical depression  that formed off the coast of western Africa Monday morning. The depression had maximum sustained winds of 35 mph and was moving to the west at 12 mph; it was also expected to strengthen into a tropical storm....

In recent decades, (click here) the diffusion of digital technology into nearly every business and workplace, also known as “digitalization,” has been remaking the U.S. economy and the world of work. The “digitalization of everything” has at once increased the potential of individuals, firms, and society while also contributing to a series of troublesome impacts and inequalities, such as worker pay disparities across many demographics, and the divergence of metropolitan economic outcomes.

In light of that, this report presents a detailed analysis of changes in the digital content of 545 occupations covering 90 percent of the U.S. workforce in all industries since 2001. The analysis categorizes U.S. occupations into jobs that require high, medium or low digital skills and tracks the impacts of rapid change.

I hope this has helped to understand vaccines.

This page covers subunit, conjugated, recombinant, and toxoid vaccines.

‘Conjugate’ means (click here) ‘connected’ or ‘joined’. In the early days of polysaccharide vaccines (made using sugars from the surface of bacteria), it was found that they did not work well in babies and young children. Researchers discovered that they worked much better if the polysaccharide was attached (conjugated) to something else that they knew created a strong immune response. In most conjugate vaccines, the polysaccharide is attached to diphtheria or tetanus toxoid protein (see ‘Toxoid vaccines’ above). The immune system recognises these proteins very easily and this helps to generate a stronger immune response to the polysaccharide. On product information sheets the diphtheria toxoid is often called ‘CRM197 carrier protein’, because it is almost the same as diphtheria toxoid but not quite....

I sincerely believe the successful vaccine with be a killed virus while using enough of the exterior of the cell to prompt the immune response. I am curious as to the degree there is an immune response. The virus elicits a very strong immune response that causes severe illness and death. The new drugs administered during treatment are rolling back that strong response to allow for greater survivability of the virus. I have to believe the vaccine might elicit a similar but somewhat subdued dynamic during the immune response. I have to believe some of the medications currently used on the virus should be on standby for vaccine recipients.

I also believe people will need booster shots for this virus. I have read an article whereby natural immunity lasts about three months after recovering from the initial infection. That will be better known when the vaccine is being administered to many people.

I hope the Russian scientists testing their vaccine in the Philippines are also preparing to treat some severe responses to the vaccine with anti-inflammatories that can be taken by mouth and perhaps an anti-coagulant in some instances.

We may be in for a rough ride with the vaccines that are produced. The mRNA (messenger RNA) vaccine will be the first of it's kind. I am looking forward to it's final stage testing. This is more engineering than will take place with any other standard method to date. If any one of the vaccines have a chance at being a cure that may be the mRNA variety. It has a chance to provide lasting results in only two injections.

I do see vaccines as part of the initiative to eradicate SARS-CoV-2 from Earth.

This is the methodology I expect to be successful as a vaccine for SARS-CoV-2.

An inactivated vaccine (or killed vaccine) is a vaccine consisting of virus particles, bacteria, or other pathogens that have been grown in culture and then lose disease producing capacity. In contrast, live vaccines use pathogens that are still alive (but are almost always attenuated, that is, weakened).

Abstract

Vaccines are cost-effective for the prevention of infectious diseases (click here) and have significantly reduced mortality and morbidity. Novel approaches are needed to develop safe and effective vaccines against disease. Major challenges in vaccine development include stability in a suitable dosage form and effective modes of delivery. Many live attenuated vaccines are capable of eliciting both humoral and cell mediated immune responses if physicochemically stable in an appropriate delivery vehicle. Knowing primary stresses that impart instability provides a general rationale for formulation development and mode of delivery. Since most pathogens enter the body through the mucosal route, live-attenuated vaccines have the advantage of mimicking natural immunization via non-invasive delivery. This presentation will examine aspects of formulation design, types of robust dosage forms to consider, effective routes of delivery (invasive and noninvasive), and distinctions between live attenuated or inactivated vaccines....

This is from a published article in India. I thought the use of electron radiation to kill the nucleic acid was easier to understand. Viruses are RNA or ribonucleic acid. The illustration above shows more options that can be used to kill the virus while preserving parts of the virus for vaccine development.

An inactivated vaccine (or killed vaccine) (click here) is a vaccine consisting of virus particles, bacteria, or other pathogens that have been grown in culture and then lose disease producing capacity.

In contrast, live vaccines use pathogens that are still alive (but are almost always attenuated, that is, weakened).

Pathogens for inactivated vaccines are grown under controlled conditions and are killed as a means to reduce infectivity (virulence) and thus prevent infection from the vaccine.

The virus is killed using a method such as heat or formaldehyde.

Inactivated vaccines are known for their safety and easy production....

A live but attenuated vaccine.

Live, attenuated vaccines

They fight viruses and bacteria. These vaccines contain a version of the living virus or bacteria that has been weakened so that it does not cause serious disease in people with healthy immune systems. Because live, attenuated vaccines are the closest thing to a natural infection, they are good teachers for the immune system. Examples of live, attenuated vaccines include measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine (MMR) and varicella (chickenpox) vaccine. Even though they are very effective, not everyone can receive these vaccines. Children with weakened immune systems—for example, those who are undergoing chemotherapy—cannot get live vaccines.

This vaccine is the live virus. It is an injection of a small population of the live virus genetically weakened and is considered a weakened virus. While there is enough of the virus to stimulate an immune response, there isn't enough virus replicating that is actually causes disease.

Using this strategy, (click here) viruses are weakened so they reproduce very poorly once inside the body. The vaccines for measles, mumps, German measles (rubella)rotavirusoral polio (not used in the U.S.), chickenpox (varicella), and influenza (intranasal version) vaccines are made this way. Viruses usually cause disease by reproducing themselves many times in the body. Whereas natural viruses reproduce thousands of times during an infection, vaccine viruses usually reproduce fewer than 20 times. Because vaccine viruses don't reproduce very much, they don't cause disease, but vaccine viruses replicate well enough to induce "memory B cells" that protect against infection in the future. Find out more about these and other cells of the immune system.

The advantage of live, "weakened" vaccines is that one or two doses provide immunity that is usually life-long. The limitation of this approach is that these vaccines usually cannot be given to people with weakened immune systems (like people with cancer or AIDS).

HOWEVER, if the virus is attracted to neural pathways, it is far too dangerous to be live attenuated. It MUST be identified as to whether the SARS-CoV-2 virus is a neurological virus or absolutely not.

I don't recall reading a definitive characteristic of this virus in regard to neural pathways. There are bloodshot eyes, brain infarcts, and heart attacks. Are these symptoms brought on by microscopic blood clots and their accumulation in capillaries or is this disease occurring along a neurological path? Is it one of these possibilities OR is it even both? Does this virus attack the neurological pathways as well as the clotting cascade?

If the wild-type virus is neurotropic (click here) or the vaccine has been passaged through neural tissue, health authorities require that an evaluation of neurovirulence during nonclinical development be included in a model capable of distinguishing between wild-type and fully or partially attenuated strains. Small animal models may be acceptable for this purpose provided they are susceptible to wild-type virus. Programs including live attenuated vaccines based on genetically modified organisms also include an environmental risk assessment including the possibility of shedding of vaccine organisms following administration....

This was the first time the idea of vaccination was proved invaluable.

The first modern use of the idea of vaccinated started with Edward Jenner.

Distinctive cowpox (click here) lesions appeared on the boy's hands, arms and feet

Edward Jenner (1749-1823), (click here) an English doctor, became interested in the idea that previous illness with a disease called cowpox could protect a person from later becoming ill with smallpox. Jenner's biographer claimed that Jenner heard this folk wisdom from a milkmaid: having caught cowpox from a cow, she believed herself, and her smooth skin, safe from smallpox.

Cowpox is an uncommon illness in cattle, usually mild, that can be spread from a cow to humans via sores on the cow. During an infection, dairy workers may have pustules on their hands. Sufferers can spread the infection to other parts of the body.

We know now that the cowpox virus belongs to the Orthopox family of viruses. Orthopox viruses also include horsepox virus, monkeypox virus and variola viruses, which cause smallpox.

Within the discussion of SARS-CoV-2 and the human body's reaction to it is the word "cytokine storm."

...Cytokines (click here) are small secreted proteins released by cells have a specific effect on the interactions and communications between cells....

So, an antigen (virus, bacteria or fungus) enters the body. It engages the immune response, cytokines carry the message to the white blood cells that help in defending the body is needed, then the macrophages devour the foreign cell and pass that template of destruction to the lymphocytes. Hence long-lasting immunity.

Some may recall when being immunized as a child, then adult the reason there are BOOSTER shots is to REMIND the immune system, the danger still exists. That may be the path of the vaccine for SARS-CoV-2, in that booster shots may be necessary until the virus is eradicated from Earth.

A total of 28 trillion tons of ice (click here) has disappeared from the Earth’s surface since 1994, according to the results of a study that shocked the U.K. researchers who conducted it.

This report fulfills the worst-case scenario that was predicted by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 30 years ago. Scientists from Leeds and Edinburgh universities and University College London predict that by the end of this century, sea level could rise by more than 3 feet....
